No Plymouth Match Thread?

Such a pity, a damn good display today certainly deserved one, Dunno what Leams said to this lot, but its sure as hell worked, Looking forward to Bradford Boxing Day, If i live to be 100 i reckon i'll never see again Rovers Off,Stanley On.:D sure made a big difference to the gate Wi Rovers @ Brighton fans Ta very much people, sure yeh enjoyed the game.;):)

Re: No Plymouth Match Thread?

Rovers being off certainly helped the gate. A lot of Brighton fans came on.

So what's with the red card controversy at the end? He gave two cards, but only our keeper walked?

Chimer 22-12-2012 17:04

Re: No Plymouth Match Thread?

So someone (Cashy?) do tell - red card for our keeper but no last-minute penalty?

Keeper saved a shot, Plymouth forward followed up(for the 3rd time in the match) and keeper reacted. 2 red cards were definitely shown!

Seems strange...never mind, from the way Dan was reporting on t'fishy site and what Cashy's said, sounds like we're really shaping up. Great gate - if only there was no Rovers! ;)

I think it was the Brighton fans that swelled the gate. I was stood next to a few on the Clayton end. And there was quite a few with the Plymouth fans at the other end.

Re: No Plymouth Match Thread?

Was a fair lot of Rovers Fans opposite end of Clayton End To Us Bernard.;)As well as the 2 reds shown, the officials were utterly useless all 90 mins, The Plymouth goal should never have stood, The cowshed linesman missed 2 obvious handballs in Plymouth area, as well as one touchline handball early doors which the clown was less than 3Ft away looking straight at the Plymouth Player, I know its the Panto season but riduculous. would think only the Plymouth Fans can answer the 2 reds question, we certainly saw 2 shown n only one walk, but too far away fer us to know the score unless they show it tonight on telly.

It was a much improved performance from the Reds over the Wycombe game, though you have to remember that Plymouth are struggling at the mo. Plymouth's keeper must have made at least 6 outstanding saves, which makes a change as we haven't been working the opposition keeper much for many a game. Beattie was very close to bagging a hat trick with two sharp efforts whizzing past the post with the keeper nowhere. He got MOM but for me, once again Lee Molyneux was our stand out player with his penetrating runs and decent crosses. However, our big failing is that our central midfielders very rarely bust a gut to get into the box and so many of our crosses go unrewarded.
A very enjoyable game though, and I was very pleased to applaud the lads at the end this week!

We were told yon lad in goal fer em is 3 rd choice keeper? the other 2 must be cracking players.

Re: No Plymouth Match Thread?

Much better display all round today compared to last Saturday. Think Beattie's presence helps as balls up to him stick, his link up play is good and his reputation makes defenders think. Agree Molyneux played well and Joyce was close behind. We created good chances today and on-target ratio was good. Referee definitely showed two red cards and think the club ought to query that one with the football league and I thought he struggled to keep up with play throughout the game. Still don't think we move defenders about enough in the box from our short corner routines. Much improved, but ought to be taking 3 points from games and teams like that.

Agree twas much better, Tis very difficult to take 3 pts anywhere though when the officials are that inept. Also think Plymouth are similar to us, A better side than the position shows.

Cashy, we had enough good chances to win that game but for a great display from their keeper. How many times have we seen free kicks scored from a bad decision to give a foul?

Oh i agree, was great to see balls driven into the box n corners taken long in the main, the Plymouth stopper i thought was superb, but what about the 2 blatant handballs in the plymouth box, agree wi leam am disappointed, but also impressed wi todays effort n looking forward to Boxing Day. cos that will be a good test of how much they have learnt.;)

Re: No Plymouth Match Thread?

Much improved performance today in terrible conditions. The ground staff deserve a medal for getting the game on.
We started in an attacking 4-4-2 system, and probably due to the conditions, went long and direct early on.
Pleasing for me,like the first half at oxford,we defended much higher up the field, which they really didn't have an answer too, although they shut us down very quickly.
We created numerous clear cut chances, but for totos miss ,whch would have put us ahead, we would have definitely gone on to win.
The free kick awarded for there goal was a joke, murph clearly won the ball, but our keeper did head butt their forward,so he had to go.
Getting a free kick on the edge of their box, five minutes after moly went off, summed up our luck !!.
A lot of positives today, hope we keep it up

Just seen us on Skysports news. What an absolute joke the sending off was! Rab gently pressed his forehead against the dirty Plymouth get and he threw himself backwards as if hit by a sledgehammer. The ref can only have seen the reaction and not the initial "contact". What a pathetic cheat.

