Not the best of options but Sky sport live score centre or BBC sports, sort of follow the action but the updates are a trifle tardy.

Given our locations I would doubt that's an option as it says NOT online :)

I'm listening through the claretsplayer but it's always the opposition commentary as Accy don't participate.

I'd rather give the £4.50 a month or whatever to Accy but not an option.

Agree 100% How we failed to beat a shocking Cheltenham side is beyond me. The ref was shocking, also, Atko had a real shocker tonight imho. The Cheltenham goal was another GIFT. Too many times we done that this season. Too many balls lumped up in the air was our downfall. But we still created enough chances to win by a mile.Roll on tuesday night We still have got 7pts outa the last 9, Shay scored a cracker following a great cross from Pierro.

Redraine 20-02-2015 21:24

Re: Its the..CHELTENHAM match thread.

Just got in and said to son in law who usually brings us luck that at least the usual ref moaners can't complain tonight, and then I saw Davo and Cashy's posts! We outplayed Cheltenham for the majority of the match with energy, drive and no little skill from Piero and Bruna in particular. Once again, however we were woefully short of quality and composure in and around the box. Why we can't try a little variation in our free kicks like trying to work a few triangles to get behind the defence instead of lumping the ball into the goalies arms is beyond me. A big opportunity missed and Coley must be fuming.

choirboy 20-02-2015 21:39

Re: Its the..CHELTENHAM match thread.

A disappointing result, a disppointing match and a disppointing performance.
I agree with Dav and Cashman that Cheltenham were probably the poorest side to play at The Crown this season.:( However, we weren't much better tonight!
We seemed to be in reasonable control in the first half but the "Keeper Curse" struck again as Davies only 'half jumped' for a right wing centre that I at first I thought he was going to catch with ease! He must have simply misjudged the cross as he was on his way back down when the ball bounced onto the head of one of their players and it it looped over him for a simple goal. The keeper took his frustration out on the post with his boots as the play kicked off again! Apart from that he had quite a good game!
Losing Hunt resulted in some strange substitutions in my opinion. Moving Pierro to Right Back removed our main threat going forward, although he still made the equalizer! Then Cal came on at Left Back for Seamus who was being done for pace by their right winger. Cal did ok but it was a bit risky as he was always likely to lose possession as he tried to play his way out from defence. Shay was the one bright spark tonight as he injected some much needed urgency and pace into our attacks. Rob's distribution was poor tonight. Deano did ok and was rarely under pressure. Procky had a good 20 minute spell in the first part of the second half but too many others were under par.:(
Lucky to get a draw really. We should be putting teams like Cheltenham to the sword!
If we play like this in the next three games we won't get a single point!
KEEP THE FAITH
ON STANLEY ON:mosher:

Re: Its the..CHELTENHAM match thread.

Thought there was only one team who wanted to win and they just parked the bus and relied on counter attack and dead ball situations.
Thought Coley took a big gamble in replacing our fullbacks with wingers!,and it's probably the most attacking team we have ever fielded.
Cashys nailed it and Rob was poor tonight, giving a cheap corner away for their goal and got done for pace a few times.
Thought Windass was more effective when he went more right than central and they did their homework on Terry with someone sitting right on his toes.
Felt sorry for the keeper who generally played well and Pierro was great when he went to right back.
Must admit tho, they were poor but defended well and had a right winger with bags of pace

Re: Its the..CHELTENHAM match thread.

Liddle on the bench and not used was a massive blunder by Coley IMHO.......Conneely was done time after time....Liddle should of been put on at left back and Conneely moved to right back ,he hasn't got a left foot and kept turning to get it on his right foot and kept getting caught ....I hold him responsible for two recent defeats and us not winning tonight..Just my opinion but it seems Coley and Lidds have fallen out.A special mention to Josh and Piero they ran their hearts out.

DAV007 20-02-2015 22:21

Re: Its the..CHELTENHAM match thread.

We where far superior, a very frustrating evening.

Cashman is right, our final ball and decision making is still not good enough.

Cheltenham worked us out 2nd half and flooded the area around Gornell to win the 2nd balls, I though Naismith had a bad game, his direct passing and crossing was poor.

I hate it when teams come for a draw and get one, they where made up at the end.

Surely we can't keep getting these terrible match officials? The referee was dire again. The way we play requires a no nonsense referee to protect our passing style, sadly the referee gave us nothing despite some blatant fouling and shirt pulling.

Apologies to anyone sitting around me for my language to the linesman, but the guy was as blind as a bat in the 1st half, Piero got his shirt pulled everywhere and the clown didn't protect him.

If we create half as many chances as we did tonight vs Burton, I will be happy.

We are close to being a top 10 team, the team is improving every game.

One last thing, did Connelly take a knock or does he simply not have the legs? I do think he limits the team both defensively and offensively when he plays at left back.

That would be a predictable and boring choice !!!,we have never had such attacking fullbacks and one got us an assist.
Defending is a different argument.
Are you saying we would have been more offensive with conneely and lids playing?,no chance, big call and it worked for me,as long as we don't get carried away plying that way :)

Could or should have either moved Conneely or taken him off altogether, please don't tell me Lidds isn't an attacking fullback and Piero became a lot more ineffective moved back even though he played well and his assist was fantastic.

So he was ineffective despite still covering almost every blade of grass, putting in a man of the match performance and setting up the goal when he was moved to right back.

Cheltenham had no desire to attack so why bother putting a defender on? It was a brave move from Coleman and one that, in my opinion, should be applauded because it would have been easy to just throw Liddle on but he tried something different to go for the win.

On another day, perhaps Cheltenham go home having had their backsides handed to them, but it wasn't to be and we move on to Burton on Tuesday night.

