Well and truly pleased with this signing, even if only a loan until the end of the season. Maybe at season's end we can sign him permanently, because Rotherham don't want him! Welcome back Kayode, may your stay be long and fruitful.

Nice to start the year with good news, and well done to the club for posting it and keeping everyone informed. 'Next week' begins today.

Re: Transfer Window

OK so now we have the big man back, who else do we require. I would suggest a goalkeeper to help out Dawber. Anyone else - I will leave this open to other posters on this forum.

Re: Transfer Window

We already have another Goalkeeper Ian Dunbavin who is also Goalkeeping Coach is he not?

Good to see the Big Man back always gives 100%

Re: Transfer Window

strange that Bavs has gone out on 'emergency' loan when we have no cover for young Andrew. Gotta be something about to be announced, maybe return of the Fulham lad ? Linganzi doesn't seem to feature at Gillingham - maybe loan return to us if Beatts fancies him back ?

I wont lose sleep over Bav's going that's for sure. Not sure why people are moaning about him going, he hasnt been 100% fit for a LONG time.

No doubt JB has a replacement lined up anyway.

Mr Dunbavin joins Chesterfield...I'm not moaning.
His pros and cons have recently been discussed on another thread but I'm more interested in who Stanley might get on loan instead. If it's to be Mr Bettenelli let's hope it's before Saturday.

Re: Transfer Window

When I saw Bav's face on the fishy site I thought it would be a case of him joining Coley and Jimmy at Southport. Talk around the terraces is of a fallout between Bavs and Beatts which I am partly sad about and partly philosophical about. We know enough about Beatts now to appreciate that he knows what he's doing. Football clubs are full of fallouts between players and managers and coaches and staff. Bavs has been a great servant to the club and I would love to see him return in a month with first team matches under his belt at the expense of Chesterfield. I either expect to see Marcus Bettinelli return from Fulham or another similar calibre keeper brought in on loan; it is only the 2nd day of the transfer window so I say let's keep the faith and urge the boys on for a strong second half of the season. Young Andrew Dawber needs to be protected so as to avoid further injury and dented confidence.

Re: Transfer Window

I really couldent weigh him up. He looked great for 45 minutes against Newport on the opening day in the number 10 role.

But ever since he has looked way too lightweight.

cashman 02-01-2014 17:45

Re: Transfer Window

Missed Newport, but seen most other games n never looked a Div2 player to me.very poor marker of a player, lightweight is a very apt summary to me.

Pendle Red 02-01-2014 18:40

Re: Transfer Window

My own personal view is you only use loans if they are better than what you have already got or a major injury crisis at this Level can't afford to carry players.

smudgie 02-01-2014 18:53

Re: Transfer Window

It's always worth loaning in Premier League and Championship youngsters as we won't have to pay any wages.

It's the League 1 + 2 one's I worry about.

Totally agree, to be fair to the lad it looked like he always gave his best but I think he's just nowhere near ready for this level.

I wonder if his surprising return to the team & imminent departure were linked in any way...to encourage him to stay?.....to fulfil a quota for Newcastle?..

Cant think why he was thrust in from nowhere when other players were preferred to him in recent weeks.

Anyone know when Miller due to return?

It does seem to be a regular occurrence that players particularly this season disappear off the Radar for whatever reason?

It would be interesting to know why?

Were players perhaps signed too early before JB was appointed?

Is FFP part of the bigger picture?

Re: Transfer Window

I think it's probable to assume that wages play a big part in Bavs being allowed to move on. BT obviously doesn't rate him as no 1 and sees Dawbs (probably a lot cheaper than Bavs) as a good bet for his no 2 no 1.

Whilst I don't pretend to know what Bavs is/was earning at the moment I know that 6 years ago he was supposedly on a far bigger wage than we should have been paying for a n0 2 no 1.

I think that BT would also like to clear out the 'Scouse Mafia' that once ran the club from top to bottom and leave as little trace of the Coleman Years as possible.

Maybe JB is looking to recruit a more permanent no.1 in the meantime. It's about time we nailed this hole in the squad with a good big 'un.
