Alan Pickup - CEO?
Flicking through my match programme last night I read a column by Alan Pickup, CEO. When did this gent become Chief Executive Officer of the club? Last I recall he resigned as a director in 2013 along with Murray Dawson.

Re: Alan Pickup - CEO?
It says as much on the 'fishy' site, under 'club info'.

Re: Alan Pickup - CEO?
We need a new leader at the top the current board are stale and stuck in the past. supporters should voice their concerns. we should be looking at promotion, we also should have a much larger home attendance.

You sound just the man for the job, Chrisr.

"Looking at promotion"
Although it would be great to get promoted and play in higher leagues, I also think we need to sort the club out properly first and build better foundations off the field!! Our stadium is probably just about Football League standard for League 2 nevermind any higher! One of our downfalls is that we rose through non league too quickly rather than got promoted to the Conference, Had x amount of years to build the club off the field, 1 minute we was playing Unibond Division 1, Next minute were a football league club with no real break in between promotions! This isn't a dig but what are the club doing to attract investors if anything? What happened to the 15/20 directors we appointed a few seasons ago, are they still with us? |

I doubt the club can do much unless and until the ownership of the ground is resolved.
It appears (from afar) that the landlord is uninterested or unable to invest in the ground and, as tenants, any money the club put in to new facilities could be at risk next time the lease is up. |
Re: Alan Pickup - CEO?
I know it's been mentioned before but who owns the ground and when's the lease up ?
|
Re: Alan Pickup - CEO?
The ground belongs to Hyndburn Council F19, don't know about the terms of the lease though or when/if there's an end date

Re: Alan Pickup - CEO?
25 years according to this report from the LET in 2010 - so 20 more left
Accrington Stanley unveil £1m ground redevelopment plans (From Lancashire Telegraph) |
Re: Alan Pickup - CEO?
I'm not one to doubt anything I read in the press:rolleyes:, especially such august organs as the LET, but I'm sure I recall a debate on another thread where it was suggested that the lease was due for renewal next year. Or was it next week?

Re: Alan Pickup - CEO?
The Club will be starting talks about renewing the lease very soon :)
E.O.S. is correct, there is about 13 months left :) :) :) :) |
Re: Alan Pickup - CEO?
Good luck to whoever is tasked with renegotiating with Hyndburn.
The Council doesn't seem to have a reason to play 'hardball'. The ground is allocated as open space and they have an adopted planning policy to retain open space, so the site's value should be based on that. Suggesting it has residential potential would require the Council to contravene its own adopted Local Plan. As open space/recreation use, how many alternative occupiers are there? Also it would make for a very interesting political situation if Hyndburn Council was seen as trying to prevent the club staying at the Crown. I hope the club is able to discuss the matter sensibly with the Council and are able to secure a long term future that might allow more investment in the facilities, which in turn could help secure the club's longer term League status. That can only be good for the town as a whole. If the club's best interests revolve around it owning the ground, to secure League funding and loans, then I'd like to think the Council would recognise it has nothing much to lose and much to gain by agreeing to that.
