Corners either have runners into the box or use the big lads and lets get some headers in

Totally agree Pendle.R.. but isn't that dependent on the ball reaching 'the runners' or 'the big lads' in the first place...which seems to be the missing element all too often with t'Stanley's Corner-kicks !.

It certainly was last night. Of our 9 corners, I doubt if 3 got beyond the first Oxford defender.

Not a lot wrong wi a low long corner driven hard into the box, yeh don't need big lads fer them. can deflect anywhere if dont reach our lads.

Agreed - but such a corner has to go beyond the defenders at the near post.

Wherever it ends up, i regard as more of a threat than a short corner, plus i view as more exiting fer spectators.;)

most teams now Cashy mark the front post area, not a man.
Suppose you call it zonal marking(bit like putting a wall up at a free kick).
It can be effective as you have to get it over them, but then your keeper comes into play.
Thats why we used to play it along the ground to the edge of the area,a runner stepped over it,and Ryan smashed it first time (not do that for a while).
Alternatively, get some to deliver it like a free-kick,ie,hit with pace just over the wall (molyneaux would be the man,but i also would have him on the edge of the box !).
I agree that we sometimes seem to over complicate, what should be an attacking position.

Well it certainly added to the excitement on Tuesday night. It was positively gripping to see the Oxford defenders at the near post clear the ball straight to their attackers while our centre backs were still awaiting delivery of the corner in the Oxford box.

So the distribution was that bad?

It was indeed. I may be wrong but I can recall only 3 of our corners passing the first defender.

I wonder though, how many of our short corners end up in the box? not a lot i'd bet. n many of those end up wi the opposition.

Actually I think a good proportion of them end up in our net. :(
