Stanley v Cardiff
If it wasn't for bad luck, we would have No luck at all.
|
Re: Stanley v Cardiff
Agreed Cashy, but its winnable!
|
Re: Stanley v Cardiff
Thats a pants draw! At least we're at home, though I expect Mr T may need a cup of tea and a sit down in a darkened room given the reputation of their 'fans'. I remember being a steward when they came in preseason a few years back and they were fighting themselves!
|
Re: Stanley v Cardiff
I've wanted Cardiff in a cup drawer for a few years now but I wanted it away from home so we could win and take some money off the Welsh into the bargain. This is a winnable tie so we should now look forward with optimism. Could well be televised.
|
Re: Stanley v Cardiff
Premier League new boys at home? I'd consider that a good tie. They aren't exactly overrun with household names so I wouldn't imagine it drawing a huge crowd (by our standards) but hopefully it'll be a telly match. Looking through the draw I would have thought that only Morecambe v Newcastle or Doncaster v Leeds seem like particularly appetising games.
Win this and get a bigger draw in the next round please |

I will be amazed if Sky televise that un Rob. Shrimps v Newcastle i would reckon.
|
Re: Stanley v Cardiff
My moneys on a Weds 28th match, seems Cardiff are playing on the Sunday before.:) But don't tell R.H. pmsl.

ITV and the BBC do, but Sky like to add variety. The only thing which may work against us is the televised game Vs Pompey being so close to the 2nd round dates. |
Re: Stanley v Cardiff
I'll take that. A battle of Britain with a top flight side at home. Looking forward to it. :):)
|
Re: Stanley v Cardiff
we've got Burton on the friday night following so maybe no scope other than a Tues game, unless Sky cross our palm with much gold of course.
|
Re: Stanley v Cardiff
Decent draw for Stanley home game Premiership side can't really ask for more.
Not quite sure how it would work fixture wise but Burnley also take on PNE in the next round so that may also have a bearing on the night of the fixture as well as Cardiff playing against City on the Sunday. |
Re: Stanley v Cardiff
Michael Liddle on Cardiff:-
"take out any team with the accy ultras behind us lad!" Aye, 'twas a great feeling for the Accy 187 noisily leaving the Riverside Stadium on Tuesday. The prawn sandwich brigade at Old Trafford can keep winning their boring Premiership titles - they can't even begin to feel the same sense of achievement we had that night! |
Re: Stanley v Cardiff
The flame burns on.
|
Re: Stanley v Cardiff
I think it's a decent draw. They'll be more interested in Premiership survival this season than the league cup,so i can see them putting a reserve side out and Stanley beating them!
|
Re: Stanley v Cardiff
I was pleased with this draw - it will be the most high profile game for 3 years.
I would guess it is played on the Wed and the Burton game is moved back? |
Re: Stanley v Cardiff
:) Fantastic Draw for Stanley a most winnable game against the prem new boys, think i'm right in saying this will be there 3rd game of the season to our 6th. Hit the ground running Boys and we'll stuff em,we owe a prem team a beating ;):D

Re: Stanley v Cardiff
I like that post by "Gronovic" on that thread. Put it up in our dressing room, Beatts!

Re: Stanley v Cardiff
We could probably do without the cup run in our maiden Premier League season, but what happened in 2011 leaves me in two minds. But don't get me wrong - offer any Cardiff fan 17th in the PL instead of the C1 Cup or even the FA Cup and you know which we'd choose.
As others have said above, it will be our development squad most likely - although we're probably coming off a massive loss in front of Sky cameras the previous Sunday so who knows. Maybe Malky will play a strengthened squad for morale purposes.... Looking forward to it anyways. :) Who should we look out for? Any stand out players you boys can mention? |
Re: Stanley v Cardiff
Don't underestimate our substitutes.:D

Re: Stanley v Cardiff
Sorry for the delay in the announcement, not too much I can say in public but a lot of people had to be consulted.
Wasn't helped by some of the Cardiff admin people being out of the country so e-mail exchanges were at odd times. Other games in the county plus Sky's selections were all part of the discussions;) |
Re: Stanley v Cardiff
So we could be on tv then !!:-D
|
Re: Stanley v Cardiff
So we are playing on Wednesday and again on Friday. No wonder Wenger and Ferguson have complained about fixture congestion. It will be even worse when we are in Europe.:) Oops - we are now. Playing Cardiff.

[QUOTE=lancsdave;1071396]We sell the t-shirts, not a problem to add the word Stanley in there :D
Might just pop in for one! What's making me particularly grumpy today is that I'll now miss the Burton game as we will be on the train to Inverness on the Saturday to pick up a hired campervan for touring the Scottish highlands and islands. Grrr! |
Re: Stanley v Cardiff
You will have a wonderful time!
The Scotch mist is no problem but beware the midges. :D |
