Spot Fixing Charges - Fingers Crossed
BBC News - Seven footballers arrested in spot-fixing investigation
Please please, let there be none of ours involved ...... |
Re: Spot Fixing Charges - Fingers Crossed
I'm not suggesting that any of the wonderfully honest members of the Constabulary would sink to such a level but, given that The Sun (that bastion of honest journalism - remember Hillsborough?) appears to have offered money as part of a sting, I wonder how much more money is being offered by other undercover reporters to get hold of the names of the accused players?

Re: Spot Fixing Charges - Fingers Crossed
PNE have confirmed they have been in contact with the National Crime Agency in relation to this investigation!

Re: Spot Fixing Charges - Fingers Crossed
The Daily Mail is even naming the seven players. And, as Mr T said, there's no-one from Stanley on their list.

Re: Spot Fixing Charges - Fingers Crossed
"The National Crime Agency has re-arrested the 6 original suspects
based upon new evidence along with a further 7 footballers. All aged 18 to 30." Daily Express Sad :( |
Re: Spot Fixing Charges - Fingers Crossed
Sad, but also inevitable.
Football always been linked to gambling but, since the money-bags Premier clubs got into bed with the global gambling 'industry, it has been taken to a new level. Of course those who suffer will be individual players and fans of the clubs, not the gambling corporations who will give odds on anything these days, from corners, fouls, to yellow cards, just to extract that extra bit of moolah from suckers. Re: Spot Fixing Charges - Fingers Crossed
im suprised any footballer can get more than £50 on with a high street bookie.
the bookies only want mugs to play those daft FOBT machines, they are not bookmakers anymore. |

Re: Spot Fixing Charges - Fingers Crossed
Glad there is not a Stanley name amongst the 7, but feel sorry for PNE and Barnsley respectively. You would have thought players would have learnt after all the high profile cases in recent years! I do hope though, for their own sakes, they are not guilty as they have stated to their respective clubs, otherwise, that is game over in most cases.
