Brilliant performance. Totally dominated and could have won by more. Had just mentioned to my son that I thought we were starting to sit a bit deep and allow them to play too much when they scored but sorted it out and saw the match out without any trouble. Thought Odejayi and Gray were a real handful for the Oxford defence all afternoon whilst their long ball game didn't cause us any problems. Well done to James and the lads.

Great result ( much needed given the others) and great performance from the lads. Everyone played their part but particular mention goes to Mr.Windass for his influence in the first half. Always looked like he had time and was looking to use the ball. Bodes well for next season. Agree with our Kernow correspondent that both Gray and Odejayi were a handful for the Oxford defence and it was gratifying that they both got a goal.
But especially thanks to Messrs Beattie and Stephenson for their belief in the team and to our chairman for his belief in them.
:)

Stanley went fer it from the off today, against a good, quick, Oxford team, Stanley were the better, Thought Windass,@ Dino were immense today, though no-one had a bad un, I never seen a Stanley side as "FIT"as these lads are, so credit to the management/Staff etc also. A good away game to finish me season, will go away Monday in a great frame of mind, Roll on next season,:) P.S. They say yeh shouldn't wish yer life away, but a few months wont matter i hope.:D

Good. I really rate Windass. He could be a star in the future. Let's hope he gets signed up by JB.

What a day! Bloody fantastic result from our boys, that big grin from Kayode after the final whistle will stay in my head for a long time - worth every mile travelled & every penny spent but what a strange ground the Kassam stadium is, loved the impromptu song . . . 'we have a ground & it's got four sides' - classic!

Wrapt for everyone at ASFC, you supporters and especially James B, his backroom staff and all the players from that marvelous youth team to the entire first team squad.
YOU ARE ALL FANTASTIC.

I couldn't listen to Radio Lancashire's "and there's been a goal at"(whatever their ground's called),being a bit nervy about the other scores so i went for a long walk then came home to see the league table which read 54 points for Stanley!:D
Their manager was on the Football League Show giving it the usual "this kind of performance is not acceptable"blah blah:rolleyes:! stuff they normally come out with when they're beaten by us!;)

All season I have trawled our opponents forums to see their reaction after matches. This is the first game where I haven't seen a single mention of Stanley's performance. This lot are tso far up their own posteriors it isn't true. What a miserable lot!

Excellant day out from the kick off we were in their faces, all 11 played well quick mention for Windass played well set pieces a bit poor but I like him heard last night he has been offered a deal, also heard Peter Murphy keeps turning down his offers had some from others good luck Pete if you go Stanley lad never a shirker. Also big thanks to Ash for the away travel this year hope same next year with a few more bodies, roll on Saturday and next season.

Well my two pence worth......

Was like a home game for me, nice only having to travel 45 minutes to a game :)
Can't say I was looking forward to the trip that much, think that was the first time ive ever seen us score there, never mind win.

As for the game........ I thought we did pretty well at keeping them quiet, especially in the first 45. Make no mistake Oxford looked VERY poor, was only their goalscorer that looked a threat all game.. not that I care mind :)

Was a similar situation to alot of the season for me..... Looked solid at the back but going forward again we didnt look the best..... Though I agree with others I thought young Windass had his best game in a red shirt. He showed some great touches, especially in the first 45 and after a season of development really is starting to look the part. Once he improves his dead balls and fitness he could have a big part to play next season, thats for sure.

Aldred and the back 4 looked pretty solid...... Buxton was absolute beast again. Wonder whats the chance we can have him for next season??? Keeping hold of Aldred will probably be JB's biggest challenge of the summer..... But a nice cash sum seeing as he is already contracted for next season will be quite handy no doubt.

When Stanley's performances have been mentioned, it has always been in a very grudging manner. I am thinking especially about Bristol Rovers and Mansfield. There is a general assumption that we are there for the taking in every game and any failure to do so is the fault of our opponents rather than our own capabilities.

And just wait until the pundits come out with next season's predictions for promotion and relegation. Yep, we'll be doomed yet again.

Messrs Coleman, Richardson and Beattie have all instilled a pride and a resilience and a sense of belonging - qualities that are not understood by many of those outside the club.

Agree with that smudge, there's a fine line between giving young lads a run in the team and still getting results,as once you get on a losing streak it's difficult to break.
Think JB got the balance right, eventually !!, and it paid dividends
We have the makings of a decent team, but realistically it's down to budgets/wages at the end of the day

Mmmmmm? I wonder??:rolleyes: I think it's a bit more than that. See Manchester United for evidence.

I think its down to em, in the sense of signings. which i heard was the reason Ormerod went elsewhere.

IMHO you have to operate within your means (presume acci now do ), and our budget is way below any other league club, therefore staying in the league is a remarkable achievement,
Would never begrudge a player moving on as long as he gave everything to the cause !!

From Oxford's forum:

this will be feast of exciting, flowing, attacking football with goals a'plenty from a fired up forward line. The strikers eager to fill their bootswill run rampant over a hesitant and pedestrian defence. A glorious exhibition of the wonderful game.
Not sure how Oxford will do.

;)

Obviously not everybody posts on forums.
A number of Oxford fans congratulated us on being safe in the League
and said they looked forward to our twice yearly meetings particularly
as we were so friendly and welcoming compared to some others. :)

100% in agreement. But your previous post seemed to suggest that there is a connection between size of budget and relative success. Sometimes it is - Barnsley and Yeovil being examples. But sometimes it isn't - Manchester United failing to achieve what their budget suggests they should. And locally Burnley and of course our own Stanley have proved that there needs to be an extra ingredient.

Again, 100% in agreement. But some of those who have moved on have failed to achieve as highly as their Stanley performances suggested. Moly and Rommy are examples - and Jimmy Ryan seemed to be a shadow of the player that we knew at Stanley.

In fairness Jimmy Ryan is highly regarded by the Chesterfield Fans, The Scunny fans i spoke to the other season rated him also, But didn't rate Bobby Grant.

This .......

BBC Sport - Gary Waddock says Oxford United have losing culture

...... really made me laugh.

They lose six games out of seven after he takes over, having been rock-solid safe in a playoff place all season, and it's the players who have a losing culture. Seems to me the only difference between a winning squad and a losing squad was that they changed the manager .... :D:D
