exciting end to the conference

Chester go down on goal difference after a 88th minute winner by Hereford.

Let's hope Hereford's can use today's great escape to survive as a club.

Halifax would be the best team to go up being the nearest out the four to Accy. Luton are talking about making the Premiership! BBC Sport - Luton Town: Premier League the aim for the Conference club

Not just the 88th minute winner for Hereford but also an 88th minute equaliser for Salisbury at Chester.
I'm pleased for Hereford but you have to spare a thought for Chester. For every winner there's a loser.
But as a club that was bust 4years ago and has had 3 successive promotions they were due " a kick in the guts". What don't kill you makes you stronger!

Massive surprise Chester went down for me.

They where spending BIG in the conference North last season, so not quite sure what has happened??? Heard some big rumblings about huge debts etc...... will be a sad situation if that was the case, especially considering how hard they have worked to get there.

Yeah i know they've had their moments in cup finals Cashy including the 1988 League Cup one. But appearing in the odd major cup final doesn't make you a top flight team. Granted they were in the old Division One for many years, the Futcher twins,John Aston are players who spring to mind, but their ground then was a bit of an embarrassment remember that tiny side(not much better than our cow shed)!;)
The top flight is a different ball game now to when it tolerated clubs like Luton,Wimbledon,Notts County and Carlisle Utd. If Luton want to return there they'll have to spend many millions on a new ground and get some dodgy foreign investor in who'll probably want to make em play in orange with black spots and call themselves Luton Leopards or summat similarly stupid!

there are some big clubs in the conference and Chester with 3500 gates are relegated, boy does that show what a great performance by the reds by staying in the football league year on year, may it long continue

out of Chester and Hereford I'd much rather Hereford had gone down. I've not got any time for their fans and how on earth that club has found itself in such dire straits is beyond belief. Chester had to restart due to idiocy from that fella who once fantasised about us becoming Lancashire United and also the Vaughan criminals

Reading the Chester forum is quite staggering.

The abuse they are sending towards their players is unbelievable.

I went to see Nuneaton V Chester earlier in the season and Craig had a shocker that day.

Re: exciting end to the conference

Worth considering that chester have lived within their means, staying part time, paid all their bills whereas Hereford and Aldershot have not. They have stopped paying wages, defaulted on their taxes and faced winding up orders and administration.
Significant that in the dying moments it was the part timers of chester who faded while Hereford were getting the win to stay up

So well done to Hereford and all that, but it does leave a bit of a bitter taste.
