A Good Day For The Cock-eyed Optimists

Two disappointing results against Carlisle :(, punctuated by a thrashing of hapless Crawley :), and four or five first-choice players out through injury or suspension :( – clearly only cock-eyed optimists could forecast a win at Oxford, occupiers of an automatic promotion place for many weeks now and a team against whom we haven’t had the best of luck against since they came back into the league after we had pushed them out ten years back.

So 13 of us were indeed cock-eyed , against 11 logical souls :p and another 11 drawmongers , and 6 of the 13 took a max 5 points and a leap up the table :D. So hats off to Deeayess (6th to 2nd, 6 points behind AngeB), Leylandii (9= to 4th), Mab (13= to 8th), Cashman (17th to 15th), Div3North (Cheers boss, 27th to 20th) and Stevie R (29th to 23rd).

:alright:

The other 7 optimists, curiously, all took 3 points, nobody picking 2-0 or 3-1 which would have been worth 4.

6 of Tuesday night’s Top Ten lost the faith and (mostly) position – AngeB, LongLostSon, MikeA, Ossy Kid, Tommy McQueen and Proccy Fan. The last named never offers anything but 2-1 Stanley, but this week …. :D

Worryingly, I’m beginning to dare to dream . The next 4 games look horribly winnable – but roll on Notts County, let’s take it one game at a time!

On Stanley On!!

Just popped by to congratulate Stanley on a surprising (to me) victory at Oxford on Saturday.

Div3north. Decapitate? Really?? You'll be pleased to hear that his red card was rescinded, and he scored the winner for us on Saturday.

Also, our number 5 that night was captain. It's part of the captains job to be the only 1 to talk to the referee rather than having 6/7 players surrounding the referee. Funnily enough, at jabo's red card last night I counted 6/7 Accrington players surrounding the referee

My point, if you read it properly, was hypocrisy; it's alright for loads of your players to surround (and in the case of your skipper, berate) the ref, but Mr Curle criticises us for doing the same? I didn't say we didn't "approach the Ref", but your manager could have said something about you doing the same thing he had a go at us for doing ...............

Anyway, we'll agree to differ, shall we? Hope you make the play-offs, but don't count on us being there to play you ....... we have bigger ambitions this year!

:alright:
