Decent game, flattering scoreline.

Dawson looked useful as did Watson when he came on.

And the 7.5 million pound player was subbed :D

Having just returned from the match, can I say that in no way did United upstage Stanley, in fact 4-0 is a bit flattering, only Johnstone in the United goal kept them in it in the first half with at least 2 excellent saves. Bohan looked useful with his runs from midfield, Podge and Will Hatfield looked excellent and the back line was strong up until the last couple of minutes of the first half. Never mind can we borrow Bebe, if we are still in the market for a keeper, look no further than Sam Johnstone. Please SAF can we borrow him for a few months, nothing against Bav's, he too made some superb saves too. But we need cover if Bav's is injured. Really enjoyable match and a half decent attendance from Stanley fans young and old.

Thought he played better as the game went on and got more confidence. One slight concern was for a lad 20 foot tall he rarely won a header :)

:) Indeed it was Adam Dawson of wigan he played with number 10 on his back and we've got him on loan for amonth so i was told tonight!! with jc n jb watching on the sidelines and a host of clubs after him looks like we're ahead of everone else:D

Not disappointed at all, Thought it was a good performance overall, The first 45mins Stanley made the most chances, What yeh had tonight was a pretty strong united team, against a team that given our resources, had no right to be in the final. Well done Stanley.:)By the way Accrington last won this in 1888.

I would say there is a 0% chance of us getting Johnstone. He has already been on loan to Oldham and Scunthorpe and after Ben Amos has been loaned to Hull City for the season he will be Man U's 3rd choice this season.

maybe if yer man was as complimentary as it sounds then he should think about sending a few David Beckhams our way now and then. The season that Bury went up was largely thanks to Ajose up front, who was on loan from United. We'll have that Andy Cole fella please

Good point.

Would be nice to see a young lad from those Giants round the M60 pull on a proper red & white shirt :D

Good game to watch first half in partcular we had the better chances but for some good saves we could have been a couple of goals to the good, interesting to see Lee Molyneaux up against Bebe pretty much kept Bebe in his pocket and managed to break forward down the left to link up play a very tidy player and loks a threat from a dead ball situation.

football19 10-08-2012 07:21

Re: LFA Final V Man United Match Thread........

Enjoyed the game, and the players gave it a real go,but it was obvious most had never played 4-2-3-1 and got picked off by utd time and time again.
At times we looked like we were playing 4-1-1-4,and against good players,it maybe entertaining but suicidal.
Our holding players were dragged everywhere and young Hopper must have thought utd had 15 men!!.
Indeed, utd attacked in the first half and molyneaux had 4 men bearing down on him(agree with Google Page Ranking he looked very good).
The game was a good learning curve for the players and will have learned a lot,so credit must go to Cooky for resisting the temptation to play more first team players.
Wouldnt have brought on Toto tho,and although booked,he could have easily been sent off, made no sense considering his lack of discipline!!!.
I think our players would have taken more out the game than theres, which is a positive

cashman 10-08-2012 08:10

Re: LFA Final V Man United Match Thread........

Agree about toto, unless i'm wrong he has now picked up 2 bookings in what i regard as practice games.:( Don't doubt his potential, But thats gonna be wasted unless he learns to control himself a bit. Moleneaux looks very useful,

football19 10-08-2012 09:13

Re: LFA Final V Man United Match Thread........

Would love to see Molyneaux at Acci but cant see it.
Most of our team havent experienced a decent wage(football wise),and he has, it may come as a shock if a contract is offered !!!,
Collecting trollies at Asda and playing part-time would double whats being paid LOL :).
Suspect thats whats happened with the keeper ---but its refreshing to know our players are young and hungry and not Big time Charlies!!!

Toto is a good guy to have on your side in a battle, but he can't keep going to war against opponents and referees. He's going to be suspended for more games than he's available for if he doesn't learn to put a lid on his aggression!

smudgie 10-08-2012 14:33

Re: LFA Final V Man United Match Thread........

Agreed 100% about Toto, the lad has come on leaps and bounds since those nightmare 5 first games he had for us.

IF the inevitable does happen and he does get suspended, with the likes of Tom Eckersley waiting in the wings, he will have to watch his back.
