Re: James Beattie
here it is
James Beattie Leaves Club - Accrington Stanley FCAccrington Stanley FC Accrington Stanley Football Club and James Beattie have decided to terminate their contract by mutual consent with immediate effect. James stated: “It is with a hugely heavy heart that I decided to end this journey. I can never fully repay the faith and backing I got from the players, my staff and of course the fans who always gave me 100%. “I thank them from the bottom of my heart for granting me the opportunity and privilege to be part of your unique club.” Everyone at Accrington Stanley would like to thank James Beattie for all his efforts during his tenure at the club and wish him and his family all the best for the future. Assistant manager Paul Stephenson will take interim charge of the team for tomorrow’s home game with AFC Wimbledon. |
Re: James Beattie
Mark Turner for manager please :)

Re: James Beattie
Another one bites the dust...
|
Re: James Beattie
Crikey. Can't say I'm disappointed with the news of Beattie's departure as I don't rate him as a coach/manager at all. However, this is extremely poor timing and I hope the young players can cope. I also hope JC can be brought back but expect that bridge to be burned unfortunately.

Re: James Beattie
 Shocked and disappointed :(

Re: James Beattie
very sad news as liked his attitude - only wished for his sake that his departure saw Stanley better placed to avoid any feeling that he failed - which he hadn't.
Dav007, please spare us the John Coleman stuff - seem to recall him saying on leaving that he had taken Stanley as far as he was capable so no point whatsoever in his return. |
Re: James Beattie
Shocked, wasn't expecting to read that when I got home.
|
Re: James Beattie
I would never wish Coleman on you all hope you get someone better in surely Accrington Stanley's penitential would stand out to someone in the Football World wanting to put got Accrington Stanley promoted to League 1 on their CV, Well Done on upsetting Tranmere at weekend
Good Luck Rest of your Season UP THE DALE |

So did he walk or was he pushed?
|
Re: James Beattie
John had taken us as far as he could at the time. However the key point being missed here is that we've been heading backwards (on the field at least) since the moment he left.

David Dunn player manager? I wonder.........

Has to be Coleman. He took us as far as he could? The play- off's! Id take that wouldn't you?
Seemed that Stephenson was the brains of the operation anyway so don't think too much will change for sat. |

Re: James Beattie
Very sad to see beattie go and in very strange circumstances. If it was the travelling then he would probably have gone at the end of last season. Must have his eye on something else. Exeter possibly. Maybe he's going to be number 3 at Chesterfield.
Don't know who I would like to come in but although I have huge respect for Paul Stephenson, it would only be the cheap option and the wrong option. Flitcroft at chorley may be worth a shot. At least he didn't leave us bottom of the league. |
Re: James Beattie
Absolutely stunned. Never expected to read that. Don't know what's behind it but wish him all the best.
|
Re: James Beattie
Not really bothered either way, Not over the moon yet not not dissapointed.
Coleys return would give such a huge feel good factor back on the terraces that could prove invaluable as the season goes on. Accy used to be a fortress Although on here a shiny new suit and faux professionalism seems to count for more than 3 promotions, numerous cup runs and a play-off berth. Nobody mentions that Accy players have been seen in William Hill in Accy on match days under Beattie's tenure. Recently theres been a lethargy on and off the pitch. Is a personal grudge with our most successful ever manager really worth deserting the club over? Although my money is on Stephenson or Flitcroft. Or perhaps Nicky Law from Alfreton....worked wonders on a shoestring to get a club half our size into the Conference. |

Re: James Beattie
Wow..that woke me up good and proper on a Saturday morning over here!! This is a hard one to swallow. I was under the impression all was 'Ye beaut'. I think Mr Beattie has done a fantastic job at Stanley considering he was very much a beginner.
I wish him all the best for his and his families future, and chuck him a big 'THANK YOU'. This afternoons beers will be raised for him. |

Re: James Beattie
I wasn't a great admirer at the outset but I've warmed to Bettie over the months; like any manager at the Mighty Stanley they come, most do good things and then they go. I am sorry it didn't work out for James and I hope whatever he does it brings him good things. This is the guy that put his hand in his own pocket to bail the club out and I hope he got his money back before whatever it is happened.
For the future I just hope whoever does come in can hack it in a world where the money doesn't pour from golden goblets. If JC came back I wouldn't be displeased; but at the same time going back seldom works out for the best, but let's honour those that have got us where we are instead of digging up the normal crock of ****e. Names and wish list get bounded about but any one serious about coming to manage Stanley is surely running against the wind. Let's just hope theirs a bloke out there that can take us forward and keep moving us forward. |

