Re: Tony Clements
R.I.P. Really nice guy we even sold him a few cars years ago.

Re: Tony Clements
I think he was Secretary of the club for a while as well in the 70's, not sure though. Good guy was Tony and always had time for him. Rest in peace Sir.

Re: Tony Clements
Rob,
Defo wasn't the Secretary in the 70's; candidates for that role were Jack Barrett, Stan Spencer and Roy??? Tony was the "sponge man" / physio and a life long fan. RIP Tony |
Re: Tony Clements
it might have been the Supporters Club then Mark. I know he filled a couple of other roles here and there whilst holding the sponge as well.

RIP Tony & condolences to your family

Re: Tony Clements
Very sad news. RIP Tony and condolences to his family. I know Tony helped build the extension on the stand that allowed us to stay in the NPL Premier Division.

Re: Tony Clements
Tony was the Physio during my time Managing at the club and did a great job. Sorry to hear that he has passed away. I cant remember his wife's name or indeed know if she is still alive. So my sincere condolences the all of his family. Another stalwart from the non league days who is no longer with us.

Re: Tony Clements
I'm Tony's daughter and can confirm that my mum Alice is still alive and well. It was nice to see all the kind thoughts about my dad so thanks everyone.
He did lots for Stanley in the 'old days' and would have been proud to hear of the comments made about him. I miss him terribly but he won't be forgotten. |
Re: Tony Clements
Gillian,
Thanks for your kind words and hope the "old boys" plus a younger one or two that went to the service were of "comfort" to your mum and other family members. Watched from the dugouts aloingside your Dad loads of games in the 70's before progrssing to "other roles". Deputised for him on odd occasions he had to work. Yuor mum was one of the stalwarts of the old teabar!! Mark |
Re: Tony Clements
RIP Tony - one of the old school.
