A Morecambe trick or treat match thread.

Jim Bentley says that his side are ' going to put their Accrington hoodoo behind them as they travel to the Crown Ground tonight !'....
This talk of hoodoo makes me think that it's going to be somewhat of a trick or treat night forJim. Firstly without the benefit of a watery pitch to fall back on, will he have any other trick available to him which he can employ to fulfil his long felt want ?...and Secondly, how will he react to the treat of another Stanley win being celebrated by we fans ?
Trick or treat Jim ?.

Looking forward to a great game on a great pitch and a great win !

AE and I WILL be there !.

All we want is 3 POINTS for the STANLEY tonight!!!:theband:
Morecambe had a good start to the season but have faltered a bit since. We stuttered a bit early on but have looked much more convincing recently.
All in all it sets up tonight very nicely. Let's hope for a good match, a good turnout and a good result for Stanley!:alright:
Once again it is time for our supporters to be seen and heard......LOUD and PROUD.:theband:
Let'see the flags flying and hear the songs being sung with loads of GUSTO !!!!!:Banane18::evil::blinky:

Just one I think to equalise goal difference - we've scored more than them, which is the next thing (and A beats M alphabetically which is the one after that!)

Our current 23 points is our best return from the first 16 games since we won promotion :D

Redraine 31-10-2014 21:29

Re: A Morecambe trick or treat match thread.

As usual we should have been 4 or 5 up at half time and although Morecambe came out of the blocks well in the second half and looked good for a spell we should have had a few more in the second half. Their goalie made some cracking saves from Carver, Moly and others so it was a bit nervous towards the end. Although the Shrimps had some good possession and moved the ball about very well I can't remember them bringing any saves from Simpson, who was caught cold for their goal. What a goal from young Shay though!

Outback Ozzy 31-10-2014 21:40

Re: A Morecambe trick or treat match thread.

Thoroughly enjoyed the first 45, but I hate 2-0 half time leads. But for once, it was unjustified. Yes the shrimps came out of the blocks in the 2nd half to make a game of it, and they were constantly crowding young Simpson, who should have stayed on his line for their goal, however he caught, punched and kicked the ball really well after this and seemed to gain confidence. The whole team deserved the win and as Redraine states, we really could and possibly should have been 4 or 5 up at half time. Agree with the sponsors for man of the match and feel for him as he was kicked off the park all night. Not suprised he got subbed later on in the 2nd half.
On leaving the ground usual Shrimper trolls singing something about "same old Stanley always cheating!). When I pointed out that bus for the losers was behind them they then got a bit lairy. Obviously they can dish out the criticism but cannot take it. But there again, when they haven't beaten us (in the league) since being promoted from the Conference, you really cannot expect anything less.

Re: A Morecambe trick or treat match thread.

Great result for the STANLEY!!!!!!........ :alright:
3 Points and level on points with tonights opponents:tongueout
It was certainly a"GAME OF TWO HALVES".
STANLEY were superb in the first half and Morecambe could not have had cause to complain if the score had been 4 - 0 to us at half time!!!!:130:
The second half was sooooo different! I said to my daughter and friends around me that Morecambe:boxing_smwould come out like a different team and that we would have to weather the first 10 to 15 minutes.:boxing_sm
However, it all went a bit pear shaped with yet another injury to one of our keepers!:bingobang

Simpson didn't look too confident as he took his place in the goal and his first job was to pick the ball out of the net!:idunno:

However, he did improve more as the half went on but he did keep over kicking his kicks upfield with a strong wind behind him!
For much of the second half we could not get posession of the ball and when we did we could not keep it!:clyde:
Despite this we did have some good chances and we could have put the game well beyond Morecambe:wave:
Six or seven minutes to be added on seemed ok for the injury to Jorronen and others but the Ref played 9 MINUTES over in total!!!!!!!!!:fire:
I have to compliment the STANLEY ULTRAS tonight who were absolutely MAGNIFICENT.:theband:
We all sang and cheered for the whole 99 minutes!:wave8::drink::signbeer:
This must have been a massive boost to the players and they and Coley showed their appreciation at the end!!:alright:
On about 80 minutes we had a couple of corners and I can remember Ellison, (without his puddle!):signwier: defending their near post but looking up at THE ULTRAS in AWE as the volume swelled and we tried to induce the ball to go into their net!!!!!
Ellison was a good help to us.... what with shots well over the bar and being offside a lot!!.....Numpty!!!:s_mad:
All in all .... a good result and we continue to climb the table!!:signbeer:
ON STANLEY ON:theband::wave8:

So Jim had nothing but big boot tricks to employ tonight......and as I predicted the result is a real treat for all the fans !....and for any neutrals watching the game I dare say.

