Re: Kurtis Guthrie

Hope he does well, personally thought he was abit unlucky here.

Just not quite ready for League 2 week in week out, but could do well lower down.

Agree 100%, How anyone can reckon he was unlucky here is beyond me. Under 2 managers the lad obviously didn't show enough, surely that aint rocket science?

Re: Kurtis Guthrie

Kurtis apparently said that he is "very much looking forward to playing for Bath City" and that he "hopes that I can impress in my short term deal to make it permanent. It will be a real challenge."

According to the Manager, they've been "scouring the length of the country for a striker" He also said that Kurtis had impressed in training "both in terms of talent and physicality."

Interesting that it's a short-term deal; good that Kurtis realises that "it will be a real challenge"; surprising that he's impressed "in terms of physicality", because getting pushed around was one of his problems last season at our place .....

I agree with everybody; good luck to the lad - hope he can make something out of this chance

first game at Northampton he had a perfectly good goal ruled out for offside, a few games later he crashed a speculative 35 yarder against the bar at Plymouth. Little things like that can make or break a player.

How many times have people in the know (i class Football19 in this category) said that suchabody is no better than suchabody, just had the lucky break? Had that goal at Northampton stood his confidence would have rocketed. He had done well in pre-season, had quick feet and a trick or two. Granted that he wasn't the strongest physically but neither was I at that age. The goal would have given him the boost he needed and would have improved his apparent bad attitude.

so yes he was unlucky.

He was also wasteful in the sense that he was given an opportunity and word would have it that his attitude towards the game wasn't the greatest.

Spot on Macca, luck plays a massive part, but attitude is key, sometimes you make your own luck, treat every training session as a cup final and you will get a break.

Re: Kurtis Guthrie

I think Kurtis would have benefited from reserve team football last season, unfortunately we had just abandoned that format, so he was unlucky on that count too.

We will have to disagree Macca,As far as i'm concerned, if Coley @ Cooky, Hadn't the faith he would make it, I suggest they got more idea than us, so thats good enough fer me, Football19 has put it in a nutshell "Attitude Is Key" simple as.

To be fair he was loaned out and from what I can gather 'hugged' by the managers he had. Maybe being released by Stanley actually did him a favour and made him realise he had to change ?

Agree with macca
I remember that goal at Northampton it was in-between a diving & stooping header, always thought he would have done well on a hamburger diet because he was so easily knocked of the ball, a young talent with the ability to progress, wishing kurtis good luck at Bath City

He was on a short-term 2-month contract at Bath and, despite his goals, it wasn't renewed after a management reshuffle, probably as an economy measure. Bath reduced their first-team squad to just 14 players and Welling, in the same league, who had had Kurtis on trial pre-season, stepped in and signed him up in November. Kurtis played regularly and had a number of assists but it wasn't until this month's hat-trick that he scored his first goals for them, hence the seventh photo.

Just signed a 2 year deal at Forest Green - wouldn't be surprised to see him back in the league in the future.

Good luck to the lad, he keeps plugging away.
