Re: 2015/16 Prediction League; Game 26 v Notts County (home)
So; first the Bad News ............. County’s recent results (last 7) have created a sequence which goes LWLWLWL – so statistics suggest that they ought to win their next game .............then, they’ve won 3 of their last four away (Hartlepool 3-2, York 2-1, Luton 2-0 and Crawley 1-0); the Not So Bad News is that the teams they’ve beaten lie 21st, 22nd, 13th and 16th ............it isn’t all Roses at least (“Roses Grow on You” “Swinging....Dodgy”) – home defeats in each of their last 3 (2-4 v Oxford, 0-2 ats the Wombles and Saturday’s 0-1 against Kevin Nolan’s Leyton Orient) ................in fact they still haven’t won at home under new manager Jamie Fullerton ............
Recent transfer business saw 24 year-old striker Jimmy Spencer (6 goals in 32) released, and sign immediately for Cambridge Utd, Donnie defender Gary MacKenzie (30) come in on loan, and ex Wycombe MF Jason Banton (23) sign on the dotted .............. We drew 1-1 at theirs back in August, Matt Crookes getting a 90th minute equaliser, making our record in League meetings substantially rubbish ............. we lost both games in 2006/07 (3-2 and 2-1) and both games in 2007/08 (2-0 and 1-0); in 2008/09 we shared the spoils – two one-all draws; in 2009/10 we won 2-1 away, and lost the reverse fixture 3-0 .....Won one, drawn three, lost five ……….. This season they’ve failed to score 7 times in all (including against Salford City on TV), and kept 6 clean sheets; leading scorers are Liam Noble with 9 goals and 2 red cards, Jon “I’ve been everywhere, Man” Stead (also with 9 goals), and Izale McLeod – now on his 7th club, if you don’t count 4 loans and MK Dons twice - with 8 goals and 7 yellow cards ...... Like the man said; if Exeter beat Oxford, even by a single goal, and we beat the Magpies by two, we go third (goals scored); if we win by three we go third on GD ........... Heady Times indeed! If you want to change your prediction, feel free, otherwise your first guess or your Chimer Season Ticket will stand ..........but remember the cautionary tale of He Who Changed His Mind And Gave Ange A Big Laugh! On Stanley On! |
Re: 2015/16 Prediction League; Game 26 v Notts County (home)
A Cautious 1 -0 to the Reds will do for me.
