The Christmas Truce
Commemorating the 1914 Christmas Truce with football, songs, reflection and sharing Saturday 20 December, 3pm – Accrington Stanley FC, Livingstone Road, Accrington, Lancashire, BB5 5BX This event will be woven in and around the league match between Accrington Stanley FC and Wycombe Wanderers FC on 20 December. Music, singing and moments of reflection will happen before, during and after ASFC's last home match before Christmas. A special free souvenir programme will be available. Featuring the Truce Choir, East Lancashire Concert Band, displays of artwork created during the project and more. Join us and listen to, or sing along to, While Shepherds Watch, Peace on Earth, When This Blasted War is Over, Silent Night, Only Remembered, Tipperary and football anthems. At half time the presentation of trophies to the winners and runners up of the Truce Centenary Cup Football Competition for U12s will take place on the pitch. Members of those teams will also escort ASFC and WWFC players onto the pitch for the kick off, which is at 3pm. |

More on topic, Mrs C and I saw an excellent production of "The Accrington Pals" down here in Pompey just recently. Some things are more important than football ..... |
