Shutting up Somerset
In the hope that Somerset will not have to write another letter and also in the hope that neither deeayess nor I will have a fruitless journey tomorrow, can anyone give some information about the current state of the pitch. Thanks in advance.

Re: Shutting up Somerset
sorry Red: it's not looking good, rain all night, big pools of water in the streets, more rain forecast for tomorrow, have not been down to look at the pitch, will update you after I have had a reccy
|
Re: Shutting up Somerset
on reccy 1-00pm bright sunshine at present. I'm not a ref but I would say the pitch is just playable but more rain is forecast

Re: Shutting up Somerset
Don't want to feed any "trolls" nor step on Buzzer's grass.
The pitch is fine (In my very personal view) and the forecast :( I use is encouraging :) I've closed the other thread but can I just point out IF we covered the pitch with rain covers; where would Buzzer then put the 50mm worth of daily rain that has fallen?? Bear in mind the drains around the stadium are constantly full and can only "drain" as the watertable allows them.;) |

Re: Shutting up Somerset
Forecast, if such is to be believed, suggests the game could start but whether it finishes is another question. Hope the late afternoon downpour drifts across more slowly than predicted. As if Professor Coleman doesn't have enough to worry about.

Re: Shutting up Somerset
Many thanks to everyone. Sorry to say, I have decided not to risk it. There seems to be some doubt - and I don't want another wasted journey. Instead I'll hope and pray for a fine week so that, with certainty, I can come north and watch us wallop the snake's lot next Saturday. :D:D:D

Re: Shutting up Somerset
I don't even need to get off the train as it is just about to head back up to Dumfries
|
Re: Shutting up Somerset
I'll bet Coley is regretting his outburst about Carlisle fixtures now. He should swallow his pride and start begging our near neighbours to accommodate us whenever a bit of rain falls in future. Otherwise we are going to have difficulty in fulfilling our seasons fixtures. Sun now cracking the flags of course!

Re: Shutting up Somerset
Looks like the trolls back. Time for another thread closure I think.

Re: Shutting up Somerset
You'll find this hard to believe, but after smiling at our resident trolls posts, first day at the cricket,a bloke hung a flag in front of me and the missus, after a few minutes I leaned over to read it,and yes it read "Somerset " !!!,couldn't believe it, he's everywhere :)

Re: Shutting up Somerset
It's beginning to look like he is a serious dingbat now. If next week is off it's defcon phonecall. God help us if it moves to defcon email :D
At least nobody has responded yet. I'm with yonmon on that now. Do not feed the troll |
Re: Shutting up Somerset
Least we aren't the only game in the league off with the Wombles also falling victim to the weather.
Not sure what we can do really? I've never seen as much rain in 31 + years of living in the area, that's for sure. |

But behold Rovers game at Newport off wondered this morning why that was still on pitch as bad if not worse than ours.
