Notts County MATCH THREAD

After the transfer turmoil of this week :confused:let's hope that Stanley can produce a winning team tomorrow and get the THREE POINTS that will keep us in the hunt for a promotion push!
I think that it would be great if we all get 100% behind John and Jimmy and all of the players that are picked to play tomorrow whoever they are!
:theband:
ON STANLEY ON
:alright:

I'd settle for just seeing a game for a change. There's been nowt I could go to since York away as Wycombe and Carlisle were both off.

Re: Notts County MATCH THREAD

I half expect it to get called off, the best gage for me is the Dunk puddle.

The water table must be high on the clay pit, and the overnight rain could bring it to the brink and then 8-9am could be the tipping point.

Mammoth disgrace I would guess, Pompey would be colossal and Harlepool humongous. Not sure about Bristol?

Re: Notts County MATCH THREAD

Would be very disappointed if it does get called off, would be my first game since the draw with newport so really looking forward to it.

With the website saying josh carrying an injury, a chance for Shay perhaps?

Looking good. Afternoon rain forecast to be delayed! No guarantees though. I would risk a small wager that it's on.

8-30 am a good sign the floodlights all on must mean Buzzers working and hopeful that the game can go ahead, the pitch has a slight covering of water visible and a steady light rain here since 7-30 this morning until present although any heavy rain would put this fixture in doubt

The tweets from Stanley have a tone that they are preparing for the worse

"We're in the middle of a spell of heavy showers. Less rain expected later but more has already fallen than forecast"

"Heavy rain again overnight (isn't it always the way?) - we'll keep you up to date with the weather as the day goes on"

I asked yesterday if there was a good chance of the weather getting worse could we have an early inspection. They did and called it off. Save some Notts fans a long travell. but Gutted. as the sun is shining as I write this in sunny Harwood.

Shining in Rishton as well Chris !... now there's a strange thing !.

Sad the game is off but would have hated to see 22 players sliding about instead of playing football whilst risking injury !... and making the entire happening little more than a lottery.

Tuesday evenings in 2016 will be fun filled methinks !. 😉

KTF.

Re: Notts County MATCH THREAD

Looking at the photos on the Fishy site it clearly shows that the pitch would be unplayable. The rain appears to be killing off the grass as it looks very thin.
I can honestly say that I have never experienced such a prolonged period of heavy rain such as we have had over the last two months. My back lawn is usually a good comparison to the Stanley pitch and the grass on my lawn is simply disappearing and it is turning into a mudflat! It will need totally reseeding in the spring!

We will just have to play 'Catch Up' in the latter part of the season and surge into the play offs!

To me we should be looking at alternative venues to play some matches at first.

Re: Notts County MATCH THREAD

Today both Burnley and Blackburn were away, I know Blackburn was pp but the point I was asking is would it not have been possible with the early call off could we have not switched to one their grounds, It would not been that inconvenient for the fans, I am sure there is a FA rule that would be against it. Assuming the host would be agreeable to us playing on their pitch. I think this point is extremely relevant given the blasting coley got for suggesting Carlisle should not be able to switch grounds. It has been an unprecedented level of rainfall, Will the FA help with grants to improve drainage.

It's not that easy i'd think. First of all it's computerised ticketing the catering then stewarding which would need to be risk assessed then policing then hospitality if there is any and staff to man the stadium.

Fine if you know well in advance but no chance at short notice

I was going to reply earlier but not too easy on my phone and since there is no game to discuss I hope it isn't too off topic but yes been in them all and sometimes on the same night :D .

The Royal Oak was usually the pub of choice as I could walk out my gran's front door and walk 50 yards to it but I've also had many a lockin in the Forts Arms. I also remember the Albion and Sparth Manor I think it was as well as the others you mentioned. All this was more than a quarter of a century ago which shows How old I am.

I never seemed to make it as far as the Hare and hounds for some reason.

If it only takes a few hours to put on a league football game then somebody somewhere is getting it all wrong ;)

If we had preliminary agreements in place with the host club, police.etc we could simply produce our own tickets or pay on the door. It ain't rocket science. the away supporters could be diverted to either ground, it is not that far!! If the will was there it can be done.

AccyMad 11-01-2016 18:25

Re: Notts County MATCH THREAD

I'm sure if it was as simple as you seem to think it would have already been looked into, the club must be suffering with no income due to the postponed games & I doubt any other club, even if it were logistically possible would allow us to use their facilities for free.
I know we're all desperate to get games played at the Crown but I don't think switching grounds is the answer - I wish I knew what was.

The other club would need to get their staff in at short notice, all tickets (including season tickets) would need to be purchased or swapped on the day. There isn't 'pay on door' capability at a lot of clubs with the electronic entry systems. After the other club is paid, ticket staff, stewards, the local police and there could be a loss made, as a lot of fans won't bother going.

Then you have problems with fans missing their train back etc depending on where it is located.
