Unfortunately don't know a great deal about the lads but thats got to be the way to go, even on the bench, at the expense of some of the ones that won't be here next season.

In my logic its the best way to go, have seen the lads a few times playing, and whilst sure not finished article, obviously, they show promise which must be why they got contracts, but match time amongst the big lads is to me the best way to see if they can make the grade.

No problem with giving the lads a run out, just would rather do it in final game v Mansfield - the three available points against Westley are too important to put at stake

If Satanage play like they always have, I'd have thought it would be just as useful to put the three youth squad lads in a boxing ring to gain experience.
What a dilemma - use the game as practice in the knowledge that lost points could ensure not having to play Satanage again (at least for one season) or go all out and relish sending Westley home with nul points.
I'm for the latter.

Nice thought Cashy......would have been an ideal opportunity to blood a few of the youngsters.

That said, pressure now off us, so I hope we go for the jugular, give them a right good hiding to exact some revenge for the play off defeats etc,etc and in the process throw a great big spanner in their works and scupper their bid for a play off spot this term.

Stevenage.......'Orrible side, 'Orrible manager.....

(in the style of Keegan)...... I'd just love it !!!!:dflam:

The regulations we work to are FL ones.

The "paper work fairy's" young players are ALL available to play for the first team; all they need is a squad number.

Coley is aware they all can be involved; the match day squad is his selection:)

Re: Satanage on sat.

A travesty of a result! !0 men outplayed their 12 throughout and reduced them to hopeful long balls in the air. Magnificent effort from all the lads and hard to pick a MOM. I must say that Maguire was great today though and had a good game all round apart from his two superbly taken goals. No need for Coley's sour comments afterwards on radio aimed at fans who have criticised him before today. To say that some fans will even criticise him on today's performance is just bordering on paranoia. He HAS been poor many times this season but today answered his critics, me included, with a vengeance. Had he played anywhere near today's level in all the games I have seen him this season then he would not have come in for repeated criticism, I'm sure.

Re: Satanage on sat.

Once again, a totally inept referee. Fair do's, by the letter of the law, Hunt had to go, but so should the Stevenage player! However, a bit of common sense should have prevailed and a yellow card at worst, not red. Totally spoiled the game and I have to say IMHO he didn't get any better. I don't know how many times a Stevenage player jumped for the ball leading with the arm and I lost count of how many times they were chatting rather friendly to the referee. They were looking to reduce our team to less than the minimum to complete a game. Yet when a Stanley player went down after being fouled, they were told nothing doing. That guy deserves to be retired forcedly as I have to say he was the most bias referee I have seen in ages, the absolute worst.
Saying that, Stanley were far the better team for all of the first half and defended valiantly in the second 45. Well done the team for a very workmanlike performance under enormous pressure.

The game was spoilt by the outrageous decision to send Nicky off. both players should have got a yellow each at worst. I am loathe to criticise officials but today we suffered at the inept performances of all the officials. It would seem we have had more than our fair share. we responded well to an aggressive attacking team, we showed some brilliant football skills and we were very unlucky not to claim the three points. It would be impossible to name a man of the match. In answer to the JC and JB complainers I will simply say this. There was a supporters club meeting with a Q&A session with JC & JB afterwards. Where were you?? I asked some straight to the point questions and got answers, fair play to both John and Jimmy they did not try to dodge any question. I felt they answered honestly and truthfully, There were some serious questioning. So if you have a genuine point to protest to them their door is open and so are the Q&A sessions. So try to attend. I Know I will.

Great effort from the team today, they worked their socks off and a win would have been justice.
McGuire was excellent and typified the team work ethic.
No excuses for Hunty tho,you can't push someone in the face and he fell for their players niggle.
Hard to pick a stand out player as they all contributed, but our centre mids must have run a marathon in the area they covered, and Bucko deserves a mention.

Outback, I've a different take on the sending off. We've had this referee before and know what he's like. For a player of Hunt's experience to put himself in a position after a couple of minutes where he's forcing this referee to make a decision is poor, bordering on unprofessional. He's let his team-mates down, notwithstanding whether the decision was harsh or not.

That said, our 10 men were magnificent, particularly in the first half. We pressed them back and looked the more threatening. The second half was a battle and Maguire had his best game in a red shirt, took his goals very well and I thought Jones was also impressive. Davies was also more decisive than of late.

I thought their game management after the sending off was niaive. They should have looked to keep the ball, stretch the game and make us chase. They didn't and didn't look like they had the quality to do so. Thankfully they left the no. 46 on the bench for 80 minutes as he looked very classy when he came on.

Fantastic display by the whole team today worthy of all three points. Some tired legs towards the end maybe earlier substitutions would have sealed the win.