Re: James Beattie
Still in shock but Luke Joyce's statement on fishy site says it all - whatever's gone on behind the scenes, everyone needs to pull together now more than ever.
3 points tomorrow is vital in more ways than one |
Re: James Beattie
A certain someone has been in touch to say he or she has heard the player out movements this week where not fully endorsed by Beattie.
Did it have any bearing on him leaving? If Beattie shows up as Blackpool manager in the near future, can Stanley get any compo? |
Re: James Beattie
Quote:
all the more reason to shout louder, sing louder and get even more behind the team on the field tomorrow.... Deffo the best remedy in a situation like this is to go out and get those THREE POINTS.......(as usual against all the odds!) ON STANLEY ON:alright: |

We've gone backwards since. Shaker is right..that's the key. Coleman is God.
|
Re: James Beattie
Don't want disruption at the club but something has obviously happened and totally shocked me this evening however WE ARE STANLEY and whatever we will come through it 2-0 tomorrow cos the lads have pride in their shirts and sod the manager WE ARE ACCRINGTON STANLEY!
|
Re: James Beattie
I hope it all works out and you get a manager in that will help you stay up and move up the table.
When I heard he had gone my first thought was he's on his way to Blackpool. Only time will tell. Maybe a left field possibility for you what about Brett Ormerod? |

Re: James Beattie
Despite how difficult the manager's job at our club is with all the financial restrictions, lack of facilities, etc, right now, it's a cake walk in comparison to the Blackpool job. Must be mad if he walks into that lunacy.
|
Re: James Beattie
Plus if he has been tapped up by Blackpool all this mutual consent crap will leave a sour taste.
NO COMPO. also if them 3 left against his wishes, almost certainly because of money, why bring proccy in? must be on a fair bit. |
Re: James Beattie
Good luck James what we need now is a sensible appointment who knows how to work with no money maybe Paul Stephenson should be given a crack if he want,s it. But who ever get,s the job none of them are bigger than our club it,s the club that counts and the loyal band of follower,s lets get 3 points against the wombles.
|
Re: James Beattie
Ho hum, just another day at Stanley. After 54 years of following 'em, nothing shocks me anymore. Let's just trash the Wombles and worry about the rest later!
|
Re: James Beattie
Beattie favourite for Leeds job
|
Re: James Beattie
If he has gone to pursue a job higher up the leagues, then the mutual consent thing would totally follow Stanley philosophy of not standing in the way of staff improving themselves. I don't think we can bear any grudge since this guy put his hand in his pocket for us in our time of need.
|
Re: James Beattie
Odds have plummeted across the board on the arrival of JC as next permanent manager. I know that when they (John and Jimmy) joined Sligo it was on rolling contracts. With he season finishing in the next couple of months, if their contract situation was the same, compensation wouldn't be an issue.
|
Re: James Beattie
Still quite like the idea of the Alfreton manager joining us. I hear quite a bit about the conference as I live near Lincoln. By all accounts Alfreton have been punching above their weight for some time and the manager has done wonders with a tiny budget.

Re: James Beattie
Bentley to Blackpool. Beattie to Leeds. Coleman to Stanley. Derek Quinn to Morecambe.

Re: James Beattie

Nobody in their right mind would go to Blackpool normally and Jim won't go now we have this Chinese investment and a bigger budget. I wondered if Oyston wanted Beattie as Riga's assistant to appease the fans. He would hate paying Riga his 1 year rolling contract to get rid. |
Re: James Beattie
I know that I am not the only one to have felt , and stated that JBs tenure at ASFC would be of a temporary rather than more protracted one, so I was not at all surprised to hear of his departure. I guess that the Chairman and Board must have shared this opinion and have, hopefully, acted accordingly !.
As to his successor ?. Well one can only smile at the rapidity exhibited in this thread by those who always appear to know the immediate solution to any problem which confronts our Club. But why should I spoil their fun ?... At the risk of annoying Accymad though, I am surprised that no one has suggested the possibility that managing Accrington Stanley could well have brought about disturbing repercussions in the...shall we say?..more romantic side of JBs existence, and perhaps Mrs B has presented him with the sort of scenario which one associates with Corrie and other Soap Operas. Where a wife accuses her better half of loving someone or something more than the love which she has to offer. Culminating in the phrase 'It's either me or them !'. The scene ends with the Husband...knowing which side his bread is buttered on?..submitting to wifely charms and doing the right thing !....but I digress !. Anyway, today the sun is going to shine on The Crown, ooops !...the SF Stadium,I'll be there, Mab will pass some gossip along to me, Chubbyman ( Dav007 all forgotten !) will be there, FA19 will fill me in with all the tactical machinations going on..which I can seldom get my head around anyway !....the ' get it up t'field 'lads will be in good voice.....BC and I will be annoying the visiting Directors sat next to us ..The best Centre Back in League 2 will be keeping Matt Tubbs subdued......and we'll all be giving the team the support they deserve !!... Both Alfred.E. and I repeat ...'Worry ?.....what worry ??'. |
