Pride and Passion

I'm sure the club will forgive me if I lift, and reproduce, part of Peter Marsden's message from the fishy, which says it all, really .....

"Please would the town get behind Leam and the boys and roar us on to 3 points on Saturday. It is vital we stay in the League. Many people have worked long and hard to get us back to where we belong - as a Football League club - we can't and won't fail them now.

We realise that everyone is feeling the pinch in the tough economic climate but come on Accrington let's fill the ground.

WE ALL HAVE A PART TO PLAY

On Stanley On.

Peter Marsden
Chairman
Accrington Stanley Football Club "

What we need from now until 6.00pm on April 27th is uncompromised and total faith in, and support for, OUR team ....... It's when things get tough that people need to demontrate, wholeheartedly, their complete and unswerving loyalty to the team they support .......

This is the time for folk to walk through fire and shout the lads on; yes, we can groan when the shot's over the bar, but let the players know that we appreciate their efforts, and trust that they'll respond to the absolute maximum of their abilities..............

If that's not enough, then so be it, but "Sack the Manager", "Bring Back the Legends", and "The Worst Team I've Seen in the 200 years I've been supporting Stanley" DO NOT HELP. Indeed, they are so destructively negative that they contribute to - and eventually become - the problem, so if you've got an issue - please - for the next six weeks, can you keep it to yourself and ROAR THE LADS ON?

Keep the Faith! :dflam:

I sincerely hope that Peter Marsden has ensured that a copy of this exhortation...written in the largest font available, has been pasted on the Home Dressing Room wall !!...
The pride and the passion which all true fans WILL be
generating on behalf of our team in these trying times
cannot be questioned !...
Yet this is only a half of the story because the unwritten contract between Fans and Players must always be..'We will give our wholehearted support to you because we know you are giving of your best on the field '.
The Team, as Leam Richardson admitted, did not fulfill
their side of the contract whatsoever on Tuesday night and thus true Stanley hearts sank very low !... ( why one or two on our Forum even questioned the abilities of our Manager !)...
So, if like Peter Marsden I have an impassioned plea to make , it is that every member of tomorrow's squad gives us a performance to be proud and passionate about and thus ensure a 100%, rock-solid effort from all concerned with the wonderful entity known as Accrington Stanley !

Re: Pride and Passion

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more;
Or close the wall up with our English dead.
In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility:
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger;
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,
Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage;
Then lend the eye a terrible aspect;
Let pry through the portage of the head
Like the brass cannon; let the brow o'erwhelm it
As fearfully as doth a galled rock
O'erhang and jutty his confounded base,
Swill'd with the wild and wasteful ocean.
Now set the teeth and stretch the nostril wide,
Hold hard the breath and bend up every spirit
To his full height. On, on, you noblest English.
Whose blood is fet from fathers of war-proof!
Fathers that, like so many Alexanders,
Have in these parts from morn till even fought
And sheathed their swords for lack of argument:
Dishonour not your mothers; now attest
That those whom you call'd fathers did beget you.
Be copy now to men of grosser blood,
And teach them how to war. And you, good yeoman,
Whose limbs were made in England, show us here
The mettle of your pasture; let us swear
That you are worth your breeding; which I doubt not;
For there is none of you so mean and base,
That hath not noble lustre in your eyes.
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Stanley, England, and Saint George!'

At last Exile....a kindred spirit !!.....tell you what though if he continues to persist in this erudite vein would you think there is a likelihood of him being bard ??..Incidentally, my sinews are already stiffened up as far as they'll go..and the noble lustre in my eye vanished years ago following my first brush with Laser Surgery ! ...but the game is afoot and...if you will forgive me Jeg Red..
" Perish the man whose mind is backward now "

ps. Mab also revels along with The Swan of Avon..as his
" We band of Brothers " etc proves to us all !!.

Don't know about Othello, perhaps the Tempest would be a more appropriate title. Here's hoping that contemplating another season in League 2 doesn't become A Midsummer Night's Dream!

As with many on this site, I hope all this talk of relegation is Much Ado About Nothing.
Exit stage left to sound of trumpet.:jimbo:

What we certainly don't want is A Comedy of Errors. We really do hope it's a case of All's Well That Ends Well.

Exit stage right to the sound of groans.

Behold the turtle. He makes progress only when he sticks his neck out.

Come on Beattie and Jeffers, give it your all for one last time.

Think we need something a bit faster than the great A'Tuin up front Dav007.
