Sounds good to me .:) Some flyers around town might help?

Would the manager and some squad members being on hand to speak to fans and guests not be worthwhile to try and attract any fence sitters?

Re: 2014/15 Season Ticket Launch and Fans Forum

That would certainly help i reckon, but the main thing is publisize the night.;)

Excellent Idea just a few Questions

What is the price of the various Season Ticket Packages?

How long is the Window for buying Discounted Season Tickets and will there be a chance for people to spread their payments as not everyone will be able to afford in one go?

Will there be "Family Season Tickets Available"?

Will the Ten Game Option be available?

Important that no stone is left unturned to help increase our Fanbase :)

Neil.

The exacts haven't been decided, I believe its at the top of the agenda for the Board meeting.

I'm sure we can do a "flexi ticket", will ask the board to discuss it.

Quick question; what is the thoughts/demands/needs for a family ticket? Apart from the dad/child or grandad/ child combination don't remember selling to too many families last year. Or is that the issue we were too expensive for the whole family to come?

Might be useful for feedback for people to put those points in order.

Personally I'd go with

1 .Overall price
2. Discount Period
3. Flexible Payments
4. Family Prices
5. Flexi Tickets

Have to say I'm not a great believer in offering the flexi tickets before mid season, at this stage you want people to commit to season tickets.

I get what you mean Dave but what about people who live further away and/or work shifts which mean they know they won't get to every game, the flexi tickets mean they are committing to at least 10 games which are paid for up front

Yep, there is 2 sides, but I won't put my reasons on here in case it gets used :D

Re: 2014/15 Season Ticket Launch and Fans Forum

I think this is an excellent idea, well done ASFC.

I hope that it is the case that the season ticket options and prices will be unveiled at the event itself rather than before, encouraging people to get to the club to hear it first.

What would also be great is if Dan or one of his media minions could perform a running commentary on social media for updates from the event to put out to those online who can't get there physically. Then a full press release/statement on the website post-event.

On the ticket issue I haven't been able to get a season ticket for a couple of years due to living out of the area and not making every game due to home miles being a 50 mile round trip. Unlike moneybags cashman I can't afford to buy the ST anyway and lend the spares to a mate ;)

The flexi-ticket is a great deal which I hope is brought out again but would agree with Dave - issue it at the end of pre-season.

Mark Not quite sure but if there is nothing orientated to say a of Family of Four or more and it's not promoted we don't know sometimes you have to create your own market and drive it.

The diversity and make up of the population has also changed in Hynburn are there ways of connecting there?

I Notice the Clarets have shifted over 11000 season tickets up from 8400 last season the reason I mention it is there is a danger we may possibly lose some of our Clarets walk on's?

I listened to the recent Clarets Forum which was held and Broadcast simultaneously via Radio Lancashire with various Board Members and Sean Dyce which made really good listening.

Does Tuesday Night involve James Beattie and picking up on Shakers point will there be any live media coverage via Social Media where fans who can't make it or live away from the Club can raise their questions and have them answered?

Mr T 06-04-2014 08:23

Re: 2014/15 Season Ticket Launch and Fans Forum

Not sure will ask, however suspect James will be on UEFA qualification work.

Dan's certainly not around as on BBC duties in a "foreign" area!!

No doubt somebody can make notes for posting later.

A good point was made by a curent season ticket holder who lives out of the area and can't attend on Tuesday night. The Club will find a solution so all are included in any announced offers.:)

I know where the the original question came from no matter who posed it at your meeting. The originator of this question said he was going to reseach this, huh so much for his researching. Tell him to ask his uncle or just invent another story to go with all the other guff he spouts.

Just to put your mind at rest and to stop the silly guessing the answer is no, a lot of men who served in WW1 played football or cricket for local schools or pub teams, but no Accrington Pals played for Stanley

All I have is the stuff we used at the exhibition and photos from wobbly and Gregor circa 50s which is the success hayday of Accrington Stanley historically. Though the exhibition boards are secured to the wall at the clubhouse.

Yes Cashy, some one posted it on face book, and one of the responders said they would post it on here, so I answered it to stop all the silly and questionable comments that come with a question like that.
Its a question I've been asked many times over the years.
Why is it so important as to who played football or cricket with any team before WW1. Beats me.

I doubt they would be much information anyway, as it predates Accrington Stanley (1921) pre that is Stanley villa or even Accrington, so cancels out ww1 connections, with that in mind it's feasible that ww2 would further more connections, I'm sure I gave read up somewhere :)

Re: 2014/15 Season Ticket Launch and Fans Forum

It was an unusual type of fans forum, in that we all sat quietly while the club hierarchy told us all the great stuff they do. And we must be jolly grateful to them for doing it!!!
One fan suggested that the tannoy was unclear, another complained that the exterior lighting didn't work. They were put straight, right away!
The fans liaison officer (Rob?) led the forum well but it was impossible to hear most of the rest. The crowd safety officer spoke to us like we were naughty boys in the head's office, not paying customers. Apparently when we come to the match it is like us visiting his house, so we shouldn't turn up drunk and should stand where we are told to stand. He did say we could contact him if there are any problems. But didn't give out his mobile phone number.....
Anyone who wants improved fan facilities should get in queue behind floodlights, changing rooms, control room etc etc

But the season tickets prices were well received (renewed mine) & it was good to hear of the work of the community trust.
This club continues to entertain, delight, frustrate and infuriate. In the next life I will be a Bayern/Real Madrid/Juventus fan:-)

Mr T 09-04-2014 07:23

Re: 2014/15 Season Ticket Launch and Fans Forum

Mr SC, sorry you feel that way; however sadly there are no changes in FL regulations about improved spectator facilities; although these improvements are on "our wish list". FL regulations are mandatory as part of our continued membership.