Skill and Spirit paid off once again and THE run continues...don't know whether the word nemesis is in Jim Bentley's vocabulary, but that must be what he's feeling tonight !.

Trick or Treat Jim ?.

Doubt Mr Bentley could spell trick nor treat so don't confuse him totally with nemesis probably thinks it's on play station!;):)

Re: A Morecambe trick or treat match thread.

felt the score line was a fair reflection of game. Felt we played the more attractive football and created the majority of the clearer chances.

The atmosphere created by the Clayton End was the best i think we've created in a long while of the matches i've been to. So well done to everyone who helped make it so lively.

I think the home fans noise did help spur the team on and may attract some occasional supporters to more games.

It is also nice to be appreciated now again by the players and manager with them coming right over and applauding us at the end of the game. It makes us fans feel more part of the team.

Outback Ozzy 01-11-2014 09:13

Re: A Morecambe trick or treat match thread.

From Shrimpvoices:
The ref was poor but once again our first half performance was diabolical, we came out after the break and took the game to them scored and it started to look as if we might get something out of the game, however Jim then decides to take our best attacking player on the night off Paul Mullin and its game over. Really don't understand why you would do that.

Funny that, I thought the ref had a half decent game apart from not coming down on Morecambe players for constantly fouling John O'Sullivan. The guy was hacked so much he had to be taken off. Though I do agree about taking off Paul Mullin and Padraig Amond, who were Morecambes two best players on the night to be replaced by average players. Did think though at the beginning of the night how awful the Morecambe away kit looked.

On another note, hope Joronen is not too seriously hurt or is this a point where Aaron Chapman returns?

Mr. Ellison was his usual charming self last night - he shouted to me to shut up just because I dared to suggest that the reason he slipped on his backside at one point could have been due to a small puddle which was in his vicinity at the time - there's no helping some folk

Notwithstanding his obvious charms and beauty, Mr.Ellison has brought something to Morecambe as he is their top scorer this season! But maybe Ellison's ineffective performance last night was more down to the quality of Stanley's defenders? :)

Do you not realise Jim Bentley made the subs because he didn't want to win the game...it would have spoilt a fantastic run of league defeats by Accy.

Re: A Morecambe trick or treat match thread.

Well my first two pence worth in a while.....

Thought the first half was the best 45 minutes we have played in a long time. Helped Morecambe really where shocking in the first period.

Thought the team had great balance, Proccy and JOYCE holding has made the team much more solid looking in the middle (funny that aint it football19 !??! ) . First time ive seen O sullivan and Maguire play and they both look good young talents. Moly still not at his best, but its not surprising after sitting on the Crewe bench for 6 months.

Mccarten looks like he had a new lease of life under Coley which is great to see. Burnley fans always used to rate him highly and hopefully he can kick on with a few more goals.

Also a great atmosphere in the Clayton End and nice to see some sort of atmosphere back..... Though did we really need the Jimmy Harvey and Beattie songs?? Left a small sour taste in my mouth in what was another great win.

Nice to have you back Smudgie !!!,too many "love ins" on this forum lately :)
All the credit for our recent form is down to one man, "Coley".
Hes changed the formation back to his preferred 4-2-3-1 and brought in quality players who fit the system.
His ideas are simple,a good commanding keeper, four tough uncompromising defenders, two holding/hardworking screeners and a talented attacking front four, with pace to burn ( loz must be having nightmares about Jonno).
I agree about Moly tho, great ability but needs to up his game a little.
On a side note,i did nominate mcCarten as my dark horse before a ball was kicked, knew he wouldn't let me down !!

Redraine,it's worrying that me and you might start singing from the same hymn sheet !!:)
The one disappointment for me,prior to Coleys appointment, was some posters labelling his teams as playing "hoof ball".
Now Buzzer has produced an excellent playing surface,we are seeing how he likes his teams to play.
I really fancy us to have a decent season, and fancy us to score in ever game ( note- that means clean sheet =3 points, sorry Redraine :) )
