It does say "former" in the report.

Should put a few on the gate for the next few home games - 2 ex-England Strikers upfront for little old Stanley.

Just get Robbie Fowler now and we could have our own "holy trinity"

Wouldn't put too much store on that, after he left Everton his career went down hill, hardly got a kick at Rovers

Smudgie posted this SEVEN years ago !!....and there have been other in-depth analyses of Franny Jeffers' footballing qualities ( or no !) in the intervening period....however it does pose a couple of questions for now !..
1. Does the current speculation mean that it has taken the Club this length of time to decide whether this lad who has had more clubs than Colin Montgomery is the player to knock in the goals which will be needed to ensure that Stanley's relegation 'Dog-fight' ends with a positive result ??...and more importantly..

2. Why have Smudgie's posts never improved in quality given the vast amount of practice he has had over the years ??.

If I remember rightly a consensus of opinion on our Forum over the years has usually concluded that Frannie Jeffers no longer has the status of a productive and feared striker and would therefore be of little use to any club at any level !..
Of course he could have sharpened up a little due to his persistent perambulations around the Soccer world, and just might derive some benefit from the guidance and advice available from our other International player..... I refer to the magnificent Romuald Boco of course !!.

p.s. Alfred,E. doesn't rate Mr Jeffers much either !

Smudgie !...I always read your well written blogs and posts on this forum with interest. As to whether I provide better efforts in my chosen areas of interest is of little matter to me !.
Can I assure you that the bye-line (2) in my post was in truth intended as a cheeky little jest rather than a direct critique !.... It was not at all intended to offend your obvious abilities where the written word is concerned and if it has caused you some distress then I do apologise...
Your chastening riposte has also served to remind me that there must be more sensitive souls than myself reading and contributing to our Forum ,and thus more attention will need to be taken to ensure that my 'slightly- skewed-at-times' views and opinions are tempered accordingly....

p.s. I have, in my dotage, developed several disturbing eccentricities, however the descent into Idiocy has not yet become apparent !.

Re: Jeffers deal close

Should Jeffers sign I'd be worried about the negative press he'd bring. His actions at Sheff Wednesday were enough to put me off any future image of him in a Stanley shirt, let alone his recent activities with domestic tools: Francis Jeffers appears in court after brandishing a broomstick outside father-in-law's flat | Mail Online

If Jeffers is serious about regaining some credibility through working hard and contributing to our survival effort by scoring goals then I wouldn't begrudge him the chance. My only other concern is that we have young Marcus Carver chomping at the bit to get playing time; would another arrival in the forward ranks benefit or hinder his progress?

cashman 08-03-2013 14:54

Re: Jeffers deal close

To be honest shaker i reckon the likes of Jeffers/Beattie, can only benefit Marcus, whilst the lads gives 100% without doubt, in my book he aint quite up to Div2 level yet.

I dont think young Carver, is quite up to it, just yet.

Maybe another loan spell in the BSP to get his confidence back would do him the world of good.

Not sure if your mate Will is too chuffed, though? We now have 2 versions of the "Fox in the box", the original one and a younger version.

Play in 2 different positions mate.

Shame really but I cant see Will being here next season, a few League 2 clubs are interested. :(

Perhaps smudgie's a graduate of the Keith Waterhouse school of journalism.:)

He fought long crusades to highlight what he perceived to be a decline in the standards of modern English; for example, he founded the Association for the Abolition of the Aberrant Apostrophe.

Hope he can recover his form in the lead up to Wednesday putting Stoke to the sword on their last visit to the Britannia Stadium before Franny got tackled by Shawcross.

I'd like to have seen him treated differently after his later sending off at Port Vale.

Nice if he could sign off with a glorious swansong at Stanley getting them into League One and keeping them there.

thats a good read Mike, he comes across really well to be honest and doesn't sound like the type of person that many assume he is.

Just one point ... "tonight he will definitely start for Accrington" ?

good luck Franny, we all hope you get the goals to restart your career.
