Stanley Safe
with Wycombe yet to play Bristol it makes Stanley just about safe
they are both 4 points behind us and we have a 6 goal average advantage thanks cashy it is Bristol not Northampton prone to errors i'm afraid |
Re: Stanley Safe
They gotta play Bristol as well, were safe as houses.:D

Ianray reckons we are safe.
If it's good enough for ian, its good enough for me |
Re: Stanley Safe
Clearly we are unlikely to finish below the dotted line, we would be very unlucky, it would be an amazing set of results.
But are we SAFE? Not yet |

Re: Stanley Safe
Of course we're safe. I think the bottom 3 will be Torquay with either Bristol Rovers or Northants, my pref. would be Northants. Pint anyone?
|
Re: Stanley Safe
Can't be bothered typing it again. See the Southend thread for the set of results which would send us down and I don't think they'll happen. Here's to another season in the league and after the last three quarters of this one, a very successful season I believe.
|
Re: Stanley Safe
Nobody asked you to type anything, we can all count and know the odds. You're entitled to your opinion, mine is, we,re safe.
|
Re: Stanley Safe
Yes, but some of us get scrambled brains without someone to help us to work it out!
|
Re: Stanley Safe
Guys..........
We will only be fully "SAFE" when TWO teams cannot possibly catch us! Until then I am continuing to feel quite nervous!!!!:(:( I was relieved that most of the reults in the bottom third of the league went 'for us' on monday...:pnowink: Still all to play for in my opinion. COME ON YOU REDS :mosher::mosher::mosher: |
Re: Stanley Safe
There could be another twist to this, Wimbledon have been charged with fielding an ineligible player in their win against Cheltenham & could receive a points deduction.
|
Re: Stanley Safe
What is the normal reduction?
3 points and fine? 10 points? |
Re: Stanley Safe
It would have to be a deduction of ten points to put the Wombles in danger. Seem to recall Stanley faced this problem during the reign of Professor Coleman, but can't recall the outcome, assuming I'm remembering correctly?
|
Re: Stanley Safe
12 Grand fine (half of that suspended) and that was for TWO players.
BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | Accrington Stanley | Accrington avoid points deduction |
Re: Stanley Safe
Normal punishment is a fine and any points gained from the matches in which the ineligible player played deducted. However, a Premier League Club (Sunderland I think) have avoided the points deduction this season on the grounds that it was a misunderstanding over international clearance so depends on why he was ineligible and the stance the Football League take.
|
Re: Stanley Safe
Could be the same "international" excuse as I believe the lad came from a Scottish team.
|
Re: Stanley Safe
I read that the lad had played in two games after the Cheltenham one so IF the FA are consistent it would be a nine point deduction - probably not enough to put them in direct danger but maybe enough to make them a tad nervous

Re: Stanley Safe
If AccyMad's right, they only got 4 points in those 3 games, so surely wouldn't be deducted more than that?
Then again, this is football administration we're talking about so anything could happen! |

Re: Stanley Safe
Always happy to help.
Back on topic, I hope Wycombe, Torquay and Northampton all win, I can't see Exeter getting anything against Scunthorpe. If Exeter go down I will be buying a season ticket instead of a flexi |
Re: Stanley Safe
Regardless of mathematics I would rather see us see the Season out with a Bang rather than a whimper and look to get at least get four points from the remaining two games and head into the Summer on a high.

Re: Stanley Safe
Think we have a good opportunity to beat Oxford this weekend, they seem to be on a bad run at the minute. Would be nice to beat them for once and retain our league status at the same time.
|

Re: Stanley Safe

Re: Stanley Safe
With one game to go, we can still finish anywhere between 13th and 19th (Cheltenham play Daggers so we can't catch both of them, and Hartlepool play Exeter so they can't both catch us). What a tight season it's been.
And a season of 3 halves  2 points from first 10 games (0.2 pts per game :(), 18 points from the next 8 (2.2. ppg :D), 34 from the next 27 (1.2 ppg :)). Overall 54 from 45, also 1.2 ppg (averages approximate). The first bit the worst run we've seen, the second bit about as good as it's ever got, though not lasting as long as in the play-off season, and the last bit more or less what we usually do. If the start had been average, we'd probably just have missed the play-offs, and if the purple patch had been average we would almost certainly have gone down. Made life interesting doing it the way we did ...... |