What a day of "performances!"......
.......A SIMPLY MAGNIFICENT PERFORMANCE FROM 10 MAN STANLEY!!!!!!!!!!:mosher::mosher::mosher::mosher::mosher::mosher::m osher::mosher::mosher::mosher:
.......A very POOR performance from Stevenage!:eek::eek::eek:
.......An ABSOLUTELY DIRE PERFORMANCE FROM THE REFEREE AND HIS ASSISTANTS!!!:dummy::dummy::dummy:
How the referee could send off Hunt but not send off the perpetrator from Stevenage was beyond belief! The Stevenage player jumped across Hunt as he tried to rake a throw in and clearly 'Clipped' hunt across the 'Lughole'. He then stood in front of Hunt who pushed out at him! Now with Hunt being taller than the clown from Stevenage the opposing idiot took the push in the face! Hunt would accept that he fell for it and probably deserved the RED CARD but so did the Stevenage player for what was a worse offence!..... Jumping across a player trying to take a throw in but also for 'HAND TO HEAD' contact too!
STANLEY OUTPLAYED STEVENAGE , in spite of extrememly poor refereeing, WITH ONLY TEN PLAYERS FOR VIRTUALLY THE WHOLE MATCH!:mosher:
It was only right at the end that Stevenage made 11 count against 10 when their left winger got the ball in space out wide and crossed for the big No 3 to win his header at the far post.:(
Both of the STANLEY goals were superbly created and finished rreally well. It would be difficult to pick out a MOM for Stanley as they all played their hearts out but I must say that Maguire had his best match for us IMHO. Buxton was like a ferocious Tiger all over the pitch and he was totally 'goosed' at the end. Scott was unlucky to end up conceding two goals as he had played really well too. Rob, Jonesy and Deano were solid at the back under a lot of pressure and got very little protection from the referee. Luke, Piero, Seamus and Josh in paricular played some stunning passing creative football going forward! Had we held on for the WIN I think that it would have hailed as possibly the top performance since we got back into the football league!:alright:
THE SUPPORT FROM OUR FANS WAS BRILLIANT TOO!:theband:
WELL DONE STANLEY:signbeer::drink:

I'll tell you where I was. I was at home here near Bristol. I am happy to make the 450 mile round trip to see the team at home, and even the 620 mile round trip (with overnight accommodation) to see the team at Hartlepool last Tuesday. In the old days no one had a season ticket did they? We were grateful for a roof in about 1982, then took the greyhound track stand from Blackburn for the Cow Shed side around 4 years later when it was knocked down for the Tesco. I only recognise a dozen fans from those days.

Even one of the 'super fans' was wearing a Liverpool kit in 1990 then Stanley mad in 1991.

I'll still be a fan season ticket or not, and I will spend as much going on 2 aways as a season ticket costs. I am not happy giving money to the club the way it is currently run. If they rely on supporter fundraising it needs to be a fan owned club.

most exciting game of the season thanks partly to stockports finest referee got the decision totally wrong at first I thought it was a red card for their player for his initial attack on nicky hunt but Stevenage are masters of the art and know how far to go in gamesmanship horrible side with a horrible manager only equalised with their only bit of good football in the whole game. we never looked one player short. will be a supporter for the day for who they get in the play offs

Spent a pleasant afternoon, albeit totally bemused by the reasoning's of the wee man in black, in the company of Mr 4-4-2 / aka Mr 4-3-3 !. Strange as it may seem we seemed to be in agreement about most of what went on, in particular the fact that Josh Windass should make good headway in the game....when maturity allows him to make the right decisions at the right time !. I dearly hope that this comes along to enhance his chance of making the big time .
Alfred.E's analysis of the game was quite simply that Satanage's 11 men were inferior to Stanley in every department and so lucky to get away with a point!.
The only disappointment came when I offered to carry F19's bag on his projected trip to Barbados for the second test.....and he appeared to go conveniently deaf at the same moment !.
Once again the Reds have confused the Bookies !....a fact that pleases me immensely.

On Stanley On !!.....you never let us down .

I've just watched it a couple of times and it looked more like Hunt grabbed his collar as he was walking away, pulled him back then pushed him away. The ref probably saw it as some kind of retaliation and sent him off.

If Hunt had just let him walk away there wouldn't have been anything for either player. It doesn't mean he was a good ref but it was stupid by Hunt.

And I thought I would get bragging rights in the house. :(

Of course, apparently I lack logic, so I may be mistaken. ;)

You failed to mention my worldly advice to think outside the box if you feel the heat. Only just realised it was a discussion we had when SATANage were the visitors.... most apt :)

You must have dozed off in the sunshine, Yonmon, when he did brilliantly to lay on the goal on a plate for Maguire, rather than shooting himself! Methinks you are coming too much under the influence of your guru mate.

Stevenage just been awarded League 2 Family Club Of The Year. Is that because the manager & players are role models ?

Just seen the Hunt throw in incident on I-player. That is the most unjust straight red card I have ever seen. In comparison, look at some of the thuggish assaults seen in this week-ends PL games which went unpunished. Mirallas's horrific studs up lunge on George Boyd's shin, not even a foul given, David Silva nearly having his eye taken out by a shocking elbow - only a yellow, defenders clattering into attackers from behind without penalty, John Terry etc, etc. I didn't see the Hunt throw in on Saturday, but if I had I would have been sorely tempted to join in with the Clayton end chorus of "How much for the referee?" Surely at least the red card can be appealed and also preferably the Ref hauled over the coals by the authorities for such gross punishment for a mild shove in the back? No one will ever convince me it came anywhere near to being dangerous play. I don't blame Nicky Hunt one bit for such a mild reaction to the provocative little Stevenage squirt.
Funnily enough though, I don't think we would have been treated to such an enthralling Stanley performance if it hadn't happened!

Just goes to prove that the Football League is on it's arse!! (They might not have got that award if a league rep had heard some of the vile comments made to us by their lovely fans on the way out of the game - disgusting individuals )

Aye, after Stevenage was designated a "New Town" after WW2 the small existing local population were up in arms at having to absorb an influx of about 60,000 London slum dwellers. Shows, doesn't it?

I presume it's sponsored by the Kray family.
