Joey Barton

Confirmed on Radio Lancs this morning that Joey Barton will spend a week training with Fleetwood Town. Looks like Mangy has managed to get a trial for his best mate!

Absolutely outrageous how much money that club is spending.

Re: Joey Barton

he's only training with them whilst QPR are away on a pre-season tour - I think they left him behind as he won't be playing the first howevermanygameshe'sbannedfor.

BUT, one site I read yesterday suggested that Fleetwood may look to loan him once the ban is finished. As Smudgie said its scandalous the amount of money Fleetwood are seemingly able to throw about and needs seriously looking into by the League.

Re: Joey Barton

Sounds like a bit of envy to me Rob? let em throw how much they want, if they come unstuck by over reaching......... They pay the price.

Maybe they are just capatilising on the momentum of getting in to the football league ;)

Re: Joey Barton

Strange one but probably no matter which way you look at it it's attracted Google Page Ranking to the Cod Army which if they hold an odd open training session could attract more people into the fold at Fleetwood.

Also they just sold Jamie Vardy for big money, there set up is phenomenal and probably brings in a good income?

Re: Joey Barton

I've got to admit I am jealous of how a two bob outfit like Fleetwood have managed to buy their way to this level (and probably one more). However there are league rules and the money they must be spending surely outweighs their incomings? Fair do's they have banked up to £1.8m from selling Vardy but the players they are signing must be on fantastic wages for this level. For someone like Barton to get anywhere near actually playing for them has got to be out of reach.

Good set-up at Fleetwood I agree, and the way the Chairman is spending cash is little different to what I'd do should I win a 20 week Euromillion rollover. Reports I've seen in the past would suggest the fella is there for the long haul, but I wonder if he has any inkling just how much money has to be thrown at a club in this league. A non league club can be financed for relatively small amounts of brass, but you've got to add at least another zero in the FL. If Fleetwood aren't sustainable he'll find out very quickly

Re: Joey Barton

Qpr loan him out to serve his ban quicker so he can return, fleetwood get a few bob in Google Page Ranking money, lots of free advertising. They prob aren't paying a penny to have him there. Good move by all I would say.

jaysay 24-07-2012 17:52

Re: Joey Barton

Think QPR are going to lone Barton out to a league club to get through his 12 match ban quicker they play more games early in the season than Prem Clubs, so he could be available for QPR earlier, if somebody is thick enough to let um get away with it

Good luck to anyone who takes on Barton. But if Saturday's performance is anything to go by, they'll need him.

Re: Joey Barton

Think the thing is he'll sign on loan for a league club, who will receive a fee from QPR, he won't play a game but is 12 matches will be severed a lot quicker therefore making him available sooner for Rangers

Pretty sure you have got that one spot on Jay - no doubt QPR will be paying his salary as well

Re: Joey Barton

Can't see that happening. If he is out on loan then his 'owning' club is still QPR. The ban is effective until 'his' club have played 12 games

Your wrong their Dave sorry, to go on loan he has to be registered to the club he's joining so their fixtures are the ones that count, that was explained on Sky Sports News the other day, I know it wrong, maybe its a loophole that needs closing

Oh they most certainly will be paying his wages, its the same sort of arrangement used by Prem clubs letting young players go out on loan to get match experience, instead of sitting in the stand every week

Why is this thread in the Accrington Stanley section? This unpleasant individual has nothing to do with our fine club.

Wouldn't be too sure about that if you read the Observer

Re: Joey Barton

It's in the Stanley section as he's training with a club in league 2 at the moment and of the players he's training with there, several are ex Stanley players including his best mate Andy Mangan.

Do I need to list any more reasons?:D

Just imagine if the nutter went out on a season long loan to Fleetwood? With many grounds(like ours)having fans so close to the pitch there'd bound to be a few "incidents"(Cantona style, at Crystal Palace) as the numpty can't keep his fists to himself!:boxing_sm

He wouldn't be able to play, he would still be banned, but by signing on loan for a league club, they start earlier play league cup games earlier therefore eating up his ban, plus the club would get a backhander for their trouble, can't see him sitting on the bench at the crown on a Saturday:rolleyes:
