Bury by train
Only ever visited Gigg lane by car, has anyone ever walked from the station?
How long did it take? |
Re: Bury by train
Do you mean the tram terminus?

Re: Bury by train
From the interchange it is under a mile, closer than Spotland to the station.
The last bus direct back is 1735 which should give you good enough time. For the train you would have to get the tram from Manchester so takes a lot longer than the bus and costs more. |

Re: Bury by train
Like Chewbacca says above: the 484 does Accrington-Bury. Last one back is 5:35 or you can go a bit later by switching bus at Haslingden.

Re: Bury by train
Surely Davo will be travelling from Liverpool?

Re: Bury by train
The easiest for me is train to Bolton then bus to Bury but that's from Scotland however by train from Accy that would be the easiest option I'd think and there are later ones than the 484 bus
|
Re: Bury by train
Well/ whatever it is, Davo's going to have to catch it.
Davo, get a train from Lime St to Victoria, change to the Bury tram. As Accybeme says, it's a 20 minute walk to the ground...with one or two excellent hostelries along the way! |

Re: Bury by train
An option from Accy, especially with a bus pass, is the X41 down the M66 to Prestwich, then a short walk to catch a north-bound 135 which stops on Manchester Road close to Gigg Lane. Traveline at Welcome to Traveline North West will give bus times. Gigg Lane's postcode is BL9 9HR.
As Wynonie says, there are some good pubs on the way to the ground but two good ones in Bury itself are the Trackside on the East Lancs Railway platform at Bolton Street Station, which is on the bus route from Bolton and is accessible from steps at the end of Bank Street (BL9 0DZ), and the Automatic in Market Street (BL9 0BW). Both serve food and real ales from local breweries. Be aware, if you're taking a car, that these days most of the street parking around Gigg Lane is for residents only. |
Re: Bury by train
Or get the supporters coach.......... £5 return :-)
|
Re: Bury by train
Is there a coach running to this one Smudgie? No thread by Ash so was gonna go on the 484 - was just bothered we might not get the last bus back, although walk back from the ground to bus station is downhill I suppose :)

Re: Bury by train
