Prediction League 2013-14 Final Table

A Good Note To End On as Teach is Crowned King of the Guessers

With a great sigh of relief :) we reverted to optimism for the last game of the season – 35 for the win, 3 for the draw and just 2 (Valairian remaining consistent to the end  and PMIG by default) voting against. But there were changes at the top. Two of the drawmongers were Football19 and Sherry , and Bdc and AngeB kept the faith :D, enabling them to take the minor podium places behind Teach, who reached his century by taking 3 points :thankya:.

LancsDave’s winning score 2 seasons ago was also 100, CmonStanley’s 110 in 2010/11 remains the mark to beat (while I’ve been doing the counting anyway), and last season Ossy Kid picked up the honours with a mere 83. But Teach is by a margin our clearest winner, having finished 14 points clear of Bdc, with AngeB 2 points further back having led for much of the season.

Best average points per entry were DarwenRed and Duckworth, with 4 points every time they had a go (once each, actually ;)). Lowest average amongst those entering regularly was MikeA, an ever-present averaging 1.130 over his 46 games.

There were 19 other ever-presents, at least 5 of whom owed this to their season ticket default scores. Not sure about whether this was a good idea or not – I might make a new rule next season that we need to hear from someone at least once every 5 or 6 games to confirm they are still interested in the competition. Views welcome ……

On the subject of season tickets I just have to quote these posts ……

The final tables are attached. Spookily, using the same criteria for the split that I have been using all season, you get in top half of the table if you got as many points as Stanley did.

Lastly, thanks for playing, thanks for the thanks already expressed to D3N and myself in the Wombles match thread, and most of all my thanks to D3N for his encyclopaedic research before each game enabling us all to make reasoned forecasts each week – or, in most cases, ignore it in favour of half-assed guesses dreamed up whilst wearing red-tinted spectacles!

On Stanley On!!

:do-one:

Once again big thankyous to our two stalwarts.

Congratulations Teach and on making it a foregone conclusion for quite a while!

For me "guess" is the operative word - I wait for numbers to pop into my head!

Somehow it works - 10th last season, 5th this - 1st next? As said before on another thread, "Not a cat in hell's."

Hope you all enjoy a restless break, (I'm sure I should be doing something feeling?) :D

Thanks again to all involved. Not quite sure how I managed to win it but I do read all the detailed info when the thread goes up.
