Stanley Fined
Never saw this one coming.................
Accrington Stanley fined £20,000 by FDC over appointment of James Beattie | Football News | Sky Sports |
Re: Stanley Fined
Oh brilliant. Just go on the course James. We've obviously had a couple of warnings this was in the pipeline. Are we just throwing the letters in the bin and sticking our head in the stand?
|
Re: Stanley Fined
Just when i thought we were getting more professional. Silly me.

Bring back Coley?

The BBC website says that the club had been reminded twice about the need for a licence.
|
Re: Stanley Fined
I wonder if this may have been a calculated risk by the club?

Another case of us being an amateur club trying to survive in a professional environment.
Cheque book out again please James!! |

Do you think he should also take the "A" licence course pending our oncoming promotions
|
Re: Stanley Fined
seems ridiculous that they will only fine us £5k if he achieves the qualifications by May. What's the point in having the rule (and punishment) if they are only going to fine us a paltry £5k? I'm surprised many more clubs don't do the same

Exactly!
|
Re: Stanley Fined
So the best result we can hope for is a £5000 fine? And who's going to pay that? The club have reduced admission prices and still the gates are down on last season, so where's the money going to come from? And what does it do from the club's already tarnished professional image, coming, as it does, on the heels of the betting fiasco? Whatever the ins and outs, I'm sure this could have been handled better.

Re: Stanley Fined
Simply not Good Enough
For every step forward we make as a Club we then have to shoot ourselves in the Foot. The thing that hurts most is we all suffer to a degree but none more so than the name Accrington Stanley:o |
Re: Stanley Fined
Who's responsible for the day to day running of the club?

He has to get his level 2 first !! :)

Absolutely gobsmacked with this news - once again we're in the news for all the wrong reasons! The details of our lad's brilliant win on Saturday was overshadowed on tonight's Granada reports by this - why is it always one step forward & five steps back with us?

Re: Stanley Fined
Rochdale fans have a more sympathetic view than most of you precious lot on here!

Re: Stanley Fined
One step forward and two steps back as per always with Stanley!
It's no surprise really as the club is run with about 10 different people who have no idea how to run a football club! Say what you want about Rob Heys but he kept stanley ticking! Least we knew who was in charge! |

Re: Stanley Fined
To be fair to JB,he was probably going to be fast tracked this summer, but the Fa have collared him.
I would be surprised if he takes the sessions as he's got two qualified coaches, but it's Fa being pedantic. In theory you have 12 practical sessions to complete before your final assessment(assuming you pass the theory),as long as the assessors are available, you could use Accis youth team and complete in under a month. I am sure dean and Joycy do there final assessment in Feb so they could be the new Coley and Bell if things go pear shaped :) |
Re: Stanley Fined
I agree wi the Rochdale fans, no argument there at all J.B. is doing a great job in my eyes no doubt at all, But this is about the F.A. n the rules n fer some numpty to try n bypass through incompetence or ignorance is unacceptable in my eyes, In my mind the buck stops somewhere!!! pedantic definitely by the F.A. but idiotic trying to bypass em.

Re: Stanley Fined
No excuses really, but getting Your practical sessions in is a pain in the arse.
no fun playing on a Saturday and attending a all day session in Newcastle at 9am on Sunday. The FA is bit of a joke IMHO and should be brought into the real world. Heard a story about Andy Cole doing a session on finishing/movement and the assessor told him he wasn't doing it right, and in the end threw his bid in and jacked! The assessor had only played at bottom rung but was a right jobs worth . |
Re: Stanley Fined
The F.A. is a big joke, most fans aware of that fact, But a joke that makes the rules n like it or not yeh gotta abide by em.

Maybe we kept telling the FA he was taking it next week :D
|
Re: Stanley Fined
Assuming he has the FA's bits of paper, could just appoint Mr. Stephenson as manager and appoint Mr. Beattie as Director of Football, like other clubs have been known to do.
Once again, the FA proves that it's acronym is accurate. |
Re: Stanley Fined
All a bit class system, like saying if you have a degree you can do the job better than those who have been to college but actually lived in the real world.
To be fair the FA are probably right about it, UEFA Pro Licence holders include such great managers as Brian Laws, Steve Cotterill and Alan Knill, proof is in the pudding that these licences prove their worth ;) |
Re: Stanley Fined
Whatever happened to the planned trip to Moorhouse's in Burnley that the club was supposed to be organising ? :D

Re: Stanley Fined
speaking of Ince, didn't the FA wave the rules for him at Blackburn and give him an extra 2 years to qualify?
|
Re: Stanley Fined
Hasn't he qualified?I thought he's allegedly just collected a large brown envelope in London that should have belonged to Blackpool,so bye bye Ince at least if it's true he won't need to work for awhile.

Re: Stanley Fined
Given our recent history - betting scandals with players and former MD, financial issues, bailouts, ownership wrangles etc, has it ever occurred to someone at the club that the FA may just be keeping an extra eye on us. Join the dots up!
Someone at the club then thought it was a good idea to ignore 2 FA warning letters on Beattie's coaching qualifications and now when charged, we can't even say he's already booked on the course. They run country wide so he could do some of it nearer his home. Absolutely incredible mismanagement....again! Why can't someone at the club say we'll try and have 12 months where we don't make any negative headlines! |

Re: Stanley Fined
It just seems like Groundhog Day again! Players doing well on the pitch so we have to have something else off the pitch to bring us crashing back down to Earth. Its another Google Page Ranking disaster and leaves another stain on our already heavily tarnished reputation.
Betting scandals, money shortfalls, betting scandals, money shortfalls, wonder what's next?! I really hope we can recruit someone external to the club who can put some proper procedures and structure into the club and whip the staff into action. Just seems like we have plenty of junior staff and not any senior staff to keep watch and take appropriate action. Maybe that's just me getting things wrong! |

Re: Stanley Fined
Someone might know this but, given the recent record of casino ownership in the upper echelons of English football and clubs being ripped off for the redevelopment prospects of their grounds, has any chairman ever been fined for not being 'fit and proper'? Is Sweet FA the answer?

Re: Stanley Fined

As per The Football League definition, the manager ‘means the official of a club responsible for selecting the Club’s first team’. If he had been appointed Director, then he would not have been appointed as manager and therefore would not be responsible for the club’s first team or require managerial qualifications. As you can read within the official statement issued, the club appointed a manager who did not have the required qualifications as per regulation 40, nor was on a pathways to achieve these qualifications. Please see that statement here The Football League | News | Football League | FL News | FDC fines Stanley. |

He responded Mike, but did he answer yer question, Are such penalties appropriate, somehow i doubt it. Reckon everyone can accept we were in the wrong, but that aint the issue.
