Stanley Fans are...

renowned through lower league football for their unerring support, not just for the team but for the club itself.

Remember with fondness the days when a trip to Horwich was a 'big' game and days at Boston were akin to Wembley. Remember the pride that welled up beating Farsley, Altrincham and Woking to secure the 3 titles that brought us this far.

Remember walking 17 miles to Rochdale in monsoon-esque conditions with 'Owd Betts invoking Kilimanjiro. Remember candle-lit vigils and bucket shaking. Remember that You are a Stanley fan and @#!k the Tax Man and his bills.

Remember the Peel Park march and the Cheltenham march and the public displays of Red and Whitery. Remember Loftus Road and the standing ovation that we and the team got by the Londoners. Remember every single occasion on our travels when we have been significantly outnumbered by home fans yet we sing loud and proud and shame the homers with our gravel voiced Northerness.

Remember with pride every flag that ever waved in the wind, every shred of confetti that celebrated a Stanley goal, every bounce, DISCO or hoots mon. It doesn't matter whether you are the left side or the right side, cow shed or main stand, Saturday is our Little Big Horn.

Its not quite our last stand but its where our last stand begins. How can we ask the players to stand proud and put their backs to the wall if some of us can't do it? They're here because its their job, we're here because we love the club and we damn well pay for the right to show League 2 what we're made of.

If you feel the need to shout disparagingly please bite your lip. Lets show Cheltenham and their SU wannabe band of supporters what the Clayton End can really do. Lets get the middle section packed out and raise the roof.

Is it too late to organise the flags? little wavy ones for the kids as they go in Mark? Lets make saturday one to remember and if we're going to go down this season we'll at least go down fighting.

Superb speech Rob, reflecting exactly what it means & what it is all about being a Stanley Boys supporter. Sadly, having retired down to Cornwall, I am not going to be there but I am always there in spirit, every match, feeling every tackle, kick & goal, for or against. The club, management, staff & players need our full support, not derisory, critical comments. On Stanley On - ALWAYS
