Tom Aldred

Returned from holiday last night . The first thing we get told is that Tom Aldred has left Accrington Stanley . Does anyone know if this is correct ?. I truly hope it is wrong , he was Player of the season last year , would be a shame if he has gone.

Dunno greeny, was told last night he'd gone to Oldham? but had no confirmation, so who knows? If hes gone then understandable so i wish him all the best.:)

Somebody would have to be really desperate to take him now when they could sign him on a precontract and get him for free in the summer. Why spend money that you don't need to because he is good but not exceptionally good.

It doesn't make sense but that's nothing new where we are concerned.

Maybe he has been offered more than 1 precontract,so perhaps if a club really wanted him they have had to jump in,just a thought.

Could well be the case. It's what we need if we want money or they could just offer him it as a higher signing on fee.

The way things play out at the "safestorage stadium" who knows? I bet the sponsors were pleased with that announcement :D

If that's true about Blackpool - & it would make sense with Stevo being there - I really hope it works out for Tom, he deserves to play at a higher level but would worry about him going to a club in such turmoil

If he has gone to Blackpool I wish him well, However I can't see what would attract him to a club in such a mess. He needs to go to a better club.

Re: Tom Aldred

Oh dear, It sounds like Tom has probably left the club, which is a great shame for Accrington Stanley.
It's the same old story, that 'Little' clubs like ours have to endure.....A player improves and becomes one of our best players and then gets ideas of grandeur and the possible temptation of a bigger salary. We cannot blame any player, in the same position as Tom is in now, for submitting to the temptaion of playing with a bigger/better club and on a higher salary.:gooddog:
I would like to thank Tom for his service to the club. Since coming into our squad and cementing a permanent place on the team list Tom has been a great favourite with the supporters. If every player on our books always played with the energy and passion that Tom has shown then we would probably be higher up the division and players might be less likely to leave us!:mosher:
Good luck and thanks Tom.

(((Has he gone)))
this passage taken from the lancs telegraph seems to suggest otherwise
((Coleman will run fitness checks on Tom Aldred, who missed his first game in 93 on Tuesday with a knee injury, and forward Kal Naismith.))
John Coleman wants to crank up volume as Accrington Stanley bid to arrest run of defeats (From Lancashire Telegraph)

From our Fishy site;
Tom has joined the Seasiders on an initial month’s loan to allow him to feature in today’s game with Brighton & Hove Albion, with a view to a permanent transfer.

Sad fact of football but it's better to get something than nothing in Summer. My only suprise is that he started the season at Stanley, thought somebody would have snapped him up last summer.

Good luck to Aldred, he has been fantastic for us. He had a period last season when he was by far the best defender in HHS league.

Opportunity for someone to become the main man.

Same time as an approach from bury came in for Naismith from a un named club....... So hows do stanley get any money out of this move if Tom is out of contract at the end of the season, and blackpool have him for a month on loan unless they sign him and we have him till the end of the season is that how it works :o

Let's hope that Tom plays for Blackpool today and that he is their "Man of the Match" and that he repeats that for the rest of the month!:theband:
That way we can demand the highest transfer fee possible for him when he signs for them permanently £££££:D

and ON STANLEY ON:mosher:

shakermaker 31-01-2015 12:38

Re: Tom Aldred

Would imagine it's a case of Blackpool paying a small loan fee and us getting his wages off the bill. We haven't got much leverage to command a decent transfer fee. Just hope there's an Eric Whalley style sell-on clause in there.

Good luck Tom. Good servant for the club and played a massive part in keeping us in the league last season. Will always have memories (albeit hazey) of the night after the Bristol game. Hope he does well.

By the looks of it, he's only signed on loan to register in time to play today, presumably the registration for a loan player is later than a permanent deal. I'm guessing you can sign a plyer on outside the window if he's on loan. It will all come out in the wash.

Re: Tom Aldred

Good luck Tom, I hope it works out for you at Blackpool. I don't know what is going on behind the scenes but it does not seem a happy camp. some of the team selections are questionable. I can't see James Gray or Marcus Carver sticking around if they are not getting a place in the team. James didn't even make the squad last week against Bury, Why???? Nicky Hunt on the bench, Why???? some seriously bad decisions being made.

shakermaker 31-01-2015 13:40

Re: Tom Aldred

I like Nicky Hunt and would play him if he had good protection in front of him but against a winger with any mention of pace he's left for dead. Plus as Dave says Dean is a better player.

As for the rest - Carver is starting today and Gray on the bench, Chrisr must be happy as Larry :D

The thing is, conneely look great on Tuesday as a replacement and we wouldn't have got anything for tom in the summer so some cash now may make up the shortfall from the cancelled fixtures.

If someone wants to PM the exact details of the deal, I would be grateful.

Dav. Why should someone need to PM the exact details of the deal? :dummy2:
Can't they just publish the details publicly for all to see....????:egged:

Re: Tom Aldred

Should be a small fee up front and a few clauses with other small potential add-on fees based on appearances and the success of the club i.e staying up this season, promotion next season.

Better than a kick in the knackers and losing him for nothing in the summer, I suppose.
