More comprehensive indeed, but Alfred E (I suspect) suggested the better thread title :D

Well having watched Plymouth beat Notts County last sunday @ scoring 2 good goals, I am convinced if we play our best, we will no doubt win this game. but "Ifs" a much bigger word than yeh think.

Dirty tactics ahead of the game by the Pilgrims eh?? Methinks they may be a tad worried about playing our boys ;)

From the Argyle forum:

Thank goodness we have Luke McCormick. They've been far better than us. We've looked sluggish, unfocused, generally quite lazy at times. We look scared of them too, backing off every time they have the ball. They've had 3 one on ones. They've hit the bar. Quite a few near misses. We are only in this thanks to Luke making 3 or 4 fine stops & the crossbar. We deserve to be 3 or 4 down. Nobody's really played well bar Luke & Wylde.

So frustrating to play as well as we apparently did & come away with nothing, but hopefully the lads can put it behind them & be even more up for it on Tuesday night, looking forward to a goal fest against the Wombles & then the Daggers - fingers crossed

Re: The Pilgrims Match Thread

Just back in from the game and I'm still wondering how we didn't get something out of it. to play the top of the league on their own patch, with their keeper getting MOTM says it all. They took one of their chances and we didn't.

I was on a corporate in the main Plymouth Grandstand and a good few of their fans were saying we outplayed 'em totally. We won't lose many matches this season playing like that, just need to be more clinical.

This is a special set of lads we have this season and they all put a shift in today. At the final whistle about 4 or 5 of them fell to their knees and led on the pitch with their socks rolled down like they'd just lost a World Cup Semi Final after extra time. They were totally shattered.

Windass & Piero looked gutted to be subbed late on, I like to see that in players.

Can't wait to travel up next weekend to watch the lads at home v the daggers after hopefully putting the Wombles away in midweek.

On my way back to the car a bloke came over and said he was gonna watch the highlights on Channel 5 later, but they should be showing them on Crimewatch, cos we've stolen them 3 points from you.

Re: The Pilgrims Match Thread

From the Pilgrims forum:-

"Goodness knows what their manager was thinking taking him and their right winger off! They caused us problems all afternoon and didn't look as effective when they were subbed. Baffling decision but one I was quite relieved about."

I love Coley to bits but yet again his subs, or lack of, regularly baffle me too. Of ALL the games in Football league yesterday, no other manager left his subs anywhere near as late as ours, apart from Chesterfield's, who made two very late "time wasting" subs when 2-0 up! It must be galling being a bench warmer for us.

Possession - Argyle 42% : Stanley 58%
Shots - 10 : 18
On target - 4 : 7
Corners - 5 : 9
Fouls - 14 : 10
Points - 3 : 0
If anyone still thinks you get what you deserve in football, see above.:(

C'mon, Redraine, who'd be a manager?
An away fan thinks our players shouldn't have been subbed and you seem to be complaining they weren't taken off earlier.
Sounds like best performance of the season from the team, thus far. I just wish I'd been there instead of wasting time watching the rugby.

Obviously, I wouldn't be calling for our two best players to be subbed, just a different approach earlier to get back on terms, at least.

I'm of the opinion, fresh legs are always welcome, given they have enough time to do summat.:) dont think its about who was subbed to be honest. that would be another issue imho

Yes, looking at the 'stats' does indicate that we were the better 'footballing' team. However, winning matches is simply about scoring goals! We still do not seem to have that elusive 'natural goalscorer' who just possesses 'THE KNACK' of getting tap ins and producing goals out of nothing!
We are just one player short of being a League two Championship winning team!
Looking at the BBC stats too, we only committed 10 fouls but had 4 players booked compared to Plymouth with 14 fouls and only 2 booked!
Hey ho.....
Here is to us SCORING some GOALS on tuesday!
ON STANLEY ON
:alright:

we will get played off the pitch sometime this season and scrape a result against the run of play. that's football and that's why we get excited because you never know whats going to be on offer. would love to do dag and red next Saturday with a deflection off the ref in the 98th, min after being up against it all the game.

I'd rather be 4-0 up before that happened!
