Hopefully it won't be a setback with the 2-2 draw, stanley are building an awesome team. The whole squads at their fittest and are players are still trying to gel as a team. I predict Stanley can definitely challenge for the play offs this season, lets hope.

Re: Stalybridge Celtic Fixture

Putting my optimistic Davo head on,there was a better structure/shape to our play and we scored two good goals (byline pull back, and a nice passing move). So hats of to the new academy lad was on the line.
The young lads will have enjoyed it,as Stalybridge are a few levels higher than there use to,so it gives them a 12 month target to we're they should be.
Negative, only Dean and Joycy looked capable of a first team spot on Saturday.
Our old boys super mac and hatch played for them (both got subbed !).

It's a matter of opinions F19

For me great to see Marcus get off the mark well worked goal and thought once he went off we were constantly on the back foot, I agree with what you said about Watson and I thought Luke Greaves had a tremendous game.

Luke Joyce looked sharper gaining fitness and Windass & Gray did okay.

The number four for Stalybridge was exceptional, I thought Sean McConville and their number nine also had good games.

Another game that's all eight pre-season ones done and thoroughly enjoyed them, plenty of talking points some good performances & one abject one, some new grounds ticked off and some great food and beverages consumed on the way.

Next time can we do a pre-season tour Abroad?

On Stanley On

Re: Stalybridge Celtic Fixture

Dawber and Watson were both poor tonight, Watson was caught on the wrong side of their attackers a few times and gave the penalty and a few free kicks away. Dawber's positioning was not the best and was caught in possession a number of times.

Carver had an impressive game and looked very good in the second half, the game changed as soon as he went off. We had no real attacking outlet and we struggled to have any possession as Stalybridge created a few chances and had the lions share of possession in the last 20 mins.

A lot to think about after this game and I think it would be useful for Dawber to go out on loan to get some gametime and gain some confidence.

Me too !

Dawber has potential but is still very raw, Is Bavs fully fit?!?!? We certainly need a number 1 IMO ¬

Re: Stalybridge Celtic Fixture

Having seen most of the PSF my observations are

Watson out of is depth /not good enough

dawber not ready/needs to go out on loan

dunbavin not sure/ heart tells me we need a commanding new keeper

carver and webber to play together up front

defence aldred/Atkinson in middle liddle as sweeper hunt and Wilson bombing full backs

I have a feeling Naismith back on season long loan

I Just try and keep it real Pendle,we played a average BSN team, who had conceeded ten goals in there last couple of games.
Carver worked hard in the first half, but i only seen glimses of improvement since i watched him for Marine(same standard).
He improved in the second half when we went 4-3-3 with Grey leading the line and he was coming in from the inside left channel.
Hes a far better player when facing ,rather than back to goal(hit the post with a 25 yard rocket).
Bags of potential, but so have others, needs to keep improving

Pendle Red 31-07-2013 09:53

Re: Stalybridge Celtic Fixture

I agree about the facing & also think the goal will be a monkey off his back & a chance to push on.

Personally think our young strikers will never have a better chance to improve wi the likes of Beats @ Webber helping em along.;)

When doe,s the loan market open because I think James will possibly in my opion will probaly bring in 2 or 3 loanees a keeper I agree maybe a midfielder and another front man looking forward to Saturday new ground for me and looking like a sell out for home fans.

I thought it opened on the 31st August. I may be wrong though

AFC Wimbledon have recently signed Charlton Athletic Striker Michael Smith on a loan deal until January. Smith was on loan to Stanley for a short period in 2011/12 season. I thought he wasn't that bad at all.

that's a bit harsh Smudgie, he was only here for a month and then had one injury - a season finishing one!!!

Nowt to say he's been injured elsewhere

Agree, don't know his medical history but, in the short spell at Stanley, I thought he looked a good prospect. Maybe we'll see when we play The Wombles (assuming he's fit).
