Rob Elliot played 10 games with no clean sheets (I haven't used non-league stats) Premislavver Cashmecheque played 8 games David Martin played 10 games Alan Martin played 8 games Lee Nicholls played 9 games all bar the scrabble winning named keeper went on to play at a higher level but none of them kept any clean sheets at all whilst here. Bavs' record isn't too far shabby of the others but he has played considerably more games which brings his stat down - and it is above the team average. Suggesting that he is better than people give him credit for. But he is a club man and has served us well over the years, often having to sit on the bench for months on end and bide his time. Bettinelli looks to be the real deal but it has pished me off over the years when he has been overlooked in favour of an on loan keeper who has proved to be no better. |

goalkeeper Ian Dunbavin put in a superb performance with some fine saves even when the home side did get a chance they found Dunbavin in inspired form And now the second league game; home against Port Vale Louis Dodds whose shot from no more than eight yards was superbly turned round the post by Stanley man of the match Ian Dunbavin But what about that 5 - 0 defeat at Oxford? Surely he was culpable there? Had it not been for several smart saves from Dunvbavin the score could have been considerably worse The U’s continued to force several fine saves from the impressive Dunbavin Quote:

It's cruel beyond measure, LOL. Just because he's injured it ain't the end of the world. We can just use Bettinelli while we can.

Re: Oldham snap up Rachubka
Like I said Dunbavin's a good shot stopper....that's it's. Bettinelli can make good saves and he commands his area. FACT...Dunbavin never commands his area well enough. Doesn't matter if your 5 ft 5 or 6 ft 5. PLUS Bettinelli is younger and he has a long career ahead of him. Bavs is 33, may not last much longer.... and he's not gonna be number 1 forever now is he.

Re: Oldham snap up Rachubka
[QUOTE=maccawozzagod;1075463]well as you know I love a good stat, particularly if it gets to prove a point. Unfortunately I couldn't find a stat to use in Bavs defence (pardon the pun).
Cameron Belford had an average of 40% clean sheets (2 in 5) Alex Cisak had an average of 33% (9 in 27 games) Kenny Arthur had an average of 28% clean sheets (20 in 71 games) Paul Rachubka had an average of 26% (6 in 23) Sean Murdoch had an average of 27% (4 in 15 games) Ian Dunbavin has an average of 22% (33 in 147 games) Dean Bouzanis had an average of 21% (4 in 19 games) The team itself has an average of 20.6% (78 from 378 game since joining the FL) While you're at it , Rob, what about Jamie, (albeit non league), and, one of my favourites, Darren Randolph? Remember the LET headline when he left us? "Randolph the red once reigned here"? Gerard |
Re: Oldham snap up Rachubka
Dunbavin is a Stanley legend and will be a cult hero for years to come. The penalty save at Morecambe in the 90th minute...single handedly keeping Notts Forest at bay....the Boro game..... yes he may be prone to the odd rick but he has more than proved his worth imo. In terms of £ per performance he must be one of the best. :)
Hero. :) Don't worry Bavs....after all every team needs a scapegoat. It was Murphy for the last couplle of seasons  |
Re: Oldham snap up Rachubka
Bavs good shot stopper that's it.
