Next Season.?

I predict, providing our management team remain, the least we can expect,is a Top Half Finish, possibly even better,They have gained experience oer this season n have time now to sort our squad as they would want.Hope todays display will provide a push on season ticket sales, the lads deserve it.:)

Re: Next Season.?

We got 4 pints from the first 12 games, after that we have had 50 points from 33 games, if you average that over a season its around 70 points. That could quite easily be a play off spot. If we can keep most of players together for next season there is no reason why we cant finish in the top half.

JB and the players deserve a lot of credit for not losing their heads after the bad start to the season, just shows that anything is possible if you believe.

Well after this season I think im giving up on predictions.

I really did think we had a playoff chance in the summer but that kind of evaporated after 2 weeks in August. Looking back I probably was getting a little carried away.

I would take survival now next year..... But hopefully we can confirm it a little earlier next season :)

I'm not sure that you were entirely carried away, Smudgie. It was a large squad by Stanley standards and was expected to do well. It would be interesting to hear JB's thoughts now, reflecting back, on precisely why it went so wrong at the start.

As for next season, we need more creative nous in midfield, and given his performance yesterday, Windass might offer a way forward. His regular inclusion would provide more flair but would lessen the bite in centre-mid, so its a question of whether JB thinks the side could accommodate a player like Windass whilst coping defensively. That's why, for me, someone like Molyneux is so valuable, as he and someone like Buxton could cause havoc down a flank but also keep it tight.

Bear in mind also that we pushed the boat out a little for JB last summer, so his attempts to build on this season may have to be done on a smaller budget.

All of which is for the future. As for next Sat, its a few bevvies in the Peel Park and then a party in the Clayton End. I think we all deserve it.

I would hazard a guess that inexperience n players having belief n getting used etc were the main reasons fer our horrendous start.? also seemed to me like fitness levels were increasing, which dont happen overnight.
