Torquay Match Thread

Away terrace is closed again and we are getting shoved in the new stand.

Can't remember what price we got charged last season.

£17 in the away terrace or £21 in the stand ?

I can understand the financial sense behind closing the terrace, but it takes away one of the benefits of lower league football - STANDING UP.

AWAY TERRACE CLOSED

Just phoned the robbing sods - £21

Not only are they saving money from closing the terrace, they are going to rake in another £120 in gate money :D

Going to take my own pie in protest :p

Got this response too via email...............

Hope they missed the "e" off by accident

Hi Simon,

Unfortunately the Away Terrace is closed on Saturday so you would need to pay the £21 seating pric.

I hope the Torquay players have been fed this week. The FA are investigating reports that Chesterfield's Ollie Banks was bitten by their player Labadie, allegedly.

If we play Torquay next season maybe we could close the Coppice End and stick 'em in the cow shed seats and charge them over the odds too?!

Well played to all travelling down the massive treck to Torquay! My bank balance from all these away games recently has dinted my bank balance so won't be making the trip :(.

Hopefully if we start well , attack from the start and play the ball on the floor instead of hoofing it up to the big man up front then we should see them off! Their full backs won't be able to handle the movement and speed of Piero and Lee! Must win game for me as it'll knock Torquay for 6 if we can get all 3 points at their gaff!

Come on you red men!!

I know. What i meant was putting up the prices for use of the "luxurious stand" for the match. Failing that how about charging them to use the bogs?!:D

big game today and imperative that we put some distance between ourselves and the drop zone.

Only 15 points behind the play off places, we've won titles from further back.

Probably better to let them in cheap than face 2 charges from trading standards :D

I want to know what sort of vehicle Chubbyman drives. Said yesterday he was going to the match and would be leaving Accy around 9.30ish. Today at 12.15, says he's there and going for a paddle. Obviously didn't stop en route to use the facilities.

Huge win. May I just say a HUGE well done to Jb and the team as i for one doubted his ability after 11 games and even at christmas but he hasnt just turned it around he has done absolutely magnificent to get us away from the bottom two. So well done to everyone involved and long may it continue.

Re: Torquay Match Thread

Not a game to remember, but a win's a win and it was a very dogged, determined performance. Nothing to separate us in the first half, but after the break we both seemed to be more adventurous and neither wanted to settle for a point.

Really well taken goal by Naismith and an inspired substitution. (most of us were screaming for Odejayi to go off) - He was poor today, could hardly stay on his feet and constantly looked for free-kicks instead of going for the ball. Murphy ran his socks off, Bettenelli was solid (so were the rest of the defence).

Ref seemed determined to give them everything and I was amazed when he booked one of theirs for diving rather than give a penalty.

Best part of the day for me was just after the goal - the whole team running towards Beattie and the bench to celebrate. Shows real team spirit and teams with that sort of spirit don't often go down. This set of players are living and breathing for Beattie.

Great day out, great result and before I forget - Happy Anniversary to my Wife (This was her Anniversary day out)

Safe Trip Back to all who travelled.

Good post and in total agreement except for your views on the first half.Torquay never once bothered Bettinelli in the first half whereas I thought we should have gone in at halftime 2-0.......we had 5 good chances Odejayi should have buried his and Joyce burst through one on one but just pushed his through ball to far.A sorry lot of home fans and can't see much hope for Torquay and one of the stewards was more obnoxious than me but we shook hands at full time.A fantastic day all round .......Roll on Portsmouth.....
