Good signing by Mr Beattie.
And good to get away from all that doom and gloom elsewhere on this site.
But what 'international' clearance is needed? Hope paper work doesn't prevent a home debut tomorrow.

You really don't want to know!!

Reams of forms which need to be loaded to Sepp Blatter inspired system and then you "upload"

Then you wait.

No numbers can be called, no assitance sought; you just wait for somebody in Zurich to say "yes".

I go cold everytime we find out we're signing somebody from "abroad"!!

Good news!
Lee Naylor could be a great signing by JB. Hope he is match fit and gets cleared to play against Rochdale.
JB is clearly working hard to get some class players in.
Lets all get right behind the boys and JB tomorrow...

A different league I know but best left back in England, Leighton Baines.

Why don't you use the fast track method? It only involves brown envelopes stuffed with banknotes - allegedly :D

Was that not the position he started in sam n didn't do that well? I was under impression he played further forward when we saw the best of him?

Leighton Baines - 20 goals 2010-2013 (14 league, 5 cup and 1 international). Not bad for left back.

Not bad,Not prolific, Not his primary job as a left back.

Was very impressed with his use of the dead ball today. You could tell he'd played at a high level.

Re: Lee Naylor.

Too bad. Always pretty vocal in defence and one of the clubs 'leaders'. Has served the club well and can't see anyone holding a grudge against him. Best of luck.

However.... he did lack pace, often looked like he was carrying niggles, and wasn't particularly amazing at set pieces (but not terrible). Big chance for Wilson to step up.

I hope so too, but I also hope Mr Wilson learns to head the ball when he goes for it!
But I don't know what your problem is with Mr Liddle. Both lads were U21 internationals, Liddle is slightly younger, and, from when I've watched him, gets stuck in.
Getting them competing with each other would be a better approach than ruling one or the other out.

teabag 16-01-2014 19:56

Re: Lee Naylor.

no problem with any player at stanley, just think liddle gets dragged into the middle of the park, where as willo tends to stay at left back, i suppose it depends on who plays left midfield

Chubbyman 16-01-2014 20:56

Re: Lee Naylor.

Both got ability, both capable of attacking down the flanks, and Wilson has a sweet left foot when he lets the pin go.Lee Naylor has served us well but I don't think he's ever been 100% fit and his pace seemed lacking.Liddle and Wilson can now fight for the position and Beatties got great options rotating them both.Good luck to them both.

maccawozzagod 16-01-2014 21:19

Re: Lee Naylor.

i thought the upturn in form last season coincided not only with Moly finding his shooting boots, but with Wilson nailing down the left back spot and providing the safety net for the 'winger' to go on

Pendle Red 17-01-2014 05:06

Re: Lee Naylor.

I think Lee did okay up until his injury then has struggled a wee bit with form

More than enough options at Left back with Wison & Liddle whilst also Roddan can also fill that position should need be.

Re: Lee Naylor.

Big surprise Naylor leaving, as others have said, a good professional.

Agree with Rob, hopefully Wilson slots straight in there, was brilliant for those last 15 games last season.

Didn't really surprise me Smudge, could see he was better n Div2, will make a good standby in yon division if needed. imho.

Looked like he couldn't be bothered half the time for us, maybe he was just biding his time - good luck to him but no great loss for Stanley imo
