2015/16 Prediction League; Game 37 v Dagenham and Redbridge (away)

Does anybody out there have a qualification in Probability Theory? If so, try this … Footballer A – let’s call him Kane Ferdinand – is on the books at Peterborough, having once been at Southend; he’s loaned to Luton Town, who are managed by John Still; the said Kane Ferdinand plays (once, as a sub) for the Hatters in the League and once in the League Cup, and the said John Still is massively underwhelmed, saying of the said Kane Ferdinand that he’d "not done as well as I had hoped” (a polite way of saying “cr*p”). The said Kane Ferdinand then left the Posh in July 2015 by MutualConsent, and in August he signed for the Daggers; in December 2015, the said John Still became the new Manager of the said Dagenham and Redbridge FC.

Question; what is the Probability that the said Kane Ferdinand, in those circumstances, would get the Bum’s Rush out of the Daggers’ front door within the following three months? The Correct Answer, of course, is 100%; he wasn’t offered a contract extension and MutuallyConsented with them as well at the beginning of February. Currently he seems to be “between clubs”. Life’s a Bitch, innit?

Eventually, on 5th March 2016, the Daggers actually won their first home game in almost eleven months; up to that date they seriously hadn’t won any home game all season in any competition (drew 6 lost 13, which – since the York game (The Win) is now D7 L13 ……….) This week’s starter for 10, then, is this; before beating York on 5th March, the Daggers last won at home on 25th April 2015 ………Who did they beat, and by what score?

Talking of Dagenham wins this season, they’ve been like hens’ teeth ……in the Carling they lost in Round One 4-1 at Charlton; in the PaintyThingy they beat Cambridge 2-0 away and then Stevenage 2-1 away, before going down 2-0 at home to Oxford (who smacked them all over the Park (4-0) on Tuesday night, with a Roofe hat-trick, the fourth one coming from Trusses (joke!)); in the FA Cup they beat Morecambe 4-2 away after a home zero-Desmond, and Whitehawk 3-2 away after a home half-Desmond, and then lost 2-0 at Goodison in Round 3. The League is even more worserer …………P37 W5 D10 L22 GF34 GA65 …..the five wins have been at home against York (1-0, see above), and away by 2-1 at Northampton and at Exeter, 1-0 at the Wombles, and 3-1 at Stevenage ………. Apart from the Daggers, the only other sides in League Two with fewer than 10 wins are York (6), Stevenage (8) and Yeovil (9); only the Daggers (L22/37), York (L21/36), Hartlepool (L19/34) and Stevenage and Morecambe (each L18/36) have lost 50% or more of their games; only York (67) have conceded more goals than Dagenham (65); no one has scored fewer; in their last 10 games they had a spell when they drew 0-0 against Notts County and by the same score against Carlisle, wrapped around the 1-0 win over York; they lost the other seven, meaning a return of just 5 points out of a possible 30 ………:o

As well as Kane Ferdinand (see “cr*p”, above) moving out, they moved in on loan Bolton’s 22 year-old defender Quade Taylor (who was at Palace before Bolton – and by the way, so long Neil Lennon, who became the 46th Manager to leave his desk and hand in the keys to the Car Park this season (there are 92 clubs, remember, so 1 in 2 – 15 of them in the Championship) , plus Forest AMF Matty Cash (aged 17), who can at least keep the other Forest loanee Joe Worrall company …..Additionally, they ProperSigned ex Cambridge, Southend, Colchester, Orient, Cobblers (twice) and Aldershot MF Luke Gutteridge (33) from Luton.

As for goals – well, they’ve conceded four goals three times and three goals nine times; they’ve managed seven clean sheets, but failed to trouble the scorers a staggering 17 times in their 46 games ……adding the 9 Cup games to the 37 in the League, they’ve managed 46 goals (in 46 games), conceding 74 …….They’re nine points adrift of 22nd-placed Stevenage, with a GD which is 13 goals worse (so 10 points, effectively), and Stevenage have a game in hand ……their leadings scorers are Jamie “ZimmerFrame” Cureton, with 7 in 35 games (14 of them as a sub) and Welsh-born Christian Rhys Doidge (23) with 6 …….and they appear to have used 30 players so far this season ………….oh, and by the way, their last win at home (25th April 2015) was against us, and they did us 4-0!)

Last time out we beat them 3-1 at the WhamBam!, goals from Conneely (95 seconds) from a McWindass corner, Matty Pearson (45 + 2) from a McWindass corner, and McWindass (49), not from a McWindass corner

Deadline for entries is, as always, scheduled kick-off time, which is 3.00pm this Saturday, 19th March, so it is. Begorrah ....... It’s their 9th season in the League, and with 9 to go they’re 9 points from safety ..............so; 999 – but it won’t help, you feel. 5 wins in the League, four more in Cup games ...................... Their remaining games involve trips to Luton (13th), Orient (8th), Plymouth (3rd) and BrizzleR (4th), and at home they’ve got us (5th), Morecambe (18th), Pompey (6th), the Wombles (9th) and Crawley (16th) ................... so 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 9th, and they’re not going to get much change from those games – which, of course, makes Saturday’s game A Genuine Banana Skin; we have too much for them to do us over (it’s the first time I’ve seen the bookies actually make us favourites to win a game!), but we do need to watch our backs .......... and our back passes ................ and stray balls in our box. Don’t we, Lads?

Good Luck to everyone! ........ Keep the Faith! ........... And thanks for playing!
