2015/16 Prediction League; Game 14 v Wimbledon (home)

Neal Ardley summed up Wimbledon’s 5-2 home defeat by Morecambe on Saturday as “a serious bad day at the office” :eek:, claiming that “we worked all week” :confused: ........ Hope the Chairman’s in a good mood, Neal .............:D

They shifted a few out in the summer, but fewer than many ...........(which is not to say many fewer ....); CM Sammie Moore went to Leyton Orient, Alfie Potter (once of Oxford) left for Sixfields and a Cobbler’s life :rolleyes:; CB Mark Phillips went to Braintree Town (I don’t know what Princess Anne would have thought about that :p:p), striker Dan Agyei to Burnley, and GK Ross Worner (26 – Woking, Charlton and Aldershot) to the Old Keeper’s Graveyard (Sutton, in the Conference League South); to fill the gaps the Wombles raided Portsmouth, coming back home with LW Andy Barcham and CB Paul Robinson (didn't he sing "Old Man River"? ;)), went to Oxbridge for two graduates (Welsh LB Jonathan Meades from Ox, and CF Tom Elliott from Bridge), called in at Scunthorpe for Montserrat international striker Lyle Taylor (Bournemouth, Falkirk, the Blades and loads of loans), and finished up at Arsenal for MF Christian Toonga. Additionally to that, they have two defenders in on loan – Nigerian Semi Ajayi from Cardiff, and Karleigh Osbourne from Brizzle City (no relation to Ozzy, I understand :o)

Their League record at the moment is P13 W4 D4 L5 GF15 GA19 for 16 points and 16th place ............ They went out of the Carling 1-0 at Cardiff, and the PaintyThingy 3-2 at home to Plymouth (both in the first round), and – although Ardley talked about being hurt because it’s the first time they’ve lost two on the bounce (I assume he means this season) – he didn’t mention that that’s three defeats and one draw in their last five in the League :). Their away record is one victory (2-1 at Crawley), three draws (all by 1-1, at Carlisle, Mansfield and Yeovil) and defeats in their last two on the road – 2-0 at Luton, and by the odd goal in one at Oxford:); if you want that a different way, they’ve won two of nine during September and October :( ....... My mate You Fat Bastard :D is their leading scorer with 4; Andy Barcham (who went off injured on Saturday after 39 minutes with what, according to their website, looks like a serious knee injury :mad:) has 3, as does Adebayo Azeez. They’ve failed to score four times and kept just one clean sheet .......17 goals in 15 games ........... Promising! :D

We won six of the first seven League meetings between us, drawing the other, and they only first beat us in the return game at their place last year ;) .......... in 2011/12 we won 2-0 away and 2-1 at home; 12/13 it was 2-1 away and 4-0 at home; 13/14 we managed a half-desmond away and 3-2 at home; and least season we beat them 1-0 at home but lost 2-1 away, Rhino getting an 88th minute consolation ........ :o:cool:

The Wimbledon club crest features a two-faced bird (described in more heraldic terms as a Double Headed Eagle), seemingly because of some local legend that Julius Caesar once camped on Wimbledon Common – lying bastards :D – I bet the bloke who thinks he’s God was in the next tent to him, and Karl Marx on the other side! :D:D ....... Head of Talent Identification (Head of Talent Ident ... :confused: ............he’s the Club's Chief Scout! :)) is called Karl Sherman; AFC Wombles came into the League by winning the 2010/11 Conference Playoff Final (beating Luton 4-3 on penalties after a goalless bore – sorry, draw ;) – and joining Crawley, with Grimsby and Darlington going the other way :)); excluding caretakers, they’ve only ever had four managers – and how’s this for loyalty? – their respective tenures were 71 games (Terry Eames – of which he won 60, a win-percentage of 84.5%), 126 (Dave Anderson), 227 (Terry Brown, who took them into the League) and 120 (Ardley); they also hold the record for the longest unbeaten run of League matches in Senior Football (which doesn’t actually mean over-65!) with a run of 78 games between February 2003 and December 2004 .............so now you know! :p

Deadline for entries is, as always, scheduled kick-off time, which is 7.45pm on Tuesday, 20th October ..........The Footballing Gods weren’t on our side at Plymouth, looking at the stats, but Our Day Will Come :D ............someone will get a right pasting, and it could just be the Head Womble and his Mates!:D Couldn’t it Wynonie? :p:p:p

Good luck to everyone! :) .............. Keep the Faith! :) ............. Stop hitting the post, Sean :o ..............And thanks for playing! :)

:alright::alright::alright:
