2013 Prediction League; Game 45 v Oxford Utd (away)
Oxford Utd V Accrington Stanley Well, well, well  .well, well, well, well  . On 15th February 2014, Oxford stood third in League Two, with 54 points from their (then) 31 league games played; since then theyve shed a manager (I still dont know why Chris Wilder jumped ship to Northampton on 26th January; money? It cant have been the view . :D) and theyve played a further 13 games (5 at home and 8 away) .and how many points have they garnered :p (lovely word, that!) in those 13 games? Answer; EIGHT!:eek: And while youre calling up your football knowledge from the depths, in how many of their last six games have the Us actually scored? Answer; ONE :(:( ..Their last six have resulted in losses by 3-0 at Southend, 1-0 at the Daggers, and 1-0 at Scunthorpe, plus home defeats by Fleetwood (0-2) and York (0-1); their only goals, and only points, came in a 2-0 win at Plymouth (who have lost five of their last six themselves :):)) ..Welcome back to League Two, Mr Waddock (who currently has a 20% win record)! :o Their form since 15th February has given them records of W1 (Hartlepool 1-0) D1 L3 (home) and W1 (Plymouth, as above) D1 L6 (away) overall, W2 D2 L9 GF8 GA21 Pts8 :confused:; over the season which looked so bright for the first Ύ - they stand 8th, 5 points behind York and 6 behind Southend, with a worse GD than both, and therefore, barring a miracle, out of contention for the Playoffs :p; not the first time their season has spluttered, stuttered and stopped They havent been active players in the transfer merry-go-round, either; three loan signings is the sum total ex Barnsley, Bury, Hamilton, York, Torquay, Shrewsbury and current PNE MF Nicky Wroe (28), signed by Wilder on 10th January , who then buggered off to the Cobblers a fortnight later (Cheers Boss!); Reading Youth GK Jonathan Henley (19); and Pompeys Republic of Ireland striker David Connolly (36), who also includes Watford, West Ham, Leicester, Southampton and Sunderland among his 10 clubs . Are they skint, one wonders? They were trashed by Charlton (4-0) at the Valley in the Capital One in August; they contrived a 2-1 home defeat against Pompey in the First Round of the John Player Paintball Ciggies Cup :o and after mighty victories at Gateshead (1-0 after a 2-2 at the Manor Ground) and Wrexham (2-1) four days later, they managed to draw Charlton again in Round 3, doing the hard bit by drawing 2-2 away, before doing the even harder bit and losing the home replay 3-0 .. :) Let the record show that theyve lost 10 times at home this season :D, and that their League record stands at P44 W16 D14 L14 F51 A45, and that in total theyve managed 58 goals in 51 games .. Leading scorers are strikers James Constable (12) and Deane Smalley (9); MFs Ryan Williams (6) and Danny Rose (5); and Dave I think I might retire Kitson (4) the same as David Connolly who, you might recall, scored against us for Pompey on the TV ..Bastard! Head to head? You may well ask (but youll probably wish you hadnt); weve played them 9 times; twice in the Cup last season (draw 3-3, lost replay 0-2), and seven times in the League four draws (0-0 three times, including the last of our Infamous Twelve, at which time we had 4 points from the first quarter of our games), and 1-1) and three defeats (2-0 at Fortress Crown in 2011/2, 5-0 at the Kassam last season, and 3-0 at home in our last game of last season); P9 W0 D5 L4 F4 A16; in League meetings, P7 W0 D4 L3 F1  A11 Pts 4 - which on any reckoning is rubbish :):) ..One goal in seven League games against them? Sack the Manager! :D:D Deadline for entries is, as always, scheduled kick-off time, which is 3.00pm on Saturday 26th April. On paper, 8th (62 pts) plays 18th (51 pts) at home .Not a lot of point us even turning up, really But who ever won a football game on paper? In October the headline read; the fightback starts here! ..and didnt it just! :D:D Good luck to everyone ..remember; Passion overcomes Logic . Keep the Faith! .. and thanks for playing! . :) And no, mathematically we're NOT safe! :alright::alright: |
