James Beattie Leaves Club - Accrington Stanley FCAccrington Stanley FC

Accrington Stanley Football Club and James Beattie have decided to terminate their contract by mutual consent with immediate effect.

James stated: “It is with a hugely heavy heart that I decided to end this journey. I can never fully repay the faith and backing I got from the players, my staff and of course the fans who always gave me 100%.

“I thank them from the bottom of my heart for granting me the opportunity and privilege to be part of your unique club.”

Everyone at Accrington Stanley would like to thank James Beattie for all his efforts during his tenure at the club and wish him and his family all the best for the future.

Assistant manager Paul Stephenson will take interim charge of the team for tomorrow’s home game with AFC Wimbledon.

Crikey. Can't say I'm disappointed with the news of Beattie's departure as I don't rate him as a coach/manager at all. However, this is extremely poor timing and I hope the young players can cope. I also hope JC can be brought back but expect that bridge to be burned unfortunately.

very sad news as liked his attitude - only wished for his sake that his departure saw Stanley better placed to avoid any feeling that he failed - which he hadn't.
Dav007, please spare us the John Coleman stuff - seem to recall him saying on leaving that he had taken Stanley as far as he was capable so no point whatsoever in his return.

Maybe he could do a Rochdale and leave us at the bottom of the pile in total disarray.

Re: James Beattie

Very sad to see beattie go and in very strange circumstances. If it was the travelling then he would probably have gone at the end of last season. Must have his eye on something else. Exeter possibly. Maybe he's going to be number 3 at Chesterfield.

Don't know who I would like to come in but although I have huge respect for Paul Stephenson, it would only be the cheap option and the wrong option. Flitcroft at chorley may be worth a shot.

At least he didn't leave us bottom of the league.

Not really bothered either way, Not over the moon yet not not dissapointed.

Coleys return would give such a huge feel good factor back on the terraces that could prove invaluable as the season goes on. Accy used to be a fortress

Although on here a shiny new suit and faux professionalism seems to count for more than 3 promotions, numerous cup runs and a play-off berth. Nobody mentions that Accy players have been seen in William Hill in Accy on match days under Beattie's tenure. Recently theres been a lethargy on and off the pitch.

Is a personal grudge with our most successful ever manager really worth deserting the club over?

Although my money is on Stephenson or Flitcroft. Or perhaps Nicky Law from Alfreton....worked wonders on a shoestring to get a club half our size into the Conference.

Good call. Whoever we get in I just don't want to hear "the lads are disappointed/ devastated in there" after every defeat, or constant mentioning of the budget. Of course it's one of the toughest jobs in football - but just get on with it!

Re: James Beattie

I wasn't a great admirer at the outset but I've warmed to Bettie over the months; like any manager at the Mighty Stanley they come, most do good things and then they go. I am sorry it didn't work out for James and I hope whatever he does it brings him good things. This is the guy that put his hand in his own pocket to bail the club out and I hope he got his money back before whatever it is happened.

For the future I just hope whoever does come in can hack it in a world where the money doesn't pour from golden goblets.

If JC came back I wouldn't be displeased; but at the same time going back seldom works out for the best, but let's honour those that have got us where we are instead of digging up the normal crock of ****e.

Names and wish list get bounded about but any one serious about coming to manage Stanley is surely running against the wind. Let's just hope theirs a bloke out there that can take us forward and keep moving us forward.

Odds have plummeted across the board on the arrival of JC as next permanent manager. I know that when they (John and Jimmy) joined Sligo it was on rolling contracts. With he season finishing in the next couple of months, if their contract situation was the same, compensation wouldn't be an issue.

Still quite like the idea of the Alfreton manager joining us. I hear quite a bit about the conference as I live near Lincoln. By all accounts Alfreton have been punching above their weight for some time and the manager has done wonders with a tiny budget.

Nobody in their right mind would go to Blackpool normally and Jim won't go now we have this Chinese investment and a bigger budget.

I wondered if Oyston wanted Beattie as Riga's assistant to appease the fans. He would hate paying Riga his 1 year rolling contract to get rid.

I know that I am not the only one to have felt , and stated that JBs tenure at ASFC would be of a temporary rather than more protracted one, so I was not at all surprised to hear of his departure. I guess that the Chairman and Board must have shared this opinion and have, hopefully, acted accordingly !.
As to his successor ?. Well one can only smile at the rapidity exhibited in this thread by those who always appear to know the immediate solution to any problem which confronts our Club. But why should I spoil their fun ?...
At the risk of annoying Accymad though, I am surprised that no one has suggested the possibility that managing Accrington Stanley could well have brought about disturbing repercussions in the...shall we say?..more romantic side of JBs existence, and perhaps Mrs B has presented him with the sort of scenario which one associates with Corrie and other Soap Operas. Where a wife accuses her better half of loving someone or something more than the love which she has to offer. Culminating in the phrase 'It's either me or them !'.
The scene ends with the Husband...knowing which side his bread is buttered on?..submitting to wifely charms and doing the right thing !....but I digress !.
Anyway, today the sun is going to shine on The Crown, ooops !...the SF Stadium,I'll be there,
Mab will pass some gossip along to me, Chubbyman ( Dav007 all forgotten !) will be there,
FA19 will fill me in with all the tactical machinations going on..which I can seldom get my head around anyway !....the ' get it up t'field 'lads will be in good voice.....BC and I will be annoying the visiting Directors sat next to us ..The best Centre Back in League 2 will be keeping Matt Tubbs subdued......and we'll all be giving the team the support they deserve !!...
Both Alfred.E. and I repeat ...'Worry ?.....what worry ??'.

Chubbyman,
Are you going to start spreading rumours about your boyfriend Beattie or do you only throw mud at scousers?

Heard a few things about Beattie but they're speculation at the moment,so before I comment I need to know it's fact. What i've said about your friends is FACT.... and I don't throw mud at scousers,in fact I like them and have many scouse friends except if they're called DAV.....some good news for you and bad news for me is i've been told it's a done deal with Coley and the announcement is imminent, after the next game.

If that's true, I will buy you a celebration pint and will look forward to receiving your season ticket.

But seriously, if you know something to be true, you should say it in public, rumours don't help anyone.

And would the person who keeps texting me the beattie info stop as I have requested, I don't want to know anymore.

I have offered to meet you face to face many a time and tell you what FACTS I knew, but you have never taken up the offer.
You are more than welcome to my season tickets as promised,I hope the stewards on the gate accept a paper bag full of carbon..... OXFORD Tuesday?

Rumours like this dont help, and seeing as you joined the forum today I am guessing this is just another Dav007 alter ego

I' ve took DAVS advice and done my research....I've discovered Rishtonbumble is a raging queen with a Scouse accent and a penchant for ex-footballers with the same accent and a bent nose!!!
