That's got to be a wind up! Would be good for the gate figures though. An extra 500 from the west trying to kill him, and 500 from the east to salute their agent hero.

Allow me to answer that. Just about everything, including slag off his predecessor. In public!!

I saw several Blackburn games when Kean was manager. It was embarrassing. The worst was the Carling Cup game at Cardiff. He picked a 3rd rate team, later admitting he didn't want to win. That was an offence to the Blackburn fans who had travelled all that way for an evening game, some staying overnight. Blackburn were outthought, outclassed, outplayed.

In none of the six games I watched was there any evidence of tactics.

At first, I thought he was being hard done by - and then I watched the games.

And then there were his post-match interviews in which he always wanted to "take the positives". The man was deluded.

That's your answer, DAV007. Or do you know better from your viewing of the Blackburn games?

Redraine 11-05-2013 14:38

Re: New Manager

And don't let the fact that he took them from a comfortable upper half Premier league position to a miserable relegation fool you either, Davo. His reign was best summed up by their crucial away game at Spurs which they needed to win, when instead of battling to save their lives the team managed only one shot on goal in the match, and that was in injury time.

jaysay 11-05-2013 14:57

Re: New Manager

What nobody seems to understand about the Kean issue is that it was a conspiracy (cue MargaretR) When Venky's were negotiating to buy the club they were advised by Jerome Anderson, a football agent, who just happened to be Steve Kean's agent too, within a matter of weeks BFS had been sacked and Kean installed as caretaker manager which soon became full time on a whacking great big contract of which my 15% got a massive pay increase, plus he advised on player input which in all cost agents fees of around £4.5 million, then of course there was the stupidity blurted out after every abysmal display, which was nearly every week. when all said and done football is about fans not prima dona managers or footballers, just a point I haven't noticed to many managers who were so vocal in decrying the fans for the way Kean got stick, jumping in with offers of work:rolleyes:

I really struggle to understand why fans of the club would not want Coleman & Bell back at the club.

"They ditched us once before" - do you really blame them? They had a chance after giving over a decade of their lives to us and taking us to the promised land. They are ambitious and wanted to try to prove themselves at a higher level. It didn't work out. Big deal.

"They said they'd taken us as far as they could" - they had at the time; since then the club has gone backwards on the field. No one can doubt that. Off the field we are only marginally better. Players not paid recently.

"Bullish personalities" - so what. Are you really that offended? They are winners and love the club. They are flawed but give their all. Surely that's all that matters?

I'm not wanting to start typical accyweb handbags but I'd love to understand the opposition.

People who oppose JC and JB have a real problem.

They cant oppose them on their record with Stanley - they are the greatest thing to happen to the club
They cant oppose them on players and building teams - they are masters in turning a rough diamond into a gem.
They cant oppose them on desire to go forward - they took Stanley into the football league and believed they could keep Rochdale up and took the plunge to leave the comfort of Stanley for Spotland.
They have a desire and ambition to succeed.

So they oppose them on their city of birth, they oppose them on their personalitys, and they oppose them on their percieved poor conduct.

And IMO opinion, those 3 reasons which are continualy spouted on here are disgusting.
But hey, some of these so called fans then make statements which expose them for the 'real fans' they are NOT - 'I will find it hard to go the game anymore if they are appointed'.
They are not fans at all, and they dont represent what this club stands for.
Their comments are shameful.

Facts speak louder than opinion, and when it comes to the raw facts and stats, JC & JB are more than perfect for Stanley.

Obviously you don't spend as much time on Rovers message boards as I do, Sam's style of football wasn't the best but he was brought to the club for one reason, to keep Rovers in the Prem, a job he's quite good at, ask West Ham fans, Newcastle suffered the fate of sacking Sam and were relegated the season after. Rovers fans thought that when Sam was removed it was because he was being replaced by a top line manager, not the dip stick we ended up with, what happened was Rovers went into free fall and only just managed to stave of relegation for a second successive season. If Sam were still at Ewood we would probably still be in the Prem

Although like you Sam I find the repetition of those needless 'I said/You said' posts on this particular thread a bit wearing..I feel that it just a case of flexing the muscles which control the ability to create critical and personal repartee until the expected 'big news' of next week is unveiled, which should provide all of those who cause you concern to really go ballistic !...I hope !!.
BUT it is an open Forum, well moderated, and thus we are all free to choose whatever words in whatever style we adopt to make our points and state an opinion....which in turn motivates others..which keeps the wheels turning !...for which I for one am glad !.

At one time this forum was an place for interesting debate and source of info on the latest news from the club for people, especially for people who don't live near accy.

At the moment it's 5 or so people arguing who said what, telling each other their opinion is wrong and calling each other idiots. Fair enough there are some insightful posts scattered throughout this thread (shakermakers replies are one example), but you have to trawl through the rest of it.

It's a shame really. I hope any prospective fans aren't reading any of this rubbish. It would certainly put me off the club.
