Alty Away

Train to Victoria and then tram to Alty for me tonight. :) Looking forward to a last hurrah from some of our trialists and hopefully Wort will bang a couple in. Always good to smash Alty regardless of what is at stake.

If you can't make it Radio Robins has full online coverage.

Looking forward to it,hope to see trailists given a good run,but then again there's not many games left to bed into a game plan for Southend

Played 1st half didn't do much, a good work out some of the youth came on last 25 mins, good to see looked ok to me.:) Think the trailists will play Brum tomorrow, to see how they fare against stiffer opposition?

Not had much chance to follow what was going on tonight but one tweet from Dan stood out;

Dan Jewell @danjewellmedia · 2h
15 year old Roman Hickey on for Stanley here. 15!!! Playing centre of midfield with Windass

Superb freekick from Kal.

Re: Alty Away

I agree Cashy, young Roman looked comfortable against more experienced players.
The other 16 year olds did well, unbelievable really, the winger showed no fear.
The lad who caught my eye was the left back Jordan Mustoe ex Wigan.
Considering he had not even trained with the squad,he looked the part.
Buxton,once again caught the eye.

I'm in no way criticising your erudite observations on the game, F19, but you have a knack of spotting the lads from Wigan! ;)

Re: Alty Away

We were impressed wi Mustoe looked like he'd always played wi em.

Lots of good lads been through the "LATICS SCHOOL OF SCIENCE" :).
Mustoe was in the same team as Buxton, and representing Wigan are obviously quality players lol

On another subject Cashy, how did you think the "hunt/joycy "partnership did ?,i was impressed

smudgie 30-07-2014 09:43

Re: Alty Away

Windass MUST start for me. He was class the last 5 games of last season.

HUnt/ Joyce as a central mid partnership is a step backwards in every way. Ive seen more movement in a traffic cone.

Thought it worked ok,Hunt fer me is a thinking player, which in midfield is needed.:)

Re: Alty Away

I know what your saying smudge, along with Naismith,is probably our most talented player,
I am a sucker for up and coming talent so I tend to agree with you,but he has to deliver and in the second half he should have shone, but it was others that caught the eye, indeed 7 of his first 10 passes went astray.
He's definitely got it so what about three in the middle with hunty holding ?,say 4-1-4-1 , I am second guessing,so the opposition has no chance !!!

smudgie 30-07-2014 17:54

Re: Alty Away

I think for me, the player who will pose a problem is Buxton. He has superb talent and can play anywhere..... but where does he fit in? Im sure its a problem JB wont mind having, but for me at the moment its looking tough to pick him in the XI?

............................Turner.......?
Hunt......Aldred.......Winnard.......Buxton/ Liddle?
....................Joyce.........Windass......... .......
............Hatfield......Naismith.......... Mingoia
............................ Gray...........................

Subs
Bowerman
Liddle/ Buxton
Carver
Mccarten
Atkinson
Dawber

Is looking my best guess at the moment...... without anymore pending arrivals.

football19 30-07-2014 19:09

Re: Alty Away

I know JB loves 4-4-2 but I would go

Turner
Buxton dean Tom lids
Hunty Joycy
Naismith windass mingola
Gray
Going 4-2-3-1
Which can easily rotate to 4-3-3.
Hatfield for me is a number 10,playing off the front man,so 4-4-2 is for him, does a great job dropping into midfield giving you the extra man.
Probably miles away from our starting eleven, but it's fun speculating :)

smudgie 30-07-2014 19:13

Re: Alty Away

Sorry I would swap Hatfield and Naismith's position.

Other than that, I reckon we have a half decent squad there!

Will hatfield be fit fer our opener is whats bothering me a bit.?
