That'll do, four on the trot, delighted for Crooksy .... trickier test on Saturday, and hopefully a bigger crowd

Gone home happy tonight. A good solid win. We created more chances throughout the game. Crooksy and windass took there goals well. I can understand if coley was annoyed about there goal as they seem to run through us. Special mentions for Matty Pearson who organised defence well tonight. And from so far this season Seamus connelly who has been an big improvement on luke Joyce and billy kee. He creates so many opportunities with his hold up play. For me he is currently the best striker at the club. We also seen the game out well towards the end.( I think they call it game management)

I've waited a long time to see such a rocket of a goal from a Stanley player. Someone behind me compared it to a Bobby Charlton special. It was a more comfortable win than the score suggests as we could and should have been 3 up before Yeovil scored. Gate not too bad for a Tuesday night with footy on TV and very few from Yeovil, and the Clayton End were on top form all night.

Cracking game, cracking atmosphere - brilliant result, well done lads - finally witnessed a Crooksy goal in the flesh so to speak, happy bunny tonight :)
Feel a little sympathy with the Yeovil fans having to travel all that way home having got nothing from the game - then again we had to do the same last December, fair play to the 84 travellers though.

andyd 29-09-2015 21:25

Re: Yeovil Town Thread

Great result tonight a bit shaky for a while after they scored but with 2 central defenders out and playing against a side desperate for a result we ground out the result instead which is what we will have to do in a lot of games to remain at the top end of the table, some good performances out there tonight Crooks,y fantastic game and goal and well done Mr Mooney for keeping alert till the last and a good save at the death roll on Saturday and hopefully a good turn out from Oxford fans and ours to maybe creep towards the 2000 mark.

Another professional performance with the spine of the team(Pearson,Crooks, coonelly, kee)in great form, pressing all over the field.
Yeovil aren't a bad team, but at times we just cut them to ribbons with breathtaking football.
Billy just shaded the MOM for me,simply outstanding in everything he did.
A special mention must go to the team who prepare the playing surface, which allows us to play the type of football we are producing.
Finally, what about Davo re entering the forum debate and giving us his ten game assessment !!! :)

Twas me Mike!:thankya:
Crooks' goal remInded me of some of the powerful shots of Bobby Charlton at his best. One of those thunderous 'rising' shots that are just unstoppable. He also had an excellent game tonight and avoided getting booked too!:mosher:
The final scoreline flattered them somewhat as we were pretty dominant all over the pitch. Seamus Coneely controlled the midfield superbly. Bucko was always getting forward and causing them problems. Billy was simply superb tonight and I would have made him MOM!:jimbo:
The two young lads at the back did well and looked like regular league two players. Although their distribution could have been a little better as I felt they gave away too many throw ins and Yeovil had one of those 'long throw' specialists!
Windass' goal was superbly set up with some wonderful interpassing play and finished of with 'Panache' by Josh with the outside of his foot!...That's another ZERO added on to his value!:alright:
The quality of our passing and penetration was awesome tonight but I still reckon that Coley will give the team some stick as he would have wanted our lads to have despatched Yeovil with a bigger scoreline!:whip:
Overall though a very pleasing night at the WHAM stadium! Other results could have gone a bit better for us but we continue our upward progress in the division.:thepint:
Support was great tonight and the Clayton End was in good voice which helped to create a great atmosphere.:theband:

Thoroughly enjoyable game tonight. I suggest Jessie McClure comes again on Saturday, we keep winning when he turns up. I think maybe the team should walk out to he song 'Dizzy' on Saturday. As others say, hoping for a near 2000 crowd. But someone should tell Radio Lancs to stay away and concentrate on the Shrimps, because when they are not there for a commentary match we go unnoticed and win. Cracking goals tonight, What price on Josh and Crooksy being joint top scorers. Roll on Oxford. Will take another 1-0 or better on Saturday.

it was a great win, the best since 1956 according to the radio. The crowd was disappointing again. I don't know what else Stanley can do to attract more fans. But I am enjoying it while it last's.

Thing is considering only 80 odd away fans, then its n increase in locals i reckon.

I would definitely say more people around me in the main stand than usual . Long may it continue, it all adds to the atmosphere!

I counted 68 away fans 8 mins in, including one going for a **** after the first goal.

Crowds seem a slight improvement on last season so far, whether or not they can sustain a League 2 club is another matter.

League 1 next season will be a greater challenge :)

Over half of league 1 teams would bring 1500 or more fans, the challenge will be fitting them all in away from the home fans ;)

But lets not get carried away yet

And lets not forget, if we do go up, local derbys against blackburn and bolton may well be on the cards :D

excellent game and yoevil were flattered by the scoreline. matt crooks goal was worth the admission cost alone. billy kee deserved a goal after his work upfront for others and a makeshift central defensive pair looked if they,d played together all season. apart from a 15 minuit spell when they scored we were in complete control. the gate could have been higher but last season it would have been just over 1000. roll on Saturday and lets hope for a 2000 gate and 3 more points. another 90 mins. for the reason to believe.

Cheers Dave, wondered who the 'full moon' belonged to as unfortunately no amount of winding the clip back made it any clearer ;)

Just watched the SKY highlights courtesy of 'stO6nc2'...thanks.
Makes good watching of our two super goals in which Billy played a 'Key' in the build ups.
Also watched Coley's video interview on the Fishy site. He was much more upbeat and gave credit to his players but also to the fans, particularly those "Behind the goal" in the Clayton End! I thought the Ultras were superb and they sang and cheered throughout the match.
Coley definitely feels that the supporters are an essential part of the teams performances. So we need to create an even better, and thus influential, atmosphere on saturday against Oxford United.

Come on people of Accrington IMHO you have a team currently playing the best and most entertaining football of our Lancashire clubs. Get down to the WHAM stadium on Saturday and join in the singing and the fun!

Try this then:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_fHlONu_gY.

It's a bit longer and if you fiddle around with that cog-thingy in the bottom right you can watch it in HD.

And there's this one too, from the Creepies:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLO4gMLGM1I.

And, with the right software, they're downloadable too!
