General Meeting!
General Meeting ? Accrington Stanley FC
Never heard of one before... Anybody know what they entail? Is it an open meeting or just for directors? |
Re: General Meeting!
Shareholders usually for a general meeting. Directors for a board meeting.
|
Re: General Meeting!
Must admit I read it and assumed AGM, but it's not is it, just a General Meeting.
I'm guessing that there is something to announce or decide, and assume it is shareholders only. |
Re: General Meeting!
So if it is, are shareholders likely to be notified? or just good guessers?

Re: General Meeting!
I would suggest the club has the e-mails of shareholders, and according to one who posted on here, is the way, then thats what they should do?;)
|
Re: General Meeting!
What I'd like to know is the purpose of this Meeting. It must be something major or else the Directors could decide it on their own or, at least, leave it until the AGM.
They are legally obliged to inform Shareholders in advance of any Resolution to be put to the General Meeting. So we should find out pretty soon. Probably next week. |
Re: General Meeting!
Not forced to be summat major? from what little i know, theres supposed to be one annually? but thats never been the case, so perhaps there just having one.:D
|
Re: General Meeting!
Did a bit of snooping around on the fishy site. Just seen this.

it was advertised via the Accrington Observer classifieds.
So who is the Accy Web proxy attendee, and who is going to ask who the heck Andrew Holt is? |

There was no mention of a shareholders meeting at the OASSC meeting. last week. I am a share holder so if there is a meeting I will attend.

Presuming this is the man in question... http://www.scottdawson.co.uk/blog/wp...am-article.pdf
I think we're crying out for abit of fresh blood in the boardroom for quite some time, Seems like a genuine working class guy who's built his business from scratch! Great news if he's getting involved! |

Hopefully the start of something special! |

I seem to remember that after Eric Whalley's departure the share structure was arranged so that nobody had (or could get to have?) a controlling interest, which Wham / Mr Holt will have if these resolutions are passed. This seemed a good idea at the time ..... Fingers crossed time I think, but my glass is half full :). On Stanley On!! |
Re: General Meeting!
Could I buy some of these shares at £1 each ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????????
|
Re: General Meeting!
Not had the chance to speak to Andy Holt yet but from what I know he's a genuine bloke with a genuine interest and no big time ego.
It goes to show when you get involved, the Stanley bug gets ya :) |
Re: General Meeting!
I'm still not sure.
does this give (Mr. Holt & his parent co. 0404 investments) a 75% controlling interest in our club |

Best news ive heard in a LONG LONG time.
Great to see the club FINALLY being transparent. What is staggering is the fact the club owes over a MILLION pounds to Ilyas and the directors. Quite frankly staggering. Finally a little light at the end of the tunnel. |

I only know what I heard on Radio Lancs but it seems good news to me with a new dawn for the club.
I would like to be able to buy into the extra shares, but if not I would still support the idea anyway. |
Re: General Meeting!
Sounds good on the surface, local company wanting to invest in our beloved club - stuff dreams are made of, right?? I know we can't afford to turn down any investment but can't help but be wary of anyone having a controlling interest - wish I could be at the meeting on Wednesday to hear the ins & outs of the proposal but will have to depend on reports from people who are there, if it's good for the club I'll be right behind it but at the moment I'm reserving any judgment
|
Re: General Meeting!
Let,s hope if the takeover is successful that we all get behind the new regime and maybe some of the stay away fans or all of them for whatever reason :ie Don,t like Coley, don,t like the present regime, or whatever they did,nt like start to return and push this little club of ours to bigger and better times.(less than 1100 home fans yesterday poor and goes someway to explain why the club owes in excess of a million pound.)

Re: General Meeting!
I am going to go against the grain ithe 0404 investments name scares me everybody knows putting money into stanley isn't an investment .what we need to know what percentage of money they want back. Which safeguards are going to be made that if the ground is bought from the council that a dodgy investment firm cant buy it ,then try to rent it back out to stanley raise the rent then fold the club due to owed rent. I don'trust anybody in football after the rangers debacle.

Re: General Meeting!
I can understand any fan's concerns, given what has gone on and will continue to go on with football clubs (or rather their grounds), and new owners.
But, if I was a property developer or asset stripper, I doubt if either The Crown Ground or Stanley would be considered a 'prize'. Even assuming you could reverse the Council's planning policy that the land is and should remain 'open space', I doubt if a hectare or so of former brickworks would be worth the aggro or much money, after having to pay for a replacement ground for the club, at whatever level it happens to be playing at, and any remediation of the ground. Time will tell but, if the new owner is as genuine as some people on here say he is, I wish him good luck. |
Re: General Meeting!
Couldn't agree more Andyd whatever happens at the meeting or how much money is moved around what the club needs most is more fans through the turnstiles. Let's hope that the news coverage of the meeting may refresh interest in the club.
|
Re: General Meeting!
A winning team does bring more fans in but investment and ideas helps to keep them. Whilst I'm chuffed that someone is finally interested in putting cash ou way, I am also wary of any company holding a massive controlling interest in the club AND owning the land. There would be nothing to stop him selling up to a housing developer looking to extend the brickwork estate. IF the council catagorically state that the land use cannot be changed then I'm ecstatic. However, there could be a plan to sell the land and use the cash to develop out of town - a council change of use refusal would kybosh that!
As a fan we have little sway on the matter either way and can only enjoy the ride until (if) it crashes. This Holt chappie seems to be a good egg who knows what he's doing. IMO we need infrastructure and revenue before players and stadia, so I look forward to seeing what new blood think is the way forward. |

Re: General Meeting!
I thought that the land is for only sporting purposes so can't be used for housing etc?
Could be wrong though! |

Re: General Meeting!
Watching from outside the Bubble that is ASFC this is a Genuine chance to chance to bring the Club into the 21st Century with investment that not only settles the "Old" Debts once and for all but bring fresh investment into the Club.
The Club celebrates the Decima Dinner next month 10 Years in the FL which is a fantastic achievement but is light years behind in areas off the pitch and infrastructure hopefully what will follow is a New Broom to bring the Club bang up to date in terms of ideas, interactions as well as professionalism and become what it really should be the Jewel in the Crown of Hynburn. Good Luck for the Future On Stanley On! |

Fantastic news!
Lets hope the stay away fans like Smudgie says, do return and put differences aside and really back the new board! |
Re: General Meeting!
It was a good meeting in so far that no question was dodged, Andy was honest about what he may do and what he could not do straight away. I think the meeting revealed just how dedicated many of the people from board level down to volunteers have worked just to keep the club ticking over. It certainly showed where the club was lacking in basic structure. However The club is now debt free and has a few bob to spare for improvements. Andy said he was working with others on a structure plan to put the club on a better financial business footing. All in all if the promises come to fruition it looks like bright future.

Re: General Meeting!
Also J.C. said he was 100% behind the guy, so that should please some.

Re: General Meeting!
Coley hails investment ? Accrington Stanley FC
Glad Andy Holt isn't planning on giving Coley and open cheque book but instead concentrating on the basics like facilities etc that will create money in time to be generated into the playing squad! |
Re: General Meeting!
A Holt talked a lot of of sense as far as i'm concerned, very optimisitic about this move.:)

Good interview with Coley! Like the sound of a potential training ground, Could be the bridge to the community that we have lacked in recent years, if built right could be a great revenue stream! |
Re: General Meeting!
Let's not get ahead of ourselves the deals still yet to be approved by the FA and football league, anything could happen still
