Liam Richardson Mnagerial Record
Who can deny his record as a manager is shockingly bad?
A few facts about Liam. Great person Great coach Not yet ready to be a football league manager The main argument on this board for keeping Liam is to show loyalty. Can I remind you the club showed great loyalty to Liam when he was injured for an entire season and our funds where tight. Loyalty is admirable, but football league status is essential. We have dropped to within 2 points of the drop with teams like Barnet and Plymouth starting to show fight and picking up points. There are no whipping boys this season as there have been in previous years occupying one of the bottom slots. It looks as if 50 points will be required this season to stay up. I cant see us geting another 18 points with the status quo. Without a change of manager, relegation looks inevitable. |

Did you go yesterday?? :)

Re: Liam Richardson Mnagerial Record
It's Leam :)
On the 10th Feb 2007 after winning promotion to the league and a lot more funds available the then managerial team had Accrington Stanley in 19th place in the league and 3 points above the drop zone. 33 points from 31 games. Did you call for the managers head then ? |

Re: Liam Richardson Mnagerial Record
If you look at the team leam inherited, there was potential (away win at fleetwood), but he was unlucky on a few areas.Atkinson going back,Bavs getting injured, dean struggling with injuries to name a few.
The acid test for me was his January signings, and to me he addressed all the areas that were a concern. Experienced good pros at right back, centre back, keeper and mid-field. The only area now is putting the ball in the net,and once this happens(and it will happen),I am sure we will be ok. I was concerned about pace up top,and Grey steps up,Ball winner in midfield, and Murph(given time) would fit this role. Therefore,as a manager he seems to know what's required,it now upto the players IMHO,Leams assembled a decent squad of lads,so he's not done badly, maybe unlucky at times, but he's due a bit of luck |
Re: Liam Richardson Mnagerial Record
Well 1387 stanley fans turned up at the game yesterday to give there support to Leam and get behind the boys, and i heard nowt to suggest other wise:)

Re: Liam Richardson Mnagerial Record
I hope I am wrong, but what we now need to be is hard to beat.
This is particulary true if you lack goals in the team, which we do. I dont see that happening under Leam. None of you have expressed what you think what point total you expect will be enough to stay up. Here are the remaining games; Exeter V Accrington Accrington V Cheltenham Rochdale V Accrington Accrington V Torquay Northampton V Accrington Accrington V Fleetwood Accrington V Barnet Accrington V Wimbledon Gillingham V Accrington Wycombe V Accrington Accrington V Burton Albion York V Accrington Accrington V Morecambe Bristol Rovers V Accrington Accrington V Oxford Utd Wih the staus quo I can only see 3 wins, Barnet, wimbledon and Burton, with possibly the odd draw here or there. Not beating Wimbledon and Barnet is inconcievable. But 10 more points wont be enough. And why are some of you unable to have a discussion without throwing insults? |
Re: Liam Richardson Mnagerial Record
The FANtastic support yesterday was a healthy 388 home fans UP on the last game v Daggers.
No offers, apart from the vouchers to schools, which is encouraging fans of the future. Lets get behead LEAM and our team and as always IF you want a chat about ASFC call down to the ground and you'll find people around ready to have a word. Likewise if you live away and only come on match days see any of our Directors (some of whom stand on the Clayton End) and talk. But most of all get behind the team and be the positive!!:) |

Its the kind of questions which the club directors need to be asking. Blindly accepting relegation is folly. It was the same 'get behind the club' rubbish which supported O'neills SOS campaign and prevented the lies coming out sooner. People may not like the idea of the manager being scrutinised, but the results speak for themselves. |
Re: Liam Richardson Mnagerial Record
Turn this on its head then Davo, what do you think Leam has done wrong?.The league this season is much stronger with no whipping boys, look at our results against the top teams.

Re: Liam Richardson Mnagerial Record
This season still has a long way to go (15 games) I agree our position in the league is a worry but surely any thought of a change of manager would be foolish at this time, I really don’t see how any other manager would give us a better chance of survival in the league, we would still have the same batch of players, that is of course and less we have a multi-millionaire ready to invest in Stanley

Re: Liam Richardson Mnagerial Record
We are where we are in the League it has been a frustrating time for Fans but I am sure the Management feel just as frustrated there needs to be a fight and a siege mentality particularly at Home which was there in abundance in the second half yesterday we were so unfortunate not to get the three points.

Re: Liam Richardson Mnagerial Record
Leam Richardson took over a team ill-equipped to overcome adversity. Paul Cook signed a squad with too little experience and abandoned his young team after a run of four defeats. Leam inherited this team and worked to address weaknesses quickly. He correctly saw a lack of experience and moved to sign players with knowledge and quality. Putting a team together is one thing but turning a team heading for the bottom into one which will survive is another. We were heading for free fall well before Leam took over.
Yesterday's performance was that of a team with enough quality to compete as well as something to prove. The players are battling for each other and the manager - that solidarity was there for all to see yesterday. I thoroughly believe Leam Richardson is the right man for the job and that we will stay up under his stewardship. I don't see anything that anyone else could do any better. If we do end up losing our fight, it will not be down to inadequate management. Each and every Stanley fan ought to be fully behind the gaffer. |

Re: Liam Richardson Mnagerial Record
Can I clarify, im not saying Leam will not become a successful league manager, but right now he is not the man for the job.
Again, if he remains in charge I hope you all get to laugh at me at the end of the season and put in huge bold letters 'i told you so'. |
