The way that Craig has taken to right back, I have not got any worries!!! Tall Kurtis at either CB and Devitt or Grant could fill in at LB/RB :D

Agree with the first statement but not the second. Jamie Devitt had an off day and Bobby Grant was insignificant. Charlie Barnett was excellent and the defence was also good. Another confident performance from Bavs. Difficult to pick Man of the Match for Stanley but I think that Peter Murphy probably deserved it.

The downside without a doubt was the two substitutions. Craney was a woeful choice for the lone striker role. Too short, too one-paced (slow), too awful. Apart from a speculative lob that landed on the roof of the net, his contribution was nil. This was equalled by Micah Evans. The situation seemed ideal for the introduction of Kurtis Guthrie at half time, and surely Will Hatfield would have been a better choice than Micah Evans for the second substitution.

It seems ironic that our depleted defence coped admirably while a powder puff forward display, especially in the second half, made scoring seem unlikely.

Agreed with the majority of Revived's review.

Though im here for a holiday, im not too gutted about the result. If we could get something up front we could be a match for anybody in this division.

Murphy for me had a decent game at center back, which should be his permanent position from next season.

Evans yet again, looked totally dis-interested, and its quite clear to me he doesn't want to be there. He had one decent run but is obviously on borrowed time.

Hatfield looked great when he came on......... surely he must start on Monday.

Oh special mention for young Hopper, looked at home in the middle of the park :)

If we've got a lad through the youth system who is holding his own against an automatic promotion team then that to me that is worth more than 3 points.

Agree with all of that. I should have mentioned Hopper in my original comments. I would certainly like to see him start again on Monday along with Will Hatfield and Kurtis Guthrie.

I should also have mentioned that it was a definite foul on Michael Liddle in the build up to the Torquay goal. It happened right in front of the linesman who seemed unable to make any but the most obvious decisions without first checking with the referee.

I spoke to Podge in the market hall yesterday afternoon and he seemed hopeful rather than optimistic. Think he spent some quality time with physio Les at lunch time. He seemed to be moving okay but if he's at risk of missing more games then i'd let him have a rest and get right. We have an option in Kurtis and even Marcus Carver if he's finally finished his lengthy ban, be good to have a look at both. Plus I'm desperate for Kurtis to get his goal!!! Lol

Think Carver was playing fer youth team yesterday morning, it looked like him to me.

Tomorrow we obviously want to win and finish the season as high as possible but I would be tempted to mix it up a bit if players are carrying knocks as Sparkie says give them a rest and let not just the management but supporters also have look at some of the fringe players like, Hatfield, Kurtis and maybe Carver.

Agree, that i would like to see,;) Doubt very much if Carver will start though after playing yesterday?

Re: Torquay United Match Thread

it makes perfect sense to start with as many of the fringe players as possible.

With the exception of positions where we simply have no option we should be playing players who have a chance of being here next season. As good as Devitt is, as much as I love Bobby Gee, they aren't going to be here next season and we shouldn't be paying wages to either those - or those who aren't playing because of them.

Loans players home and fringe players in please.

Re: Torquay United Match Thread

I would imagine that the loan deals are done, so we would pay them in any case???

But, I agree Macca, whilst I do not want to see The Bulls turn us over 6-1, I would like to see Cooky use his squad and let us see some of the prospects!!!

i agree but i'm sure that the majority of prospects will be from elsewhere and it will be very interesting as to where the cooky/leam net goes trawling

One thing i'm sure of Nige, the net will be cast wider than the previous management, Cooky has contacts on Merseyside n Ireland, n Leam in Yorkshire.;)

You can also bet the search has already started. I know of a couple of lads who have been up to training with a view to trying to impress.

To add to that in my view the simple fact the the net is wider, increases Stanleys chances to advance.:)

Knowing how much travelling around Cooky has done already might be worth a punt in shares for National Tyre, profits should be spiralling in the next few months :)