We have spent a lot of money on the PA system but will ask (as it's part of the annnual safety checks) if we can get the guy in to check out the area that was mentioned.

I asked the electrician about the specific light you mentioned and there have been some cables damaged over the years that need tracing. Again will add it to the maintenence list.

I'll check with Cliff with regards to the "release" of his mobile number, but as you said said it was offered.

We think we do an OK job, if we don't please pass on your comments and we promise to listen and explain and improve

No one disputes there are regulations to enforce.
Its the emphasis and interpretation of those rules and the manner they are implemented.

Ask yourself why an increasing number of league 2 clubs stewards are considered better than stanleys?

We agree that there have been things wrong in the past; we agree that there is always need to have high standards and fans/supporters/customters have the right to be treated in the correct manner?

Online Season Ticket Form (April) - Accrington Stanley FC

shakermaker 09-04-2014 14:46

Re: 2014/15 Season Ticket Launch and Fans Forum

I think the season ticket prices and early bird scheme is the fairest and most well thought out yet.

Taking out the ambiguity of the early bird scheme and including a two-stage promotion is a clever move. In previous years the 'cut-off' date would invariably be shifted on a couple of weeks, so people relaxed and waited to buy.

Well done all at the club.

Now the big task of promotion starts - ram it down the throats of everyone in Accrington and the surrounding areas. Use staff/volunteers to hold stalls in supermarkets and town cetres. Go further than before. Tap the cash cow that is the Ribble Valley. Employ school kids on half-term break to leaflet drop for free tickets & a shop item in return. Get older kids on breaks from colleges and universities to draw up and send press releases to national papers/news/football programmes and invite them to cover a case study on the lowest-priced season tickets in League Football.

If it's bodies and skills that are needed to go that extra mile - ask. The hardcore 1000 are a dedicated bunch (the start of this season tested it!) and a lot of them will have something they can offer in some way.

VALAIRIAN 09-04-2014 17:00

Re: 2014/15 Season Ticket Launch and Fans Forum

Shaker, thanks for the ideas - much appreciated, but thanks even more for the positve reply. This set of prices took plenty of working and the one thing that was at the centre of it, was the FANs, all of our FANs and finding ways in which we could enable them to purchase a ticket.

We really did hope that we did everything to achieve this.

Thanks once again mate :)

:) :) :)

shadsworthcloud 09-04-2014 21:10

Re: 2014/15 Season Ticket Launch and Fans Forum

I hope that I wasn't being too negative with my write up above. As I say, it's great to hear all the good stuff the club does e.g the community trust. And the ticket offer is very good, especially the option to spread payment over the summer.
But if someone says the tannoy can't be heard from his seat why not ask him where he sits and promise to check it out? And if people comment that the exterior lighting doesn't work, don't just shrug shoulders and blame a previous electrician. And I would like to see the safety officer say that he will respond to complaints and comments (obviously within the bounds of ground regs etc)
We all know the club have no money, and we don't want to be the next Hereford or Aldershot but customer service need not cost money.

There is a whole lot of good stuff going on at the club that we can take pride in. But we have few enough customers without alienating any more than absolutely necessary.

There was a mention that that there would be some advertising on 2BR for the Season Tickets which is a good format to take.

I really would like to see the Club have a genuine marketing budget even if that means taking a hit on the playing side.

There was talk about two pre-season friendlies against our Bigger East Lancs neighbours.

One thing that was missing for me was Keil up the front as he is the one person from the Club we probably interact with most on a Matchday.

I've just got back from the Library, in the Tuesdays editions of the Accy Observer January 1914, it shows the results of the previous Saturdays Football, and Accrington Stanley is mentioned in one of the leagues, they lost 1-0

Re: 2014/15 Season Ticket Launch and Fans Forum

Accrington Stanley were playing in the Central League in 1914-15 and most if not all of the players would have been local.

Breedon Book quotes "the 1914-15 season was the last in peacetime football and Stanley finished in 6th position. The outbreak of World War One saw the men of Accrington answer their country's call. The formation of the East Lancashire Regiment which became known as the Accrington Pals and the fate they met is well documented ...."

I think it is likely that many of our players met their fates over the coming months but as team documentation is thin on the ground I would imagine it will forever remain speculation.

maybe one of the mods could separate these posts from the main thread as it could run and run as more info comes to light?

I think it is likely that many of our players met their fates over the coming months but as team documentation is thin on the ground I would imagine it will forever remain speculation.

maybe one of the mods could separate these posts from the main thread as it could run and run as more info comes to light?

I've not seen any WW1 newspaper articles which mentions a Stanley player serving in any Regmt during that period, If there is going to be any thing I would need a name. There could have been Stanley men, but without documentation its a no.

It's not linked to the ticketing system, just another option for methods to pay, not always possible to contact the club during 'normal' hours for some people so just trying to make it easier :)

It does say in the description somebody from the club will contact you to sort out seat reservation.

Is there a time limit for keeping your old seat, must admit I haven't seen anything about it before
