Sholing's down in this neck of the woods, maybe this results from one of JB's old Southampton (mustn't say scummer) contacts.

With his goalscoring record as to be worth a look at even if he,s from Mars.

Great opportunity for the lad on Saturday. Goal against the Premier League's new boys would be one helluva calling card.

Good luck if you get some game time tomoz and for the rest of your trail really would like to see a natural finisher in our squad.

After a rethink, I would now let brett ormerod go ( should have come back a couple of years ago)
and sign lee wort on a two year deal.

and maybe sign an experienced played on loan

alot more mileage and future in lee wort than brett now

My thoughts entirely.;) Lee can get better,Brett can,t.

Would sign Brett on a pay-as-you-play/coaching deal. Never underestimate the influence of experienced strikers around the camp. Even if Wort signs there would only be him and Gray as pure striking options. I have high hopes for James Gray but he needs a lot of nurturing.

I would respectfully suggest, our manager is a far more experienced striker than Brett.;)

I would respectfully disagree ;) Beattie being the three-piece-suit wearing co-ordinator of operations pitchside is not there next to the young players in action. Also, experience wise, league appearances are much the same :p

Not sure we should give anyone a 2 year deal based on a 20 minute appearance, hopefully the lad will get more game time at Alty & against Chorley next Friday which should give a better idea of what he can do.
I wouldn't write Brett off either, I think his experience could be really valuable to the younger lads & well worth offering him a pay as you play deal

Agreed, and almost as important for Beatts will be his attitude in training and how well he fits in with the group. The fact that he is prepared to spend time up here from so far away with li'l ol Accy Stan will stand him in good stead, for starters, plus 2 or 3 goals at Alty wouldn't do him any harm, if he should be so lucky!

Maybe it will depend on who signs a player on.?;)

Alvin the chipmunk 29-07-2014 00:42

Re: Lee Wort.

Kurtis COULD have been a handy player. Started like a house on fire and if his header v Northampton hadn't been wrongly disallowed he would have had a debut goal and his confidence would have soared. Same with his 30 yarder smacking the post v Plymouth. Fine margins in football.

After that seemed to be a combination of lack of confidence and application. Cooky said he acted as though he was on holiday!! :)

Although if anything...Mr Guthries tale tells the perils of reading too much into pre-season. He bagged at least 4 including 1 v Rovers and looked a belter.

football19 29-07-2014 06:47

Re: Lee Wort.

Still think Guthrie will turn into a decent player,as a youngster the step up was too great, but the last I heard he dropped down a few leagues and is now working his way back up,he has the basic tools to be a success ,wish him all the best

But why not tonight when you have such a short period of time to assess a player surely you use every opportunity in competitive games. Also JB was bigging him up massively on the fishy....

All of Stanley's trialists and having them playing against smart opposition and maybe our coaching staff were looking at Birminghams youngsters with the possibility of having some on loan for the season.
