True words choirboy!

Flags and displays can't be done , got to go through a court of law these days and many safety checks just to get them on the terrace. Let's make up for it in noise though!

Fans , not criminals!

Come on you reds!!

Seem to recall The Wand's loan deal was originally to 22 Feb. Was it then extended by one month? If so, given Crewe's struggles, I wonder if Saturday's game against The Pilgrims will be the last chance to see his skills. Please, someone tell me his loan was extended by more than one month, or will be extended by another month.:confused::eek:

If i remember right Moly's loan was extended till the end of April which was the maximum we could keep him for under the emergency loan rules

As good as he was for us, and he did make a massive contribution last season, I'm not sure currently he could get into our midfield either:

Murphy having a great year
Joyce improving throughout the season
and any 2 of naismith, mingoia, moly and hatfield would be ahead of him IMO

Would always take a draw after being behind for a long period.

Ref sounds like he had a nightmare????

Played well in the second half and we could even have nicked all three points if we hadn't squandered our chances and the ref hadn't been blind. Happy with one though.

Re: Plymouth Match Thread

Argyle were a decent side. The goal we conceded could and should have been avoided - both Buxton and Bettinelli were weak. That said I think it was a mistake of Beattie to ask the rookie - even in good form - to fill in at left back in a crucial league game. I would sooner have seen Liddle start or if he wasn't fit dropped Molyneux back. Buxton went on to have a real hit & miss performance but gave every bit of effort.

We really should have been 2-0 up at half time after a period of consistent pressure resulted in a countless series of corners. We were also robbed of two clear penalties.

Kal Naismith was rightly taken off for being a passenger. Battles on boggy pitches are not the arenas a luxury player of his ilk will succeed in. Lots of questions over whether he has the commitment to be a League player.

Bringing Odejayi on was a mistake in my opinion. We created very little from our direct game and cut out our most effective players (Molyneux and Gray). Odejayi's poor finishing cost us two further goals in the second half while we sunk Will Hatfield - who is best when driving into the penalty area - deeper into midfield. It would have been better to bring on Webber who is much smarter on the ball. The weather's effect on the pitch made for extremely difficult conditions but we succumbed to them far too early by opting to go long.

Luckily Aldred's great finish saved us a point in what could easily have been three thrown away.

Redraine 22-03-2014 16:32

Re: Plymouth Match Thread

Full marks to the management for bringing Kayode on for the second half as we were getting nowhere in the first trying to short pass the ball through the quagmire. He made all the difference with numerous deft headed flick ons which could easily have brought a couple more goals with a bit of luck. If only he could have leant back and cushioned his header from Lee's great cross all the points would have been ours. I thought Rhino had a nightmare and looked uncomfortable from the start on the left. Not a good idea to move him from the right back position where he has been brilliant. Good support from Argyle but they must have been nervous throughout the second half. What a terrible wasted free kick in the last minute from Windass with everybody up in the box!

Agree totally our pitch was not conducive to playing football, we needed a big un up front as in the air was the only way to try n win the match imho, ok he could n should have had a couple i agree, that apart the lad did ok n worried the argyle defence.

football19 22-03-2014 17:25

Re: Plymouth Match Thread

Agree with most of shakers comments,but I thought bringing on big Kay rattled their central defenders and won a lot of flick ons.
The problem is scoring goals !, it just looks uncomfortable for him.
Saying that his presence alone creates openings for others,so it's a tricky one.
Plymouth looked a good fit organised team and we more than matched them and really should have won.
Thought our CBs played well against dangerous attackers,but a couple of lads let themselves down today with below par displays
Saying that I enjoyed the game with two committed teams having a real go

Tom D 22-03-2014 17:29

Re: Plymouth Match Thread

Should have won. Murphy only had to pass the ball into the net - did anyone else think he looked a bit jaded today? Kayode missed a sitter, then when clean through seemed scared to have a go. Also a blatant penalty in the second half.

Moly really is a cut above everyone else, we just need to fool crewe into releasing him from his contract.

cashman 22-03-2014 17:36

Re: Plymouth Match Thread

[Not to me, Accrington hammered us for a lot of the game and we soaked up so much pressure that could've easily lead to a Accy equaliser or winner much sooner. Very happy with a point.] Just copied this off Plymouths Forum, A fair assesment, wish em well against Exeter on Tues.:)

Re: Plymouth Match Thread

The ref had a shocker!!:mad::knife::cool::eek:
Penalty incident No 1;
Gray was surging into the Argyle box when one defender clearly pushed him in the back. (We all saw it from 90 yards away in the Clayton end!!) The extra momentum from the push took Gray past the second defender but caused him to lose his balance and fall forwards! (The second defender didn't touch Gray). How both the ref and his assistant did not see the push is beyond belief!:dummy2:
Then to book Gray for suppsed "simulation" was proof that they were both temorarily blinded!:s_whistl::s_whistl:

Penalty incident No 2;
Buxton was racing forward on one of his trademark runs and did his great way of changing direction whist at full speed. this bamboozled the Argyle defender who took away Buxton,s leg from under him! An even more obvious penalty than incident No 1....!!!!!!!:dummy::s_whistl:

As for the rest of the match;
Credit to the Ref for playing as Argyle and their fans had travelled a long way! Morecambe and Ellison would have been crying like babies to get it called off!:confused::mad:
In the end it wasn't very conducive to playing good passing football and it was the right decision to sub Naismith as the heavy ground did not suit his style of running with the ball. We were much more of a threat with the more direct approach up to Koyode. However, we still did well down the wings and moly played some very clever football in the second half. the heavy pitch didn't suit Will Hatfield today and his efforts in recent matches told on him early in the second half....the lad was knackered!!
We had a great spell for twenty mimutes when Murphy nearly scored from close in but he was just off balance when the ball came to him. Koyode should have scored with a header but he tried to get more power on it, as Redraine said, he should have just softened the touch and it woud have gone under the cross bar instead of over it.
Their goal was down to some classy pace as Buxton was found out for speed and Marcus was really angry with himself as the ball squeezed under his legs, having got into the right position to stop it!
Overall a draw seemed to be a fair result and it is another point closer to our target.
But the referee????!!!!!!:dummy:
ON STANLEY ON:mosher:

the game today was more slushball than football, given the conditions I really can't condem any players perfromance, a draw was a fair result and I recon given our goal average another 6 points will see us safe

I've just seen Tom Aldred's "towering header" on the Football League Show. It was worth waiting over an hour to see those few seconds!:)

Sounds like another battling performance from Stanley. Read on Dan's webby thing that Mr. Boco got a round of applause when he was subbed. But how did he perform? Is he another ex-Stanley player who may just be wishing he'd stayed where he was appreciated?

He played in a free role just behind the front two,did ok,but never noticed him in the second half to be honest and just he did get a good round of applause

Yes, it says the media are a bunch of clichéd morons.

P.S. Thanks, F19 and Cashers, for the summary of Mr.Boco. Suspect your right, I wasn't asking because I'm one of those who seem to think things would improve if only so-and-so was brought back. Onwards, not backwards.
