Coming up for the week, so should be able to make it to this one.

Should be interesting - hope some of the directors are present then we can find out what the hell the situation is with money again.

Re: fans forum with john and jimmy 9th april

I hope all those who have doubted JC and JB including myself should attend. As for the directors attending, I think they should make the effort. I hope it will be a constructive meeting with criticism and praise where it is deserved. This could be your chance to join the supporters club.

Can't make it but would like to know why our previous centre forward starts and just read that he scored the winner today for one of our playoff- chasing rivals yet couldn't even get in our 18 man squad even though he's stated he's a good lad good trainer etc etc

Will the q & a be in the same format as the last one I attended with Coley & Jimmy, on that occasion questions had to be written down & were pre-selected for answering by our management duo?

(((very good point AccyMad))) I too would like to know the format.
I realise that when live questions are fired at the speaker, the sessions can often descend into chaos, then again if the speaker pre-selects which questions he wishes to answer it can often results in a waste of time for those attending,

Re: fans forum with john and jimmy 9th april

If the format can't be agreed to everyone's satisfaction, is there time for the questions to be submitted to the Supporters Club (it is a fans' forum after all) and for the chairman to select which ones are asked on the night?

I'd agree with Cashy, if the questions are being pre selected, no true answers are really being given, seems somewhat similar to politicians responses to my mind.

Re: fans forum with john and jimmy 9th april

To be fair to John - whether you like him or not - he has never been one to shirk a question?

Obviously there is a time and a place for voicing an opinion, shouting out at a crucial point in the middle of a game that, in your opinion, an individual player is better suited to employment in a different environment, is obviously not going to get a carefully considered and balanced response. However the management team are usually knocking around somewhere after the game, and I am pretty sure would willingly make themselves available should someone want to have five minutes with them in the week.

Fans forums are a great opportunity to get answers to questions, and phrased in the right way will always get an honest answer. Well done Nick and the Supporters Club, will be a top night, and if anyone is brave enough to ask some really good questions then we might even learn something!

Re: fans forum with john and jimmy 9th april

There is no suggestion about how those of us living afar can pose questions. So I would be grateful if someone could ask the following on my behalf please:

1. What footballing qualities does Sean Maguire possess that Will Hatfield did not possess?

2. You are on record as saying that the squad for each game can vary according to the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition. Is that still correct?

3. The arrival of loanees following your appointment resulted in Piero Mingoia dropping to the bench for 10 games despite his excellent start to the season. Do you now regret that?

4. As a former centre forward yourself, you would know what footballing skills and qualities Matt Crooks had that fitted him for that role? What were these skills and qualities?

Many thanks in advance.

I can honestly say that I have never known him avoid a question, as long as it is asked properly I am sure he will gladly give the reasons for any decision taken or choice made?

Forgive my ignorance (I'm new here) but what actually happens at OASSC meetings? Is it just a get together or is it more structured than that? I fancy the Q & A session but now that I'm a OASSC member I may try and make that meeting as well.

Good Evening

Having spoke to John Coleman today at length he would just like to confirm he has no interest in pre selected questions and has never gone down this route in his previous fans forums
Its going be a total open question session just what John and Jimmy
So now fans for and against the management team its up to you!
Come along on the night and ask your question?
There is no hiding place on the night for John and Jimmy
You might be surprised at the answer you RECEIVE!

Thanks Nick

There are "warriors" on both sides of the ongoing pointless battle, but assuming I know who you are meaning, I very much hope:

1. They do put the questions

2. JC & JB give reasoned answers

..... because it might just clear the air and subsequently improve the level of debate on here :hothothot

I'm not sure if I would be classed as a warrior - I would certainly be flattered to be labelled thus. Be that as it may, my 4 questions are already publicly posted in #14 of this thread.

All that is needed is a strong chairperson to make sure it does not descend into a chaotic slanging match. I am sure we can ask questions on behalf of people who can not attend. I am looking forward to this meeting with the management as I too have questions I would like answering. So please come if you possibly can. It would be great if every fan would join the supporters club and attend the meetings. we neeed a variety of help at all levels to help the club run smoothly.

Were my four questions asked/answered?

Chrisr 11-04-2015 13:23

Re: fans forum with john and jimmy 9th april

It was a fair meeting with John & Jimmy, They answered all the questions put to them fairly and honestly. I asked about James Grey and systems we play. John and Jimmy both answered directly with no dodging of questions.I asked why we don't seem to have a trainer on the field during pre match warm ups, Jimmy insisted I go to specsavers as he is always there during the warm up. ( I am not sure about that) I will be watching. But it was a good and fair meeting. The biggest problem we have is a low crowd attendance, This is something every supporter should try and help with, Bring a friend is a good start. Other ideas always welcome, Join the supporters club £5 and be proud supporter with a badge and pint of milk attached. It is a friendly little family club so come and enjoy some proper football.

What were the questions? And answers?

Were minutes taken?

Would it not be a good idea if all members received copies of the minutes of all meetings? Sending by email would cost nothing. The fact that some of us live a long way off does not mean we are less interested.

As no one asked your questions,I will give you my reply !!!!
1 - scoring 14 goals from 20+ starts as a 18 year old for Waterford suggests he's got something.he's also a international and a premier league club also seen something in him.
Today has shown again a bit of potential.I have always thought Hatfield was a better centre mid and I think that's were Halifax play him,so comparisons are unfair
2 - yes
3 - yes, you had to play OSullivan who is proving at league one level what a top player he is,so the choice was between Naismith and Piero for left wing spot.
In hindsight,Pierro should have got the nod
4 - Wanted a big target man up top,Crookes at 6-6 was worth a look as he's also got a good touch for a big fellow (able to play midfield suggests this),
Didn't work out,Tranmere play the same way with Big Kay and that's not worked !!!
This is just a bit of fun before I get slaughtered !! :)

Hardly! I have read all the comments about him having an excellent game and I am delighted about that. But there have been too many games where he has been decidedly anonymous. I seem to recall an old saying that one swallow does not make a summer.

In actual fact it makes my question even more valid. May I suggest that one quality possessed by Hatfield but not Maguire is consistency.

maccawozzagod 19-04-2015 10:04

Re: fans forum with john and jimmy 9th april

Hatfield had many chances under a few different managers but didn't manage to succeed in nailing down a regular spot. He came to prominence after scoring 2 or 3 late goals as an impact sub and got a chance in the FA Cup at Fylde, and scored 4 goals. He got a run after that but failed to capitalise and returned to his impact sub berth.

He can't say he didn't get a chance really

football19 19-04-2015 10:26

Re: fans forum with john and jimmy 9th april

Have to agree with you Macca, although i still think his game was more suited to centre mid .

baldy 19-04-2015 11:41

Re: fans forum with john and jimmy 9th april

I remember Coley or maybe Beattie saying that Hatfields problem was he had more than 1 position so was a lot harder to nail a position down, Same with Peter Murphy until he nailed himself down as a CM!