I believe that the ref showed a yellow and a red, not two reds as I thought initially....... Maybe wrong though??

We all must be colour blind. Deffo two reds, though on Skysports he seemed only to show a yellow???? Will have to wait for more complete TV coverage.

Re: No Plymouth Match Thread?

Well my two pence worth......

Firstly well done to Buzzer and the team, we are usually the first game to go, when I got to around Crewe on the M6 thought there was no chance of the game being on, so congrats to the lads.

Secondly big thanks to the Brighton fans for putting a few extra quid on the gate.... the ones I chatted to in the Clayton End seemed a great bunch.

So to the match........... no doubt we seemed to have improved with a much better performance. As others have said the referee really was appalling today, got nothing right. Molyneux again was the stand out for me, as soon as he was withdrawn it totally changed the game. Essential we try and keep the lad, as he is beginning to show his talent. I would say Beattie is still only 50% fit, but he only needs one chance as we all know, any chance of staying till May time James ?? ;)

Toto again is a complete Enigma for me, he makes some unbelievable tackles one minute and then looks a complete liability the next. However Leam seems reluctant to play Eckersley so it looks like he will be staying in the side.

I couldent really see the Rachubka incident, but by the sounds of it, its a 3 game ban?? Will be a huge test for Dawber, thats for sure. Maybe im biased but surely the match was made for a cameo for Hatfield to pop up yesterday???? Not sure what he has done wrong.

Final point is on young Carver, who I havent seen play since the Blackburn friendly. He seems to have grown about 6 inches for a start, as well as showing some great touches on the ball, definitely made massive progress since the summer :)

Roll on Boxing Day. :)

Merry Xmas to all.

My take on young Carver, think the fact beattie is wi us seems to be doing the kid a power of good? agree wi smudge would love him to stay until May.

Re: No Plymouth Match Thread?

Very frustrated. For us to have played so well and improved so much from the previous week and not to have won the game is bordering on criminal.

Our shape was good and while our distribution down the flanks could've been better, we created chances with impressive regularity.

Peter Murphy was the standout performer in my eyes, but there were a lot of good individual performances. The only one I was concerned with was Toto who was beaten far too often by Argyle's wide man. In fairness he was clearly out of his comfort zone but lacks the versatility of Winnard. Leam, get yer boots on.

The referee was diabolical. The free kick for Plymouth's goal should never have been. He failed to control Plymouth's scything challenges. He failed to judge the fracas at the end (Chubs and Feeney went head-to-head in traditional handbags manner before Feeney hurled himself to the ground, acting like he'd been headbutted - how the ref gave a red to our lad and not Feeney is beyond me). He failed also to add on the time for the whole incident. I hope the buffoon is pulled up for his incompetence.

A frustrating day but the players must keep this up. On any other day - without a referee on a controlled substance or without Gordon Banks in goal for the opposition - we would've won convincingly.

A great success by Buzzer and co, really well done. Just shows how far we have come in that department to get a game on in such circumstances.

Have a good Christmas everyone.

Re: No Plymouth Match Thread?

Agree with you smudgie on young carver. All the young lads have talent, what sets them apart from the next step up is mental strength.
A lot of our young lads seem to have it,so I am really hopeful for the next few seasons.
For example,Clarke comes in and you would never have known he's been on the side lines, and miller has to sit on the bench against oxford, but was great yesterday, really good signs for players so young.
I would like to see eckersley have a go,but I would play him alongside dean, with murph as the holding midfielder.

Re: No Plymouth Match Thread?

That made very intersting reading.Had it come from a Stanley supporter it would be classed as "sour grapes" but from Plymouth fans , well it says it all. I do hope that Leam reads these and appeals against the red card.

Re: No Plymouth Match Thread?

Only 2 and a half minutes were played beyond the 90 !!! The referee was an absolute joke. Also adding praise to Buzza and the team who worked hard to get the match on. Been telling people it was also partly due the "High Tech" covers....plastic tarps from B&Q??? The pitch held up remarkably well and did not seem to cut up at all. Roll on Bradford.