Ultimately, the question is: would people have taken four points from Southend and Cheltenham? The answer, I'd guess, is yes. Perhaps picking up the unexpected three at Roots Hall makes it more disappointing not to have won tonight, but look at the bigger picture and it's not all that bad.

Can't agree there John.Thought the fullback had the measure of Pierro in the first half and was forced inside and back a lot.
When he dropped deeper (fullback) he had more space and was outstanding and linked up with Windass who went right as well.
You know I like Lidds, and can only assume he carried the can for conceding possession which led to a goal the other week (harsh if that was the reason as others have made individual mistakes as well )

To be fair Yonmon i think we tried to stretch them with diagonal balls as they were compact and narrow and it didn't happen for him last night.
its the lack of pace that's more of a worry when he gets taken wide.
Hes good in central areas but struggles when dragged wide of the 18 yard lines and if your fullback attacks that's were the space is left and its happened a lot recently.

Re: Its the..CHELTENHAM match thread.

I thought alot of our players didnt turn up last night , wether thats due to tiredness or no effort im not sure! Just seemed like a loss of winning spirit!

If Dean Winnard wasnt athletic he wouldn't play in the football league , his contribution is terrible! Unless its a 2 yard pass he cant make one! Last night him and also the terrible Atkinson got the ball, moved a few yards ( even though there was no cheltenham player in our half) and just launched it hoping it would go to a red shirt! Seriously how can you be a proffesional football player in the football league and do that? What do they do all week? I see better passers of the ball on a sunday!!! They have no idea of how to move up the pitch as like i said, no cheltenham players in our half yet the crowd are shouting them to push up yet its the same old rubbish of a hoof ball! It really baffles me!

Its quite clear now also this new guy from Sligo cant cut it yet in the football league so why we are playing him instead of Liddle il never know!

Windass is playing some good football, hes getting used to the football league and whats needed and hes showing some good glimpses of skill and pace but yet like anyone learning their trade in the football league he doesn't make the right decision and if he does its far too slow!

The Argentinian Messi was off the pace and should of at least hit the target with his chance but another one who looked tired!

Proctor looks like all these regular games are catching up on him and had a very poor game but not at all surprising if it being right about not training all week.

Luke Joyce had a poor game also, forvever going sideways and seemed also to look tired. Wish he'd just lift his head sometimes and run forward with the ball sometimes then always look back! Gave away far too many balls last night and his passing for a man whos in their to pick the right balls out and keeping it all ticking over was poor!

Piero again was superb! Right mid , Left mid, Right back, wherever you want Piero to play he will put 100% in and delivers the goods! His touch is superb and his crosses, well look at last night, another great ball in which resulted in a goal! Need to give him the ball again and he just brings things alive with his running at defenders and sticking great crosses in the box!

McCarten did well when he came on and a great goal but fizzled out in the end!

Thought Kal did alright at left back when he came on but i think hes lost the knack of running and taking on defenders! Lack of confidence at the minute with that lad!

Big Terry upfront did well first half but i knew with it being his last club they would know how to mark him and mark him they did well! He didnt get a sniff in the second half and during it i thought he had gone off!

Was a poor game all round and the officials are getting more poor every game! Cheltenham arnt the worst team ive seen all season but we should be beating them with our good form at the minute and with them on a downwards spiral!

Onto Tuesday now and i hope the club push to get a bigger crowd then last night! WHERE ARE YOU THE PEOPLE OF ACCRINGTON?

Re: Its the..CHELTENHAM match thread.

Most of that i can agree wi FC. Although a little harsh on Dino, who fer me is our best stopper by a country mile, True his distribution is far from the best, but fer me a defenders main job is to defend.;)

SamF 21-02-2015 12:45

Re: Its the..CHELTENHAM match thread.

Note how everyone is calling up the CB's for a poor performance... remember they spent a lot of the game as the only defenders in a Stanley shirt! Naismith and Mingoia pushing forward meant Deano and Atkinson got stretched more than they would have liked to have been.

What I couldn't grasp was why we persisted with the long ball. Gornell has been fantastic for us but was getting wrestled off the ball by their CB's and the ref was giving us nothing for the shoves and pulling of shirts. By all means leave him on the pitch as he'll tie up their defenders but when you have McCarten,Naismith, Windass, Bruna and Mingoia on the pitch at the same time get the bloody short passes going - we could have tied them in knots!

cashman 21-02-2015 13:00

Why are people not supposed to say if someone played poor sam? The distribution was bloody awful in general by em last night. Don't matter what. if yeh got a bit of of time a decent pass aint asking much.

FC Interesting comments !!,wasn't going to comment but it did make me smile.
it was Deans 250th game last night, not bad for someone who cant play !!
On to last nights game, and i am interested how other people view the game
how many headers do you think he lost during the game ?.
what do you think his "pass completion"was for over 15 yard passes.
how many tackles/challenges did he lose?
How many times did he get rinsed?,indeed how many times this season?
How many clearances did he make from crosses?
He is athletic and his style is not pleasing on the eye !!,but very effective.
How would you prefer your defenders to be ?.
i accept everyone has an opinion but curious how you form it.
I have most of the stats for the above but am interested how you saw it

it was Deans 250th game last night, not bad for someone who cant play !!

Mr Coleman is a risk taking manager and last night he went for the attacking option to try and get 3 points, did,nt work last night but we at least got a point from his decision. What works sometimes does,nt against better sides when you have centre backs like Atko and Deano they need a midfielder in front of them who screams for the ball and brings it forward we did,nt have that on the pitch last night imho wondered if Barry would have been a better option.

Andy, fair point that, they never pressed us until the halfway line, this meant they had more men in less space, which is always difficult to play against.
I said to yonmon at half time it needs a McCarten type player to unlock them, and he did well with his close control.
