Wimbledon match thread

Let's blitz 'em from the start again as on Saturday and clear from the back with a little more composure when under pressure. Let's also see plenty of movement from the midfield in those defensive situations to give the player in possession plenty of options other than the hopeful punt forwards.!
Bring it on.

Let's give it all for the team and Leam on Tuesday night....:jimbo:Bring as many friends, relatives and random people off the street as you can!!!:jimbo:Great result on Saturday in an important "six pointer". Tuesday is our next cup final!!! and it is another six pointer!!!. The support on Saturday against Barnet was BRILLIANT and it was fabulous to see the colour from the ULTRAS back on display:alright:..Well done guys and thanks. The Ultras sang for the whole 95+ minutes and it was just like the old days!!:wave8: More please and another 3 points in our great escape!! ON STANLEY ON!!:jimbo::jimbo::jimbo:

Re: Wimbledon match thread

If we play like we did in the first half against Barnet, we will get a good result. If we play like we did in the second half against Barnet it will be like the Fleetwood game. We have to get some sort of result tomorrow night or I fear we will have missed a great opportunity. However, Wimbledon are a good team and are in decent form at the minute.

Franny has had at least 4 efforts on goal including his goals. He had some unfinished business in England when he left Hillsborough and I think he'll prove it by becoming a legend at Stanley.:D

See Amine Linganzi passed for the first and Laurence Wilson laid on the third and Lee Molyneux has had some shots and crosses too.

Hi,
it may be useful if Gillingham could win.
It would keep Rochdale hovering above the relegation zone and maybe give the Gills a false sense of security at the top of the league, come Saturday we smash them.

Its 1-1, Gills on top at the moment.

Well that's exactly what we got tonight. A stunning performance, taking our first half display against Barnet and moving it up a couple of notches. The movement and power of our front men was a joy to watch and the Dons were just blown away. Deano and Aldred were back to their domineering form at Rochdale and Linganzi and Joyce ruled the centre midfield. It 's not fair to pick out individuals, though, as we were strong in every department. Far from relegation, that was promotion form!

accybeme 20-03-2013 11:58

Re: Wimbledon match thread

Brilliant display by Stanley and not just the win it was the commitment shown to win and the desire to chase down every loose ball, that inspired the fans & team alike which eventually infused confidence in their passing moves that had been sadly lacking in this latter half of this season, Joyce had previously been looking like a player to drop was suddenly transformed to a midfield supremo, the fox in the box showed us his class admittedly looked to be tire towards the end of the match but still refused to let that stand in his way and elected to chase balls down.

Re: Wimbledon match thread

Another good thing about last night...in the past, whenever we've had one of these "showcase" matches where we've a large number of casual fans on, our performance has invariably proved a let-down, giving them no reason to come back. After that display, surely it's too much to expect that at least a couple of hundred of them will be there again on Easter Monday?

Tom D 20-03-2013 17:42

Re: Wimbledon match thread

Jeffers offers us something I haven't seen for a while at Stanley - a striker who can hold the ball up and find a decent pass when support arrives. Also his timing for the through balls was excellent, beat the offside trap every time.
