RedRaine medical news

Those of you who post regularly on here or who stand in the Clayton End may have been missing my ginger friend Mike, (Redraine as he is known on here), at the last couple of home games and on the Accy Web. Mike has been ill for a few years after being diagnosed with Prostrate Cancer problems. He has coped so well in spite of being on various forms of medication and having a range of treatments. During the last year the problem has spread into his bones and late last week he was quite poorly and he was taken into hospital. He underwent a scan and subsequently he has had a major operation to remove some bad stuff from in between two of his spinal lumbar sections. The two adjacent lumbar sections have now been pinned together and he is in recovery. I have not visited him yet but we have been texting each other and he is very chirpy as ever. It will be quite a few weeks I am sure before we see him at matches but please keep him in your thoughts. Please feel free to leave him messages of encouragement on here and I will print them out and take them to him when I can visit.
Thanks Bob Mitchell (choirboy)

Thankyou all of you for responding and for wishing Mike the best as he recovers from his big operation. I have printed them all and am sending them in with his wife asap. I am sure he will be really chuffed that so many of you are thinking of him at this tough time. Bob.

Re: RedRaine medical news

I got a wonderful boost when Bob showed me all your kind wishes, and Susan and I send you all our heartfelt thanks. Due to the amazing work of the Ambulance service, Blackburn Royal Assessment ward and the world-class skill and professionalism of Dr Ghose's team on the Neurosurgical wing at Preston Hospital I am now recovering from my op. back home. I am feeling great, getting about well in my Zimmer frame and learning how to walk again without falling over. I could not have been in a better place in all the world than Preston for my treatment and care, and will always be in the debt of the NHS for giving me some hope of seeing my grandchildren grow up (and maybe Stanley progressing up the tables). I now have to get myself strong enough for a further course of radiotherapy later in the month and must wear my hi-tech NASA back brace for at least three months. I had it made in red and white of course. I am going to try to upload a picture on here taken today of me with my new granddaughter, but knowing me, it might not work. It didn't!

Right, this has gone on long enough! Ever since I've been out of action Stanley have imploded. I need to get back on the Clayton End asap, even though I will have to sit in the hated seats! I am the luckiest bloke in the word, miraculously pain free for the first time in many months, although very wobbly on my feet, and so very grateful for all your kind messages of support. If not Tuesday, I am definitely targeting next Saturday's game. It's too stressful following the Live text thing on the fishy, dreading what the clacking noise is goint to reveal.http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/i...es/biggrin.gif

Re: RedRaine medical news

Latest news on Mike (Redraine).
I called round to see his wife this morning for an update.
Mike went into hospital two days ago after coming down with a bad infection after his first Chemo session, which he had on Tuesday 7th January. (Those who stand on the Clayton End may have noticed his absence for the last two home matches.)
Please keep Mike in your thoughts as he stoically continues his battle against serious illness.
I am sure that Mike will be able to get access to a computer, and hence the Accy Web, and that he will be really cheered up by your good wishes.

I know from personal experience that this is a long, tough uncertain road and hopefully the thoughts and wishes of your friends, and those that know you on this forum (like myself) can give you a little bit of cheer.

All the very best, keep well and hopefully, eventually, the worst part of this year will only be seeing your team lose the odd game. Best Wishes.
